This study analyzed characteristics of visual circulation in the modern museum architecture while carrying out space syntax and visibility graph analysis side by side in order to solve problems of visitors' movement having been suggested as the point at issue at modern museum architecture that has become big scaled and layering so as to satisfy various social demands. Also, the result of this analysis is same as followings. First, visitors become to watch the exhibition with clear position that can make themselves in right allocation, and thus visual and perceptual confusions were shown as relatively low in case physical position and visual one were matched at major space of atrium type or mediation space. Second, it was appeared a lot at the museum having exhibition space of room type in case the physical position and visual one were not matched. Visual circulation in the exhibition space of room type has a merit of forming the circulation where free selection is possible. However, it have raised concerns that visual passageway of visitors could be in a stalemate or crash at the opening part, not at the exhibition hall. Third, though analysis of space syntax had a merit of analyzing total modern museum architectures having became compounded and big scaled, but it was dropped in reliability from the visual circulation's analysis that was decided by flows of space and time. In contrary, visibility graph analysis was shown as having a merit to analyzing the flows rather than that of total structure, and also appeared as being able to supplement the disadvantage of space syntax in methodology. Upon the above analysis, a lot of architectural elements such as allocation of exhibition hall, location of door and window etc. were appeared as affecting influences to forming visual circulation of visitors, not to mention of allocations of major space, mediation space, and exhibition one. Through this study, various possibilities of quantitative analysis on the visual circulation in the museum architectures can be confirmed. However, this study expects that in-depth subsequent researches objecting to various museums could be realized afterwards because there are still limitations in its analysis.
The purpose of this qualitative research was to examine the behavior patterns and activities related to the clothing of older women. A total of 31 older women were interviewed regarding indoor/outdoor wearing conditions, thermal sensation indoors, and their clothing perception related to health. The final outcomes were as follows. Firstly, interviewees viewed indoor temperature as neutral in the spring and fall. Many people felt cool or warm in the summer and warm or cold in the winter. Secondly, they controlled indoor temperature with an air conditioner and/or fan and by opening the window and/or wearing less clothing. In winter, most respondents used a heating system and wore more clothing. It seemed that the level of dependence on clothing was higher in winter. Thirdly, the number of garment layer indoors was similar among the four seasons, and many wore underwear. However, there were individual variations. Fourthly, interviewees tended to perceive clothing in relation to health. Textile materials appropriate to the season were firstly viewed as related to health, followed by climate adaptability, clothing pressure, UV protection, and aesthetic satisfaction. Fifthly, respondents showed positive attitudes towards health improvement by clothing even though they lacked information on it. From this research, older women showed positive the perception and attitudes regarding clothing from a health perspective. Since they lacked information, education is needed regarding the bases and ways to improve health through clothing behavior.
The purpose of this study is to measure and analyze primary causes of indoor air pollution, including carbon dioxide, minute dust, and total volatile organic compounds, for each room before the beginning of a class through the time of discharge after the end of the class in general classrooms, computer rooms, and science rooms of three newly-established schools that opened in 2006, examine properties of indoor air environment in each room by educational activities at school, and determine effective management schemes; the results of this study can be summarized as follows: 1) As for implications for each item found in the mean for each place, since minute dust (PM10) was more likely to occur in time slots full of students' activities, such as a traveling class and a recess, than in the middle of a class and could be expected fully, it is necessary to make a scheme for cleaning in order to reduce minute dust within a room, for example, by usually using a vacuum cleaner indoors. 2) While carbon dioxide was expected to vary with the differences in the amount of breath between higher-graders and lower-graders in a general classroom but showed insignificant difference by grades, showing differences in pollution by four times at a maximum according to the opening of a window as expected, it is necessary to implement artificial or natural ventilation and take a positive measure, for example, by presenting a concrete ventilation scheme, in order to improve indoor air pollution at a room practice. 3) Total volatile organic compounds were found to exceed the standard by more than twice in general classrooms, science rooms, and computer rooms of the schools because of building materials, furnitures including desks and chairs, panels and boards for environment beautification, and items which could be detected even from students' clothes; while a field directly-reading tool was used, obtaining high reliability for the results, it is necessary to apply an analytical method based on process test separately for actual correct measurement if a significantly great amount of total volatile organic compounds appear as compared with other schools due to measuring expenses and consecutive measurements. 4) Since formaldehyde (HCHO) was generally found to exceed the standard in general classrooms, science rooms, and computer rooms, it is necessary to establish and operate a ventilator during a class in a computer room which requires airtightness and a science room in which an organic compound should be used for a class.
The aim of this study was to compare the effects of the short-term use of the desensitizing dentifrices marketed in Korea in vitro. Fifty human dentine specimens were wet ground with silicone carbide paper and etched with 6% citric acid for 90 seconds to allow complete opening of the dentinal tubule. Ten specimens from each group were brushed for 50 and 150 strokes with a V8 Cross Brushing Machine(Sabri Co., U. S. A). All the specimens were evaluated by SEM(
Background: The early detection of anthracycline- induced cardiotoxicity is very important since it might be useful in prevention of cardiac decompensation. This study was designed with the intent of assessing the usefulness of cardiac troponin T (cTnT) and NT- Pro BNP estimation in early prediction of anthracycline induced cardiotoxicity. Materials and Methods: In this prospective study histologically proven breast cancer patients who were scheduled to receive anthracycline containing combination chemotherapy as a part of multimodality treatment were enrolled. Baseline cardiac evaluation was performed by echocardiography (ECHO) and biomarkers like cardiac troponin T (cTnT) and N terminal- pro brain natriuretic peptide (NT- Pro BNP). All patients underwent cTnT and NT- Pro BNP estimation within 24 hours of each cycle of chemotherapy and were followed up after 6 months of initiation of chemotherapy. Any changes in follow up ECHO were compared to ECHO at baseline and cTnT and NT- Pro BNP levels after each cycle of anthracycline-based chemotherapy. Results: Initial data were obtained for 33 patients. Mean change in left ventricular diastolic diameter (LVDD) within 6 months was
Purpose: In protected crop production facilities such as greenhouse and plant factory, farmers should be present and/or visit frequently to the production site for maintaining optimum environmental conditions and better production, which is time and labor consuming. Monitoring of environmental condition is highly important for optimum control of the conditions, and the condition is not uniform within the facility. Objectives of the paper were to investigate spatial and vertical variability in ambient environmental variables and to provide useful information for sensing and control of the environments. Methods: Experiments were conducted in a strawberry-growing greenhouse (greenhouse 1) and a cherry tomato-growing greenhouse (greenhouse 2). Selected ambient environmental variables for experiment in greenhouse 1 were air temperature and humidity, and in greenhouse 2, they were air temperature, humidity, PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density), and
This study aimed to a basic research for the development of dye-sensitized solar cells that the wavelength band required for crop growth is passed, and the wavelength band that is not necessary for crop growth can be used for the generation of electricity. The transmissivity according to the illuminance was about 10% higher in the Blue filter and the Green filter than in the Red filter, but the transmissivity according to the PPFD was about 10% higher in the Red filter and the Blue filter than in the Green filter. In addition, the greenhouse attached with 30% infrared blocking filter was predicted to have a lower air temperature than other greenhouses, but it was investigated that there was no significant difference. Therefore, it was investigated that the application of the infrared cut filter would not be appropriate in a greenhouse that controls the temperature by opening a window. As a result of investigating, it was found that the Green and Blue filter greenhouses had the severe overgrowth and the stems grew weaker. The fresh weight of paprika in the infrared blocking filter greenhouse was the highest at 678.9g, and the growth of Red filter and the control greenhouses was relatively poor. Photosynthetic rate, amount of transpiration, and stomatal conductivity were the infrared blocking filter and control greenhouse higher than others. On the other hand, the water use efficiency did not show a big difference.
Simplified control logic was devised to fabricate and operate the modified atmosphere (MA) container of fresh produce equipped with gas-diffusion tube whose opening/closing was controlled in response to real time
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70
