In the past, the results of window cleaning work have been judged subjective and complaints about cleaning results are being raised. In this study, we tried to quantify the evaluation of the cleaning result. For the quantification of the evaluation, a colorimeter was selected and the basic experiment was carried out. In addition, this study examined the use of standard dust powder for artificial production of contaminants in glasses. Further evaluation and analysis will be carried out to quantify the evaluation criteria of the cleaning results.

This study evaluates the energy performance of super high-rise residential buildings with e-QUEST simulation and calculates the annual cooling and heating load. The result of this study have concluded that the most influential factor is the characteristics of the window and also suggest the most efficient window system from the result of calculation of different glasses' cooling and heating load. The result of this study shows that The most efficient method to enhance the energy performance is to use low reflective 3 pairs Low-E glass and Low-E coating(inside of outer glass) pair glass.
In this study, possibility of the laser eavesdropping is investigated on the window glasses with various thicknesses, Glass windows are excited by maximum length sequency (MLS) signal and the vibration sound is detected by a laser doppler vibrometer. From the detected sound, speech intelligibility is objectively estimated. Speech transmission index (STI), which is based on the modulation transfer function (MTF). is calculated for the estimation. Finally, disturbing wave effect on the speech intelligibility is analysed by using an outside speaker and a window shaker attached on the glass window. The purpose of the study is to estimate the possibility of remote eavesdropping by the laser sensor and to evaluate the performance of the homemade window shaker to protect from the remote eavesdropping.
The use of computer supported fire safety engineering calculations has grown significantly in recent years and will be increased rapidly. In this study, in order to examine for fire dynamics of the enclosed compartment with window glass(3mm, 4mm thickness) when the window glass breaks, we conducted numerical computer simulations about foam sofa fire with the zone type computer mode, FASTLite package(version 1.1.2) and the Berkeley algorithm for breaking window glass in a compartment fire, BREAK1 program (version 1.0). The analysis of the results in this paper shows that there are differences of fire dynamics between open-or enclosed-state compartment fire and the enclosed compartment fire with window glass breaking. It is also shown in this study that backdraft phenomenum occurs due to accumulated unburned combustible fuel when the glass of 4mm thickness breaks, and that temperature differences between the inner-and outer-surfaces of 3mm and 4mm thick glasses are appreciable. This study will help fire fighter to establish fire suppression or occupant's refuge strategies and fire safety engineer to enhance simulation techniques about the five dynamics of compartment fire.
The performance of heat transfer through double pane window has been investigated using experimental and numerical methods. The range of the gap distance between glasses are 0.5-10 cm. The convection heat transfer plays the dominant role for the case of the wide gap distance together with the large Rayleigh number and thereby, reduces the enhanced thermal resistance due to the increased air gap, while the conduction heat transfer does the major role for the case of small gap distance. In order to enhance the thermal insulation of the double pane window, the heat transfer of triple pane window, which is constructed to put one more glass at the middle of the double pane, is investigated to check the reduction of the convection heat transfer together with the effect of the radiation shield due to the presence of the additional glass. Further, a spacer is installed at the middle height of the double pane, and the effect of which on the suppression of the convective heat transfer is analyzed carefully, using experimental and numerical methods. For the case of the spacer-installation, the amount of energy saving is considered about 10%, but the energy saving increases a lot to 30-50% for the case of triple pane window, due to the substantial radiation shield effect of the presence of the additional glass.
Over the past few years, due to the great development of optical communications, an increasing R&D activity has been focused on the design and manufacture of the integrated optic amplifiers, with particular reference to their application in wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) systems. In this technological context, rare-earth-doped oxide glasses, which had been widely used for solid state lasers, gained much attention as highly performing materials in the third telecom window, around 1.5 micron. The aim of the present paper is to provide a brief overview of the progress made, with particular reference to the authors' work in this area, and to shortly discuss its perspectives.
The conventional way to acquire sufficient amount of daylight in interiors is to provide large openings with clear glass. The use of clear glass on the whole facade, however, might cause a sort of visual problem because of the harness of direct sun and brighter sky surface than expected. They should be filtered in opticalway or bounced in the architectural. One of the common solutions for the problem might be the use of photometric glasses with various transmittances for the glass walls. This paper deals with performance data related to the impact of various transmittal glazing materials for window systems in terms of daylighting. A series of scale model measurements was carried out with the fundamental configuration of a commonly used all-glass facades. Additionally some experimental performance index was issued for the better expression of the need of natural lighting.

To use glazing systems protected by automatic sprinklers as fire barriers in building compartmentation, fire endurance tests of these systems have been performed by several research workers. Most of the tests concerned the types of glasses and sprinklers, sprinkler water flow rate, and sprinkler activation time. Horizontal side wall sprinklers and window glazing systems with a vertical center mullion were mainly applied in the tests. In the study, full-scale fire endurance tests were carried out to verify the ability of large glazing systems divided by a horizontal mullion and protected by pendent vertical sprinklers. The result shows that the protrusive length of the horizontal mullion, which is perpendicular to the glass surface, is the main parameter that determines the fire resistance rating of the systems. The mullion obstructs the water flow in the glass.
There exists high hazard when transporting LPG as well as using, storing, and producing. For small scale LPG consumer, retailers deliver LPG to customers via a truck loading many LPG cylinders. Suppose there occurred a accident during LPG cylinder transfer, this could result in serious damages to the life and properties in the near or neighbor of the accident spot. In this regard, we made a quantitative risk analysis to estimate the possible damages and the probability through the identification of accidents causes and the simulation of the possible scenario. In this study, we made the Excel & Visual Basic computer program to perform quantitative LPG accident analysis. The simulation showed the following results. In case of UVCE(Unconfined Vapor Cloud Explosion), the effect within l0m of the accident spot showed very severe structural damages and even the accident can break the window glasses of the area of 150 m apart from accident spot. In case of TNT corresponding probit analysis, after 10 minutes LPG leaking, $75\%$ window glasses of 40 m distance was expected to be broken. And $16\%$ frames of 20m distance, $10\%$ frames of 40m distance was expected to be collapsed.
This study investigates the structural integrity of the amphibious tour bus under the rollover condition. The multi-purpose bus called Dual Mode Tour Bus (DMTB) which explores on land and water has been designed on top of a truck platform. Prior to the fabrication of new upper body and sailing equipment of DMTB, computational analysis investigates the rollover protection of the proposed structure including superstructure, wheels, and axles. The Computer-Aided Design (CAD) of the whole vehicle model is meshed and preprocessed under high performance using the Altair HyperMesh to attain the best mesh model suited for finite element analysis (FEA) on the proposed system. Meanwhile, the numerical model is analyzed by employing LS-DYNA to evaluate the superstructure strength. The numerical model includes detail information about the microstructure and considers wheels and axles as rigid bodies but excludes window glasses, seats, and interior parts. Based on the simulation analysis and proper modifications especially on the rear portion of the bus, the local stiffness significantly increased. The vehicle is rotated to the contact point on the ground based on the mathematical method presented in this study to save computational cost. The results show that the proposed method of rollover analysis is highly significant not only in bus rollover tests but in crashworthiness studies for other application. The critical impartments in our suggested dual-purpose bus accepted and passed "Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) R66".
