A design methodology for transformers including integrated and center-tapped structures for LLC resonant converters is proposed. In the LLC resonant converter, the resonant inductor in the primary side can be merged in the transformer as a leakage inductance. And, the absence of the secondary filter inductor creates low voltage stress on the secondary rectifiers and is cost-effective. A center-tapped structure of the transformer secondary side is widely used in commercial applications because of its higher efficiency and lower cost than full-bridge structures in the rectifying stages. However, this transformer structure has problems of resonance imbalance and transformer inefficiency caused by leakage inductance imbalance in the secondary side and the position of the air-gap in the transformer, respectively. In this paper, gain curves and soft-switching conditions are derived by first harmonic approximation (FHA) and operating circuit simulation. In addition, the effects of the transformer including integrated and center-tapped structures are analyzed by new FHA models and simulations to obtain an optimal design. Finally, the effects of the air-gap position are analyzed by an electromagnetic field simulator. The proposed analysis and design are verified by experimental results with a 385W LLC resonant converter.
A novel step-up DC-DC converter with a switched-coupled-inductor-capacitor (SCIC) which successfully integrates three-winding coupled inductors and switched-capacitor techniques is proposed in this paper. The primary side of the coupled inductors for the SCIC is charged by the input source, and the capacitors are charged in parallel and discharged in series by the secondary windings of the coupled inductor to achieve a high step-up voltage gain with an appropriate duty ratio. In addition, the passive lossless clamped circuits recycle the leakage energy and reduce the voltage stress on the main switch effectively, and the reverse-recovery problem of the diodes is alleviated by the leakage inductor. Thus, the efficiency can be improved. The operating principle and steady-state analyses of the converter are discussed in detail. Finally, a prototype circuit at a 50 kHz switching frequency with a 20-V input voltage, a 200-V output voltage, and a 200-W output power is built in the laboratory to verify the performance of the proposed converter.
This paper presents an improved C-Dump converter system for switched reluctance motors(SRM). The proposed C-Dump converter derived from the conventional converter for SRM. The proposed converter could overcome the limitation of the conventional C-Dump converter, and could reduce the whole cost of the SRM system since the voltage stress of the dump switch $T_d$ is reduced to $V_{dc}$ when compared with $2V_{dc}$ for the conventional C-Dump converter. The attractive features of the proposed converters are; high-efficient and low-cost, elimination of dump inductor, simple control strategy, smaller size arid light weight. The proposed converter is able to be fast magnetization by $2V_{dc}$, which is sum of the input voltage and charging voltage of the dump capacitor. Also, this topology has many advantages such as freewheeling of phase winding without complex control, reduction of current ripple, reduction of torque ripple, and reduction of switching frequency. Simulation demonstrates the good performance of the converter.
Recently. switched reluctance motor is noticed because it is simple in structure and mechanically strong. SRM has great competitive power, and the study is developed about improving the characteristics of SRM. The current density of winding becomes larger in designing SRM that has the characteristics of the low voltage and high current. Hence the current density of SRM of a vehicle is high. And in order that we drive SRM in variable speed and protect the switching device. the current of SRM is limited by chopping. So it is impossible to obtain object value of output characteristics by limited current. In this paper, the author design the shape of SRM from Miller's output equation, and verify the design of SRM by using FEM. The waveform of chopping current is predicted by simulation and concur with experimental result. And the torque is improved by applying overlap current.

We propose a high voltage dc-dc converter for a CW (continuous wave) $CO_2$ laser system using a current resonant half-bridge inverter and a Cockcroft-Walton circuit. This high voltage power supply includes a 2-stage voltage multiplier driven by a regulated half-bridge series resonant inverter. The inverter drives a step-up transformer and the secondary transformer is applied to the voltage multiplier. It is highly efficient because of the reduced amount of switching losses by virtue of the current resonant half-bridge inverter, and also due to the small size, low parasitic capacitance in the transformer stage owing to the low number of winding turns of the step up secondary transformer combined with the Cockroft-Walton circuit. We obtained a maximum laser output power of 44 W and a maximum system efficiency of over 16%.
Recently, the RF inductive discharge or inductively coupled plasma (ICP) continues to attract growing attention as an effective plasma source in many industrial applications, the best known of which are plasma processing and lighting technology. To the point of lighting sources, the electrodeless fluorescent lamps utilizing an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) have been objects of interest and research during the last decades, mainly because of their potential for extremely long life, high lamp efficacies, rapid power switching response. The electrodeless fluorescent lamp that is dealt with in this work comprises a bulb filled with rare gas and amalgam of vaporizable metal and has a coil provided with a winding around the ferrite. Current through a coil produces a magnetic field in the discharge space. The changing magnetic flux then produces an azimuthal electric field E around the coil, according to Faraday's laws of magnetic induction.

The technology of inductive power transfer has been proved to be a promising solution in many applications especially in electric vehicle (EV) charging systems, due to its features of safety and convenience. However, loosely coupled transformers lead to the system efficiency not coming up to the expectation at the present time. Therefore, at first, the magnetic core losses are calculated with a novel magnetic-circuit model instead of the commonly used finite-element-method (FEM) simulations. The parameters in the model can be obtained with a one-time FEM simulation, which makes the calculation process expeditious. When compared with traditional methods, the model proposed in the paper is much less time-consuming and relatively accurate. These merits have been verified by experimental results. Furthermore, with the proposed loss calculation model, the system is optimized by parameter sweeping, such as the operating frequency and winding turns. Specifically, rather than a predesigned switching frequency, a more efficiency-optimized frequency for the series-parallel (SP) compensation topology is detected and a detailed investigation has been presented accordingly. The optimized system is capable of an efficiency that is greater than 93% at a coil separation distance of 200mm and coil dimensions of $600mm{\times}400mm$.
