As an emerging materials in construction fields, FRP(fiber reinforced polymer) has been used in many area of civil engineering for its light weight and high strength. In this study we chose the 2nd Jindo-Bridge as a prototype, and evaluate effect of replacing steel components to FRP components through simplified 3D linear analysis. Static and modal analysis are done and the analysis results are compared with steel case analysis. From the static analysis results, the maximum stress of each component and maximum displacement of middle span are compared. Due to the reduction of deadload, the FRP structure causes less deflection than the original steel structure and from the reduced section (cable) analysis we confirmed the previous result. The occurrence wind velocity of flutter is compared by the frequency ratio.
In order to clarify the impact of regional warming on the meteorological field and air quality over southeastern part of Korean Peninsula, several numerical experiment were carried out. Numerical models used in this study are WRF for the estimate the meteorological elements and CMAQ for assessment of ozone concentration. According to the global warming impact, initial air temperature were changed and its warming rate reach at 2 degree which was based on the global warming scenarios provided by IPCC. The experiments considering the global warming at initial stage were presented as case T_UP. Air temperature over inland area during night time for case T_UP is higher than that for Base case. During time since the higher temperature over inland area is maintained during daytime more intensified sea breeze should be induced and also decrease the air temperature in vicinity of coast area. In case of T_UP, high level concentrations ozone distribution area was narrowed and their disappearance were faster after 1800LST. As a results, wind and temperature fields due to the global warming at initial stage mainly results in the pattern of ozone concentration and its temporal variation at South-Eastern Part of the Korean Peninsula.
This article explores the speed regulation problem of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) systems subjected to unknown time-varying disturbances. A continuous sliding mode control (CSMC) technique is introduced for the speed loop to enhance the robustness of PMSM systems and eliminate the chattering phenomenon caused by high-frequency switch function in the conventional control law. However, the high control gain of the CSMC law in the presence of strong disturbances leads to large steady-state speed fluctuations for PMSM systems. In many application fields, PMSM systems are affected by time-varying disturbances instead of constant disturbances. For example, electric bicycles are usually affected by changing environmental disturbances, including wind speeds, road conditions, etc. These disturbances may be in the form of constant, ramp, and parabolic disturbances. Hence, a generalized proportional integral (GPI) observer is employed to estimate these types of disturbances. Then, the disturbance estimation method and the aforementioned CSMC method are combined to establish a composite sliding mode control method called the CSMC+GPI method for the speed loop of PMSM systems. Contrary to the conventional sliding mode control technique, the proposed method completely eliminates the chattering phenomenon caused by the switching function in the conventional control law. Moreover, a small control gain for the CSMC+GPI method is chosen by feed-forwarding estimated values to the speed controller. Hence, the steady-state speed fluctuations are small. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is verified by simulation and experimental result.

Objectives : This report describes 241 prescriptions related to the use of Gardenia Fructus blended prescriptions from Dongeuibogam. Methods : The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Gardeniae Fructus. Results : The Gardeniae Fructus is used in 49 fields of treatment such as urinary diseases, jaundice and furuncle, etc. Prescriptions that utilize Gardeniae Fructus are used in the treatment of fever, eye disease, hemorrhage, skin disease, ear disease, internal disease and so on. In the view of the causative agent of a disease, the prescriptions which are compounded with Gardeniae Fructus are related to endogenous agents such as jaundice, seven emotion, alcohol, exogenous agents such as cold, wind, heat and non-endo-exopathogenic factors like disease due to external factor, injury. The dosage of Gardeniae Fructus is 1pun(about 0.375) to 5don 5pun(about 21g), however 5pun(about 1.87g)~1don(about 3.75g) has been taken the most for clinical application. Conclusions : Hwangryunhaedok-tang is the most base prescriptions which use the Gardenia Fructus. Gardeniae Fructus is mainly used as a raw material.
The effects of satellite observations on large-scale atmospheric circulations in the reanalysis data are investigated by comparing the latest Japanese Meteorological Association's reanalysis data (JRA-55) and its family data, JRA-55 Conventional (JRA-55C). The latter is identical to the former except that satellite observations are excluded during the data assimilation process. Only conventional datasets are assimilated in JRA-55C. A simple comparison revealed a considerable difference in temperature and zonal wind fields in both the stratosphere and troposphere. Such differences are particularly large in the Southern Hemisphere and whole stratosphere where conventional ground-based measurements are limited. The effects of satellite observations on the zonal-mean tropospheric circulations are further examined in terms of the Hadley cell, eddy-driven jet, and mid-latitude storm tracks. In both hemispheres, JRA-55C exhibits slightly weaker and narrower Hadley cell than JRA-55. This is consistent with a weaker diabatic heating in JRA-55C. The eddy-driven jet shows a small difference in its latitudinal location only in the Southern Hemisphere. Likewise, while the Northern-Hemisphere storm tracks are quantitatively similar in the two datasets, Southern-Hemisphere storm tracks are relatively weaker in JRA-55C than in JRA-55. Their difference is comparable to the uncertainty between reanalysis datasets, indicating that satellite data assimilation could yield significant corrections in the zonal-mean circulation in the Southern Hemisphere.

An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the flow field around the wing having a circular damage hole. The damage was represented by a circular hole passing through the model with 10% airfoil chord diameter and normal to the chord. The hole was centered at quarter or half chord. The PIV flow fields and static pressure measurements on the wing upper and lower surface were carried out at Rec=2.85×105 based on the chord length. The PIV results showed the two types of flow structures around a damage hole were formed. The first one was a weak jet that formed an attached wake behind the damage hole. The second one resulted from increased incidence; this was a strong jet where the flow through the hole penetrates into the free-stream resulting in extensive separation of oncoming boundary layer flow and development of a separated wake with reverse flow. The surface pressure data showed a big pressure alteration near the circular damage hole. The severity of pressure alteration was increased as a damage hole located nearer to the leading edge.
A ballast-flying probabilitie is suggested for various ballast types, heighter types and underbody flow conditions as train speeds. The average speed of measured points is converted to the ballast-flying probabilities of BFPF which come from wind tunnel test data. Underbody flow fields are numerically simulated for the various conditions. The results show that the ballast-flying probability is steeply increased as train speed increased, and reaches a value of 87% at 350 km/h train speed. And the differences of probabilities among the ballast shapes are considerably high. The upper surface of heighter or tie is most probable area. Through this study, the ballast-flying Sensitivities with heighter was defined to understand the characteristics of ballast-flying probability on various conditions. And the ballast-flying probability can be reduced by the heighter.
Stochastic processes are used to represent phenomena in many diverse fields. Numerical simulation method is widely applied for the solution to stochastic problems of complex structures when alternative analytical methods are not applicable. In some practical applications the stochastic processes show non-Gaussian properties. When the stochastic processes deviate significantly from Gaussian, techniques for their accurate simulation must be available. The various existing simulation methods of non-Gaussian stochastic processes generally can only simulate super-Gaussian stochastic processes with the high-peak characteristics. And these methodologies are usually complicated and time consuming, not sufficiently intuitive. By revealing the inherent coupling effect of the phase and amplitude part of discrete Fourier representation of random time series on the non-Gaussian features (such as skewness and kurtosis) through theoretical analysis and simulation experiments, this paper presents a novel approach for the simulation of non-Gaussian stochastic processes with the prescribed amplitude probability density function (PDF) and power spectral density (PSD) by amplitude modulation and phase reconstruction. As compared to previous spectral representation method using phase modulation to obtain a non-Gaussian amplitude distribution, this non-Gaussian phase reconstruction strategy is more straightforward and efficient, capable of simulating both super-Gaussian and sub-Gaussian stochastic processes. Another attractive feature of the method is that the whole process can be implemented efficiently using the Fast Fourier Transform. Cases studies demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed algorithm.
An attempt is made to analyse characteristic features of heavy rainfalls which occur at the metropolitan area of the Korean peninsular the on- and off- Changma season. For this, two representative heavy rainfall episodes are selected; one is the on-Changma season wherein a torrential rain episode happened at Goyang city on 12 July 2006, and the other is the off-Changma season, a heavy rainfall event in Seoul on 21 September 2006. Both recorded considerable amounts of precipitation, over 250mm in a half-day, which greatly exceeded the amount expected by numerical prediction models at those times, and caused great damage to property and life in the affected area. Similarities in the characteristics of both episodes were shown by; the location of upper-level jet streak and divergence fields of the upper wind over heavy rainfall areas, significantly high equivalent potential temperatures in the low atmospheric layer due to the entrainment of hot and humid air by the low-level jet, and the existence of very dry air and cold air pool in the middle layer of the atmosphere at the peak time of the rainfall events. Among them, differences in dynamic features of the low-level jet and the position of rainfall area along the low-level jet are remarkable.
