  • This paper compares the two most widely used seasonal adjustment methods: the X-12-ARIMA and TRAMO-SEATS procedures. The basic features of these methods are discussed and compared in both their theoretical and empirical aspects. In doing so, the X-13A-S program is used to reevaluate their applicability to Korean macroeconomic data by considering possible structural breaks in the series. The finding is that both methods provide very reliable and stable estimates of seasonal factors and seasonally adjusted data. As for the empirical comparisons, TRAMO-SEATS appears to outperform X-12-ARIMA, although the results are somewhat mixed depending on the comparison criteria used and on the series under analysis. In particular, the performance of TRAMO-SEATS turns out to compare more favorably when seasonal adjustment is carried out to each sub-samples (by taking possible structural breaks into account) than when the whole sample period is used. The result suggests that as the model-based TRAMO-SEATS has a considerable theoretical appeal, some features of TRAMO-SEATS should further be incorporated into X-12-ARIMA until a standard and integrated procedure is reached by combining the theoretical coherence of TRAMO-SEATS and the empirical usefulness of X-12-ARIMA.

  • This study was done to compare the educational effects of two nursing students groups, CPR theoretical and practical education versus CPR theoretical education only. It would be used as a basis for more effective CPR training of future nursing students. The subjects in study were 72 nursing students in D college D city, from august 22 to august 24, 2011. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 18.0 program for the frequency, percentage, $x^2$-test, t-test and paired t-test. On the findings of this study, CPR training improved not only CPR performance but also self-efficacy in the both groups. Especially, the combination with theoretical and practical education was seen as a more effective methods. Therefore, combinational training would be required for more effective CPR training, rather than focusing on training for improving their simple knowledge. Furthermore, it will help nursing students to perform quickly and accurately CPR in unforeseen situations.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and test an explanatory model on functional capacity in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease using path analysis. Methods: Data were collected from 149 chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients using 6-minute walk test, measurement of oxygen saturation, pulmonary function test, and self-reported questionnaires from June to October, 2005. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 12.0 program and AMOS/WIN 4.0 program. Results: The overall fitness indices of modified model were good($x^2$ = 14.324, p = .281 GFI = .981, RMSEA = .006, AGFI = .944, NFI = .927, NNFI = .999, CFI = .999, PNFI = .613, $x^2$/df = 1.194). Functional capacity was influenced directly by age(${\beta}$ = -.304, p = .000), dyspnea(${\beta}$ = -.278, p = .000), self-efficacy(${\beta}$ = .240, p = .000), social support(${\beta}$ = .175, p = .004), pulmonary function(${\beta}$ = .169, p = .008), and oxygen saturation(${\beta}$ = .099, p = .048). These variables explained 39.3% in functional capacity. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that comprehensive nursing interventions should focus on decreasing dyspnea and increasing self-efficacy, social support, and oxygen saturation. In this perspective, pulmonary rehabilitation would be an effective strategy for improving functional capacity in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

  • This study proposes the method to make a map of moving environment area and passed area by sensor using for recognizing environment or avoiding obstacle. We win develop an efficient algorithm to use sensors and get the data by the user friendly system. Through this system, we win study the way to know of the driving environment of moving robot on the long distance point. To this, we use only one ultra-sonic sensor with a servo motor which rotates 180 degree and loads an ultra-sonic sensor. A sensor can measure 1m${\sim}$8m range and a servo motor can distinguish 15 degree by 12 divide of 180 degree. By this feature of operating system, the robot which has these sensor module detects around of area and moves another point. In this way, users gather the data of detecting distance and change the data to X-Y coordinates. And users derive a map from these accumulate data.

  • We herein present the design and fabrication of a Rx core chip operating in the X-band (10.5~13 GHz) using Win's commercial $0.25-{\mu}m$ GaAs pHEMT process technology. The X-band core chip comprises a low-noise amplifier, a four-bit phase shifter, and a serial-to-parallel data converter. The size is $1.75mm{\times}1.75mm$, which is the state-of-the-art size. The gain and noise figure are more than 10 dB but less than 2 dB, and both the input and output return losses are less than 10 dB. The RMS phase error is less than $5^{\circ}$, and the P1dB is 2 dBm at 12.5 GHz, the performance of which is equivalent to other GaAs core chips. The fabricated core chip was packaged in a QFN package type with a size of $3mm{\times}3mm$ for the convenience of assembly. We confirmed that the performance of the packaged core chip was almost the same as that of the chip itself.

  • This paper presents a new learning model, "BoX(Battle of X)", which is based on a concept from the culture of B-Boys who enjoy the race of "distributed cognition" to win in their contests. The "battle" means a contest and "X" means a course to which our learning model can be applied. The goal of this paper is to present a learning model that allow students to be in a state of learning-flow and provides them with the ability of creative problem solving simultaneously. The key of the "BoX" implementation is to design a principle that controls contests between students to maximize distributed cognitive activities for reducing individual's cognitive load. This paper also presents how-to of "BoX" implementation and its effects. Through the analysis on learning achievement of students during one year course of IT education, we have confirmed that the "BoX" model provides students with higher learning achievement and learning-flow level in comparison with traditional learning model.
