저전압 고속 전류형 Pipelined A/D 변환기의 설계 (Design of A Low-Voltage and High-Speed Pipelined A/D Converter Using Current-Mode Signals)

  • An 8-bit 2-stage pipelined current mode A/D converter is designed with a new architecture, where the wideband track-and-hold amplifiers which have 2 integrators in parallel sample input signal twice per clock cycle. The conversion speed of the A-D converter is two times faster than that of conventional pipelined method. The converter is designed to be operated at the power supply voltage of 3.3V with the input dynamic range of 0-256$\mu$A. HSPICE simulation results show the performance of up to 55Msamples/s and power consumption of 150mW with the parameters of ISRC $1.5\mu$m BICMOS process. The chip area is 3${\times}4mm^{2}$.

  • The Korean Solar Radio Burst Locator (KSRBL) is a solar radio spectrograph observing the frequency range between 0.245-18 GHz with the capability of locating the wideband gyrosynchrotron bursts. Its calibration process consists of antenna calibration, flux calibration, and demodulation. Antenna calibration is to determine the position, the width, and the peak value of the beam, flux calibration is to determine the conversion factor between the measured unit to the Solar Flux Unit (SFU), and demodulation is to determine the burst position and remove the modulation pattern. We introduce the current calibration software and some information that potential users may concern.

  • In this paper an approach for the analysis of the transient field response of radially symmetric transducer due to a wideband ultrasonic pulse is presented, which is based on a development of Green's function and applies the linear system theory to obtain an analytic expression for the impulse response of an annulus with a planar or spherical geometry. For the focused annular array, the impulse responses of the indivisual annuli are convolved with the delayed excitation pulse, and then summed to obtain the resultant response of the array. This process is very effective in the study of the various focusing abilities of the annular array. For illustration, the field distribution of a five element annular array is treated in detail for several focusing system.

  • 현대의 다양한 통신시스템의 발달과 더불어 에너지의 효율적인 전송을 위해서 반드시 필요한 구조는 안테나이다. 특히, 이동성을 보장하는 시스템에서는 더더욱 소형 안테나가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 비교적 고출력용으로 사용되며 low-profile이면서 낮은 주파수 대역에서 동작할 뿐만 아니라 광대역 특성을 가지는 안테나의 종류들 및 그 특성에 관해서 시뮬레이션 및 제작을 통하여 고찰해 보고자 한다.

  • In this paper, A VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) in use of clock recovery/data regeneration circuit for 10 Gbps fiber optic receivers was developed. The improved hair-pin resonator with a parallel coupled lines, which has been applied to microstrip filters, was used as a resonance part. As a frequcncy tuning device by substituting 3-terminalMESFET vaaractor for varactor diode, an MMIC manufacturing process will be simplified. Since a hair-pin resonator is planar type compared to the dielectric resonator and has a relatively flat reactance verus frequency, it will be favorable to apply a hair-pin resonator to an MMIC, in addition wideband frequency tuning range is able to be obtained.

  • The evolution of mobile communications is inducting several new issues belonging to the system engineering disciplines. this paper tires to underline some of the most important problems staring room the novel requirements and the application characteristics expected for Third Generation Mobile System. Based on these new service peculiarities. the radio resource control and the architectural solutions to be chosen for the Mobile core network are becoming key issues to be investigated for the forthcoming configurations.   • This paper presents a dual band frequency synthesizer for GSM and Wideband CDMA which is designed in a standard 0.13um CMOS 1P6M process. The shared components include phase frequency detector (PFD), charge pump (CP), loop filter, integer frequency divider(128/129 DMP, 4bit PC, 3bit SC) and Low noise Ring-VCO. A high-speed low power dual modulus prescaler is proposed to operate up to 2.1GHz at 3.3V supply voltage with 2mW power consumption by simulation. The simulated phase noise of VCO is -101dBc/Hz at 200kHz offset frequency from 1.9GHz.

Double Binary Turbo Coded Data Transmission of STBC UWB Systems for U-Healthcare Applications

  • In this paper, we analyze and simulate performance of space time block coded (STBC) binary pulse amplitude modulation-direct sequence (BPAM-DS) ultra-wideband (UWB) systems with double binary turbo code in indoor environments for various ubiquitous healthcare (u-healthcare) applications. Indoor wireless channel is modeled as a modified Saleh and Valenzuela (SV) model proposed as a UWB indoor channel model by the IEEE 802.15.SG3a in July 2003. In the STBC encoding process, an Alamouti algorithm for real-valued signals is employed because UWB signals have the type of real signal constellation. It is assumed that the transmitter has knowledge about channel state information. From simulation results, it is shown that the STBC scheme does not have an influence on improving bit error probability performance of the BPAM-DS UWB systems. It is also confirmed that the results of this paper can be applicable for u-healthcare applications.

High-Robust Relaxation Oscillator with Frequency Synthesis Feature for FM-UWB Transmitters

  • A CMOS relaxation oscillator, with high robustness over process, voltage and temperature (PVT) variations, is designed in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS. The proposed oscillator, consisting of full-differential charge-discharge timing circuit and switched-capacitor based voltage-to-current conversion, could be expanded to a simple open-loop frequency synthesizer (FS) with output frequency digitally tuned. Experimental results show that the proposed oscillator conducts subcarrier generation for frequency-modulated ultra-wideband (FM-UWB) transmitters with triangular amplitude distortion less than 1%, and achieves frequency deviation less than 8% under PVT and phase noise of -112 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset frequency. Under oscillation frequency of 10.5 MHz, the presented design has the relative FS error less than 2% for subcarrier generation and the power dissipation of 0.6 mW from a 1.8 V supply.

진화 전략 기법을 이용한 광대역 격리형 UWB-MIMO 안테나 최적설계 (Optimal Design of a UWB-MIMO Antenna with a Wide Band Isolation using ES Algorithm)

  • In this paper, a compact planar ultra wideband (UWB, 3.1~10.6GHz) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is proposed. This antenna consists of two monopole planar UWB antennas and T-shaped stub decoupling between two antennas. The T-shaped stub improve the isolation characteristic at the wide band. The evolution strategy(ES) algorithm is employed to optimized design. As a result, optimized antenna has a return loss less than -10dB and the isolation less than -15dB from 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz. During the optimization process, the antenna gain is enhanced at lower band and the envelope correlation coefficient(ECC) is lower than 0.003.
