  • WiBro는 휴대 인터넷, 무선 광대역 인터넷, 무선 초고속 인터넷 등으로 풀이된다. 이동전화처럼 언제 어디서나 이동하면서도 초고속으로 인터넷을 이용할 수 있는 서비스로, 한국이 국제 표준화를 주도하고 있는 3.5세대 이동통신 서비스이자 국책사업이다. 기존의 무선인터넷 환경은 이동통신사에서 제공하는 컨텐츠에만 접근이 가능한 폐쇄적인 구조이지만 WiBro를 비롯한 3.5세대의 무선인터넷 서비스로 개방형 구조로 전환된다. 본 논문에서는 WiBro와 WiMAX의 차이점과 시스템의 특징 및 구조에 대하여 알아보고 휴대 인터넷의 핵심 기술인 핸드오버를 WiBro상에서 어떻게 구현했는지에 관해 살펴보고자 한다.

  • Nowadays the integration of heterogeneous wireless networks become a hot issue in communications research area. Especiall,y, 3G and WiBro interworking will be introduced soon as users can be offered the most suitable service according to service area and service providers can reduce network construction and operation expenses. In this paper, we propose an interworking scheme for fast handoff between 3G and WiBro networks. The SCI (Smoothly Coupled Integration) scheme proposed in this paper takes advantages of the existing LCI (Loosely Coupled Integration) and TCI (Tightly Coupled Integration) scheme and can offer seamless services by providing fast handoff between 3G and WiBro although each network may work independently. Through extensive computer simulations using OPNET, the efficiency of the proposed scheme has been validated.

  • 2010년경 에 확정될 4세대 이동통신 표준인 ITU-R의 IMT-Advanced 표준을 대비하여 기 개발된 WiBro의 고도화 작업이 필요하다. 본 고에서는 2006년부터 2008년까지 한국전자통신연구원과 삼성전자가 공동 연구로 진행한 WiBro Evolution 시스템에 대하여 기술한다. WiBro Evolution 시스템의 기술적인 특징들을 살펴보고 WiBro Evolution 단말 관점에서의 구현에 대해 기술한다.

  • Cognitive Radio (CR) technology is proposed for using the unused spectrum band efficiently because of the spectrum scarcity problems. Spectrum sensing is one of the most challenging issues in cognitive radio system. In this paper, we focus on the signal detection of WiBro system band. As most of the modulated signals can be treated as cyclostationary random process, we can detect the signal of the OFDM signals in WiBro system. OFDM symbols using WiBro system have several pilot subcarriers and periodic pilots have cyclostationary characteristic. To improve the detection performance, we get diversity gain using multiple antennas.

  • 최근 IPv6 기반 WiBro 망에서 다수의 사용자가 동종망간 혹은 이기종망간 인터넷 연결을 유지하면서 그룹으로 이동하는 상황에서의 핸드오버 처리 폭증 및 핸드오버 지연 시간 문제를 효율적으로 해결할수 있는 기술 및 시스템이 요구되어 지고 있다. 본 이동 AP는 IPv6 기반 WiBro 망에서 다양한 광대역무선망 접속 및 다양한 하향 단말 접속이 가능한 하드웨어 기반에 네트워크 이동성 기술를 구현하여 IPv6 기반 WiBro 네트워크 실, 내외 환경에서 이동성을 지원하지 않는 다수의 단말들이 네트워크 이동시 각 단말들의 이동성 처리가 수행됨을 확인하였으며 관련 서비스 연속성이 유지됨을 시험을 통해 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • Using the repeaters is indispensable to WiBro services. Repeater types are distinguished by usage, output power and required performance. In the paper, we have studied on the WiBro digital optic repeater design which has excellent performance characteristic than any other repeaters. WiBro has specific characteristic on modulation method TDD(Time Division Duplex)/OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) so that it demands specified H/W to design WiBro repeater. Switching technique has been introduced because of TDD characteristic in each amplifier on the repeater. Time Advance technique has been considered because of OFDM characteristic among RAS(Radio Access Station) and repeater. In this paper, we have studied on these techniques to increase repeater cell coverage and distance between RAS and repeater.

  • Co channel interference and adjacent channel interference of (WiBro) into Wireless LAN (WLAN) in TV White Spaces (TVWS) is evaluated through Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte Carlo Analysis Tool (SEAMCAT) based on the Monte-Carlo simulation method. As a result, in the case of co channel interference, the minimum distance between WiBro Mobile Station (MS) and WLAN User Equipment (UE) should be 210 m to allow the maximum transmitter power of WiBro UE of 25 dBm. The transmit power of WiBro BS have to be reduced to -4.96 dBm.

  • As the name means, the WiBro is mobile service so that radio internet connection may be possible with high transmission speed using various terminal. Because WiBro is choosing suitable All-lP network architecture in internet service offer, structure of network is simple and the various supplementary service offer is available. This paper presented mobility model of terminal and proposed efficient way to improve existent way that transfer efficiency drops by data padding and analyze the performance by simulation.
