Cable failure investigations must evaluate all facets of cable technology to reach a complete understanding of why and how an underground power cable failed. This paper presents the salient points of a recent investigation into an in-service failure after only several weeks of operation.

The goal of telecommunication may be to enable the participants in distant places to communicate with each other in an environment as if they were in the same room. This paper introduces the reason why realistic audio display is useful in telecommunication, reviews some approaches to its implementation, and proposes an audio teleconference model which realizes a two-way telecommunication with realistic sensations using binaural and auralization techniques.

We investigate the fundamental mechanisms of the dynamic instability when the sinusoidal shaped arch structures subjected to sinusoidal harmonic excitation with pin-ends. In nonlinear dynamics, examining the characteristics of attractor on the phase plane and investigating the dynamic buckling process are very important thing for understanding why unstable phenomena are sensitively originated by various initial conditions. In this study, the direct and the indirect snap-buckling of shallow arches considering geometrical nonlinearity are investigated numerically and compared with the step excitation critical load.

The maximum span length is decided by the relation among the independent factors of rail, train and catenary. However, During the calculation of the maximum span length with the way of Kyung-Bu High railway design using by the commercial program $\ulcorner$MATLAB$\lrcorner$ the mathematical error was founded. Therefore, this paper presents the analysis of the reason why caused the mathematical error occur.

This paper deals with non-rhoticity of Korean and Cantonese in English loanword adaptation. These two languages have quite different cultural and historical backgrounds with respect to English. The influence of the American accent prevails in Korea while in Cantonese the influence is British. However, the treatment of coda-/r/ from English illustrates that both languages are the same in that they use a non-rhotic accent. The main point of this paper is to show that the non-rhoticity of these two languages must be accounted for by their native phonological systems rather than extralinguistic factors such as historical. social and / or cultural backgrounds.

This is a study on perception errors of Korean stops in word initial position. This study will show how listeners perceive manipulated Korean stops through two experiments and I will analyze why they are confused. In addition, 1 will show those perception errors not only reflect the relationship between the place and manner of articulation but also ate deeply related to the length of aspiration.

We sampled 167 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade students to assess who, why, and in what situations they asked for help when they had problems in math class. Results indicated that students generally perferred(??) classmates to the teacher as helpers but they saw the teacher as more likely to facilitate learning. Second graders perceived a closer personal relationship with their teacher than sixth graders. At the upper grades, student were more likely to report asking for assistance if they thought that other students also needed assistance.

After a long, dormant period, recent attention has turned to a variety of measurement issues surrounding the concept of human capital. The traditional approach of rely entirely on measures of school attainment, while convenient, is almost certainly misleading. The availability of cognitive skills measures greatly improves on these measurements, but there remains also concern about other unmeasured factors, including noncognitive skills. This paper considers alternative approaches to assessing the role of human capital on individual earnings and on economic growth.

The existing Swash Plate Type Axial Piston Motor rapidly drops efficiency at high speed in comparison with low speed. This is the reason why the motor was designed only in a viewpoint of minimum of power supply. But, in this paper, the motor which was optimally designed in a veiwpoint not only power supply but also load capacitancy, flow loss volume, axial stiffness and tilting stiffness keeps up high efficiency at high speed.

We studied about the adopted system to POSCO facility which is very complexity and various as an example for studying a facility diagnosis and management system that is starting to be distinguished in the nowadays. At the first, explain what's the background why POSCO adopted the system, and it's goal, and it's promoting direction and ways. And there after studied it's results and effective analysis. Finally inquiry about the future improvement and development items through problems which become known during the project periods.
