  • Because the damages of corrosion resulting from the chloride ion are very serious, many research studies have been performed to measure the penetration depth of the chloride ion. However, there is a problem with data selection obtained from collection during experiments. In this study, it appears that the collected data are not conformed to a normal distribution. The result of this study will play a very important role, as a first step for the development and construction of a forecasting system to help determine a reliable service lifetime of marine structures.

수학에 대한 은유와 철학적 문제들 (Metaphors for Mathematics and Philosophical Problems)

  • The goal of this essay is to examine metaphors for mathematics and to discuss philosophical problems related to them. Two metaphors for mathematics are well known. One is a tree and the other is a building. The former was proposed by Pasch, and the latter by Hilbert. The difference between these metaphors comes from different philosophies. Pasch's philosophy is a combination of empiricism and deductivism, and Hilbert's is formalism whose final task is to prove the consistency of mathematics. In this essay, I try to combine two metaphors from the standpoint that 'mathematics is a part of the ecosystem of science', because each of them is not good enough to reflect the holistic mathematics. In order to understand mathematics holistically, I suggest the criteria of the desirable philosophy of mathematics. The criteria consists of three categories: philosophy, history, and practice. According to the criteria, I argue that it is necessary to pay attention to Pasch's philosophy of mathematics as having more explanatory power than Hilbert's, though formalism is the dominant paradigm of modern mathematics. The reason why Pasch's philosophy is more explanatory is that it contains empirical nature. Modern philosophy of mathematics also tends to emphasize the empirical nature, and the synthesis of forms with contents agrees with the ecological analogy for mathematics.

Personalized Anti-spam Filter Considering Users' Different Preferences

  • Conventional filters using email header and body information equally judge whether an incoming email is spam or not. However this is unrealistic in everyday life because each person has different criteria to judge what is spam or not. To resolve this problem, we consider user preference information as well as email category information derived from the email content. In this paper, we have developed a personalized anti-spam system using ontologies constructed from rules derived in a data mining process. The reason why traditional content-based filters are not applicable to the proposed experimental situation is described. In also, several experiments constructing classifiers to decide email category and comparing classification rule learners are performed. Especially, an ID3 decision tree algorithm improved the overall accuracy around 17% compared to a conventional SVM text miner on the decision of email category. Some discussions about the axioms generated from the experimental dataset are given too.

닭 전염성 기관지염 바이러스 한국분리주의 분자생물학적, 역학적 특성 (Molecular and Epidemiological Characteristics of Infectious Bronchitis Virus Isolated in Korea)

  • Phylogenetic tree constructed from the nucleotide sequences of the S1 gene showed that the 15 Korean strains of infectious bronchitis virus(IBV) examined were classified into 2 genetically distinct groups, except one respiratory strain, RB86, which was clustered with Massachusetts group. All the 5 respiratory strains belonged to Korean group I and the rest 9 nephropathogenic strains belonged to Korean group II according to the analysis, based on S1 gene sequences. Like previous classifications corresponded with the geographic origin, Korean stains were discriminated from geographically distinct reference strains of IBV. The nephropathogenic strains within Korean group IIsharing 96% homology were continuously isolated since 1990, and seemed to be genetically stable. Whereas the respiratory strains within Korean group Ⅰ sharing 88% homology were sporadically isolate since 1986m and seemed to be genetically unstable. Because we found putative accumulated point mutation as well as recombination events in Korean group Ⅰ, we discussed why genetic variations have often occurred in respiratory strains rather than nephropathognic strains.

VANET에서 효율적인 분산적 데이터 복제본 할당 기법 (Efficient Distributed Allocation Method of Data Replica in VANET)

  • 차량 간의 애드훅 네트워크 (VANET)은 모바일 애드훅 네트워크 (MANET)의 일종으로 차량 간의 무선 링크를 통하여 임시적인 정보 전송을 가능케 한다. VANET에서는 차량이 하나의 노드로 참여하면서 정보를 전송한다. 하지만 차량은 빠르게 이동하기 때문에 빈번하게 연결이 끊기게 된다. 이렇게 빈번하게 연결이 끊기기 때문에 차량의 데이터 접근성이 떨어지게 된다. 기존 연구에서는 모바일 애드훅 네트워크 환경에서 데이터 복제본 할당 기법을 통하여 노드의 데이터 접근성을 향상시키고자 하였다. 하지만 기존 연구에서 제안한 중앙 집중식 그룹 방법은 차량 간의 애드훅 네트워크에서는 빠르게 이동하는 차량 때문에 적합하지 않다. 본 연구에서는 데이터 복제본 할당을 분산적인 그룹 방법으로 할 수 있는 TBG (Tree Based Grouping)기법을 제안한다. 노드 자신 만의 TBG를 형성하여 연결의 안정성을 기반으로 데이터 복제본을 할당하여 데이터 접근성을 향상시킨다. 실험 평가를 통해 기존 기법에 비해 데이터 접근성이 크게 향상됨을 보여준다.

HR 데이터 기반의 퇴사 예측 모델 개발 (Development of a Resignation Prediction Model using HR Data)

  • 대부분의 기업에서는 우수한 인적 자원의 유출을 방지하기 위해 직원들이 이직 및 퇴사하는 이유를 연구한다. 이에 기업은 직원이 퇴사하기 전에 면담을 하거나 설문조사를 통해서 연구에 필요한 데이터를 얻는다. 하지만 설문조사에서는 직원들이 직장 생활을 하는 데에 불리할 수도 있는 의견을 드러내려고 하지 않아 정확한 결과를 얻기 힘든 것이 현실이다. 한편, 한국노동연구원에서 발표한 자료에 따르면 기업이 요구하는 최소 학력 수준과 직원의 학력 수준 간의 차이가 클수록 이직 경향이 커진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 한국노동연구원의 자료에 착안하여, 직원이 가지고 있는 객관적 데이터인 전공, 교육수준, 재직 중인 회사 유형 등의 데이터를 기반으로 직원의 퇴사 여부를 예측하고자 한다. 퇴사 예측 모델을 생성하기 Decision Tree, XGBoost, kNN, SVM을 활용하였으며 각각의 성능을 비교했다. 이 결과, 지금까지 설문조사로 진행되었던 연구에서 파악하지 못한 다양한 요인을 알아낼 수 있었다. 이를 통해 기업이 퇴사 예측 모델을 이용하여 직원이 퇴사하기 전에 미리 이를 인지하고 방지하는 데에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

고전식물명 '회(檜)'에 관한 고찰 (An Observation of the Classic Plant Name 'Hwe(檜)')

  • 이 글에서 논하고자 하는 고전식물명 '회(檜)'에 관한 고찰은 고문헌을 통한 민속식물연구에 있어 우선하여 진행되어야 하는 부분이라고 판단된다. 고문헌 속에는 식물의 특징 이용방법 분포 등 다양한 정보가 산재해 있다. 하지만 이러한 정보를 활용하기 위해서는 먼저 고전식물명에 대한 검토가 이루어져야 한다. 식물명에 대한 충분한 검증이 있고 난 뒤에야 비로소 그 식물에 대한 정보를 활용할 수 있기 때문이다. '회'의 경우 우리나라에서는 여러 가지 의미로 해석되고 있는데, 대체로 전나무 노송 편백 등 세 가지 뜻으로 사용되고 있다. 하지만 이러한 해석은 어떤 기준을 통한 것인지 알 수가 없다. 특히 고전 번역에서 '회'는 번역자의 임의로 풀이하고 있어 이 자료를 그대로 인용할 경우 또다시 오류를 낳게 한다. 따라서 고전식물명이 나오는 항목은 다시 검토해야 하는 상황이다. 식물명으로서 '회'가 어떤 이유에서 다양하게 해석되며, 어떤 기준으로 해석해야 올바른가. 이러한 의문을 가지고 본 연구를 진행하게 되었다. 그리고 '회'의 해석에 대한 가이드라인을 설정함으로써 고전식물명의 바른 해석과 이를 통한 식물에 대한 정보를 정확하게 확보하고자 하는 것에 본 연구의 의의를 둔다.

철도사고의 인적오류 분석을 위한 수행도 영향인자 분류 (Taxonomy of Performance Shaping Factors for Human Error Analysis of Railway Accidents)

  • Enhanced machine reliability has dramatically reduced the rate and number of railway accidents but for further reduction human error should be considered together that accounts for about 20% of the accidents. Therefore, the objective of this study was to suggest a new taxonomy of performance shaping factors (PSFs) that could be utilized to identify the causes of a human error associated with railway accidents. Four categories of human factor, task factor, environment factor, and organization factor and 14 sub-categories of physical state, psychological state, knowledge/experience/ability, information/communication, regulation/procedure, specific character of task, infrastructure, device/MMI, working environment, external environment, education, direction/management, system/atmosphere, and welfare/opportunity along with 131 specific factors was suggested by carefully reviewing 8 representative published taxonomy of Casualty Analysis Methodology for Maritime Operations (CASMET), Cognitive Reliability and Error Analysis Method (CREAM), Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS), Integrated Safety Investigation Methodology (ISIM), Korea-Human Performance Enhancement System (K-HPES), Rail safety and Standards Board (RSSB), $TapRoot^{(R)}$, and Technique for Retrospective and Predictive Analysis of Cognitive Errors (TRACEr). Then these were applied to the case of the railway accident occurred between Komo and Kyungsan stations in 2003 for verification. Both cause decision chart and why-because tree were developed and modified to aid the analyst to find causal factors from the suggested taxonomy. The taxonomy was well suited so that eight causes were found to explain the driver's error in the accident. The taxonomy of PSFs suggested in this study could cover from latent factors to direct causes of human errors related with railway accidents with systematic categorization.

The Mycobiota of Air Inside and Outside the Meju Fermentation Room and the Origin of Meju Fungi

  • The fungi on Meju are known to play an important role as degrader of macromolecule of soybeans. In order to elucidate the origin of fungi on traditional Meju, mycobiota of the air both inside and outside traditional Meju fermentation rooms was examined. From 11 samples of air collected from inside and outside of 7 Meju fermentation rooms, 37 genera and 90 species of fungi were identified. In outside air of the fermentation room, Cladosporium sp. and Cladosporium cladosporioides were the dominant species, followed by Cladosporium tenuissimum, Eurotium sp., Phoma sp., Sistotrema brinkmannii, Alternaria sp., Aspergillus fumigatus, Schizophyllum commune, and Penicillium glabrum. In inside air of the fermentation room, Cladosporium sp., Aspergillus oryzae, Penicillium chrysogenum, Asp. nidulans, Aspergillus sp., Cla. cladosporioides, Eurotium sp., Penicillium sp., Cla. tenuissimum, Asp. niger, Eur. herbariorum, Asp. sydowii, and Eur. repens were collected with high frequency. The concentrations of the genera Aspergillus, Eurotium, and Penicillium were significantly higher in inside air than outside air. From this result and those of previous reports, the origin of fungi present on Meju was inferred. Of the dominant fungal species present on Meju, Lichtheimia ramosa, Mucor circinelloides, Mucor racemosus, and Scopulariopsis brevicaulis are thought to be originated from outside air, because these species are not or are rarely isolated from rice straw and soybean; however, they were detected outside air of fermentation room and are species commonly found in indoor environments. However, Asp. oryzae, Pen. polonicum, Eur. repens, Pen. solitum, and Eur. chevalieri, which are frequently found on Meju, are common in rice straw and could be transferred from rice straw to Meju. The fungi grow and produce abundant spores during Meju fermentation, and after the spores accumulate in the air of fermentation room, they could influence mycobiota of Meju fermentation in the following year. This could explain why concentrations of the genera Aspergillus, Eurotium, and Penicillium are much higher inside than outside of the fermentation rooms.
