단기간 현미채식과 옥외걷기운동이 대학생의 신체조성 및 혈중지질수준에 미치는 영향 (Effects of a Brown Rice Vegetarian Diet and Outdoor Walking Exercise on Body Composition and Blood Lipid Parameters in Collegians)

  • This study examined the effects of a brown rice vegetarian diet and outdoor walking exercise program on body composition and blood lipid parameters in collegians. The mean age of respondents was 21.8 yrs (males) and 21.7 yrs (females). During the ten-day program, the respondents lived in a dormitory and had three meals. The respondents exercised one hour in the morning (6:20~7:20 am) and attended one and a half hour evening lecture (7:00~8:30 pm) everyday. The brown rice vegetarian diet consisted of brown rice, whole grain bread, beans, fresh vegetables, and fresh fruits contained $2043.2{\pm}112.7$ kcal (97.3% of RNI), 66.7 g protein (133.3% of RNI), 33.6 g dietary fiber (168.2% of RNI), vitamin A (194.2% of RNI), vitamin $B_1$(245.5% of RNI), vitamin $B_2$(225.1% of RNI), niacin (233.7% of RNI), vitamin $B_6$(277.1% of RNI), folic acid (128.4% of RNI), vitamin C (334.6% of RNI), iron (131.9% of RNI), zinc (112.4% of RNI) and calcium (60.3% of RNI). The results showed that there were significant increases in body weight (P<0.05) and BMI (P<0.05) in males and body weight (P<0.05) and lean body mass (P<0.01) in females. In addition, there were significant decreases in total cholesterol (P<0.001), LDL cholesterol (P<0.001), TG (P<0.05), and HDL-cholesterol (P<0.001) in males and total cholesterol (P<0.01) and LDL-cholesterol (P<0.01) in female. The ten day brown rice vegetarian diet rich in fiber and outdoor walking exercise program significantly increased body weight and decreased total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol in collegians.

사육수조 내 사육기질이 어린 해삼의 성장 및 체조성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Different Substrates in the Rearing Tank on Growth and Body Composition of Juvenile Sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus)

  • 본 연구는 사육수조 내 shelter와 sand가 어린 해삼의 성장 및 체조성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 수행되었다. 사육수조에 shelter와 모래를 넣지 않거나(Con), shelter (Shelter)와 모래(Sand)를 각각 넣어 사육 조건을 달리하여 평균체중 3.6 g의 어린 해삼을 3반복으로 수용하여 수입 분말사료(조단백질 16.8%, 조지방 0.3%)를 8주간 공급하였다. 생존율은 80% 이상으로 모든 실험구간에 유의한 차이가 없었다(P>0.05). 증중율과 일간 성장율은 Sand 실험 구에서 가장 높았고, Con 실험 구에서 가장 낮은 값을 보였다(P<0.05). 해삼의 단백질과 지질 함량은 Con 실험구에서 가장 높게 나타났으며, 회분 함량은 Sand 실험구에서 가장 높은 값을 보였다(P<0.05). 이상의 결과로 보아, 사육수조 내 shelter와 모래는 어린 해삼의 성장과 체조성에 영향을 미치며, 모래는 어린 해삼의 적정 성장을 위한 사육수조의 기질로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Comparison of Free and Dipeptide Lysine Utilization in Diets for Juvenile Olive Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus

  • We compared the utilization efficiency of free lysine (FL) and dipeptide lysine-glycine (LG) in terms of growth performance and whole-body amino acid composition in olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. A basal experimental diet was formulated to contain 0.5% (basal) lysine from fish meal, and four other diets were prepared by supplementing 0.5% or 1.0% of either FL or LG. The experiment was performed in triplicate, and 20 randomly selected fish averaging $5.41{\pm}0.16g$ were fed one of the test diets at the rate of 3% BW/day twice daily for 6 weeks. At the end of the feeding trial, fish fed the basal diet showed significantly less weight gain than did the other groups. The results of a two-way ANOVA showed that both lysine level (P = 0.001) and type (P = 0.034) influenced growth rate; however, we found no significant interaction between lysine level and form (P > 0.05). Our results revealed a significant improvement in protein efficiency ratio (PER) with each increment of dietary lysine, and the groups fed LG-supplemented diets showed higher PER than did those offered FL. Hepatosomatic and viscerosomatic indices were significantly influenced by lysine level and form, and higher values were recorded in fish fed diets containing LG. Significantly higher whole-body arginine levels were found in LG-fed groups, and a significant interaction was observed between lysine level and form (P = 0.009). Whole-body valine and aspartic acid contents were affected by lysine level, and alanine concentration was influenced by both lysine level and form. Our findings indicate that juvenile olive flounder can utilize LG more efficiently than FL for protein synthesis.

Feeding of Sugar Cane Silage to Dairy Cattle during the Dry Season

  • A study was conducted to determine the effect of feeding sugar cane silage compared to chopped whole sugar cane or grass silage on performances of lactating dairy cows during the dry season. Twenty four Holstein Friesian crossbred (>87.5% Holstein Friesian) lactating dairy cows in mid lactation; averaging 15.4${\pm}$3.2 kg of milk, 120${\pm}$23 days in milk, 50.5${\pm}$6.5 months old and 432${\pm}$39 kg live weight, were stratified for milk yield, days in milk, age, stage of lactation and body weight, and then randomly allocated to three treatment groups (8 cows in each group). All cows were fed 7.5 kg/d commercial concentrate plus ad libitum roughage according to treatment groups, which were grass silage, sugar cane silage or chopped whole sugar cane respectively. All cows consumed similar DM and produced similar milk and milk composition yields. However, cows on grass silage lost more weight than the other cows. The present study indicated that, during the dry season, sugar cane silage can be fed to lactating dairy cows, while giving similar milk yield to grass silage or chopped whole sugar cane.

  • Objective : To study of Literature on the Ying Qi and Wei Qi One of thing that is among basis theory of Oriental medicine is Vital Essence, Vitality, Qi and Blood(精神氣血) justly. Results : Physiological special quality of Ying Qi(營氣) first, flows within Blood Circulation and the temper is mild and second, transform blood and grow up whole body, and follow through Pectoral Qi(宗氣). Wei Qi(衛氣) means running regeneration of material that do guard action of human body as refined nutritious substances transformed in food. Physiological special quality of Wei Qi(衛氣) first, nature is fast, smooth, and sharp. And it flows outside Blood Circulation. Second, go on muscslar gap without following through Pectoral Qi(宗氣). Ying blood(營血) flows within Blood Circulation means living body ingredient which thing reveals by circulation of the blood change phenomenon. Ying Qi(營氣) is Ying(營) in meaning which go on meridians, therefore meridians as wandering living body reaction route mean. This Ying Qi(營氣)'s physiology transform blood and grows up whole body and flows within Blood Circulation. It becomes most important ingredient of composition of blood, Wei Qi(衛氣) transforms and becomes nutrition constantly by running regeneration of material which transform in Jungcho(中焦) and spread by spreading action of upper chest exhaust in lower belly above the blader of apriority, Kidney-yang.

배합사료내 사료첨가제가 조피볼락(Sebastes schlegeli) 치어의 성장, 사료 이용성 및 체조성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Dietary Additives on Growth, Feed Utilization, and Body Composition of Juvenile Rockfish Sebastes schlegeli)

  • The effects of dietary supplementing natural additives [yacon (YC), ginger (GG), and blueberry (BB)] on growth, feed utilization, and body composition of juvenile rockfish were compared to those of ethoxyquin (EQ), which is commonly used to prevent rancidity of fish feed. A total of 480 fish were distributed randomly into 12 50-L flow-through tanks (40 fish/tank). Four experimental diets were prepared: the control diet (Con) with 0.01% EQ, and the YC, GG and BB diets containing 1% YC, GG, and BB instead of wheat flour. Each diet was assigned randomly to triplicate tanks of fish, which were hand fed to satiation twice daily for 8 weeks. Weight gain of fish fed the YC diet was higher than that of fish fed all other diets. Feed efficiency (FE), protein efficiency ratio (PER), and protein retention (PR) in fish fed the YC diet were higher than those in fish fed the other diets. Whole-body chemical composition of the fish was affected by the additive sources. In conclusion, dietary supplementation with GG effectively improved weight gain and feed utilization (FE, PER, and PR) of juvenile rockfish.

사육 밀도가 무지개송어(Oncorhynchus mykiss) 치어의 성장, 체조성, 스트레스, 항산화 및 면역반응에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Stocking Density on the Growth, Body Composition, Stress, Antioxidant Status and Immune Responses of Juvenile Rainbow Trout Oncorhynchus mykiss)

  • A 12-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of different stocking densities on the growth, body composition, stress, antioxidant status, and immune responses of juvenile rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss. Juvenile rainbow trout (32.2±0.5 g) were randomly placed in eight experimental tanks, each containing 2,000 L of water, at stocking densities of 150, 300, 600, and 1,200 individual/m3. The trout were assigned to four treatments (2.4, 4.8, 9.7, and 19.4 kg/m3) in duplicates. Following after the feeding trial, the fish cultured in the less dense group showed significantly higher growth and survival (P<0.05). In terms of proximate composition, the whole body crude protein and lipid contents were lower in the denser group (19.4 kg/m3). Regarding the antioxidant and immune responses, the fish reared in the relatively denser group exhibited lower lysozyme, immunoglobulin M, and superoxide dismutase levels. The stress indicators, glucose and cortisol, were significantly lower in the less dense group (2.4 kg/m3), while the denser group (19.4 km/m3) exhibited higher AST and ALP levels(P<0.05). The results showed that denser stocking has a crowding stress effect and negatively impacts growth and immune responses.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of various dietary lipid sources on the growth performance, body composition, and fatty acid profiles of juvenile fancy carp (Cyprinus carpio var. koi). Three replicate groups of fish (initial mean body weight, 15.1±0.18 g) were fed one of five experimental diets containing fish oil (SLO), soybean oil (SO), linseed oil (LO), lard (LA), or a mixture of SLO, SO, and LO (Mix) for 8 weeks. Fish fed the LA diet gained less weight than did fish fed the LO diet. The feed efficiency and protein efficiency ratio of fish fed the LA and Mix diets were lower than those of fish fed the SO and LO diets. The body lipid content of fish fed the SO diet was lower than those of the other groups. Whole-body fatty acid compositions reflected the fatty acid compositions of dietary lipid sources. Fish fed the SO diet had high concentrations of linoleic acid and arachidonic acid, whereas fish fed the LO diet were rich in linolenic acid. Fish fed the SLO diet had significantly higher levels of eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid compared with fish fed the SO, LO, and LA diets. The results of this study suggest that SO or LO could be used as a replacement for SLO in the diets of juvenile fancy carp without any negative effects on growth and feed utilization when the dietary essential fatty acid requirements are satisfied for juvenile fancy carp.

Effect of Fermented Food Garbage in Diet on Growth and Body Composition of Juvenile Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)

  • Food garbage fermented with microbial starter was formulated to diet for the growth of juvenile flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus). Two replicate groups of fish, an average weight of 4.0g, were fed the four isocaloric (19.5 MJ/kg diet) diets with different fermented food garbage levels $(0,\;5,\;10\;and\;15\%)$ for 45 days. Survival, feed efficiency, hepatosomatic index and protein efficiency ratio of fish were not affected by dietary fermented food garbage level (P>0.05). Weight gain of fish fed the diets with 5, 10 and $15\%$ fermented food garbage was significantly higher than that of fish fed the control diet (P<0.05). Condition factor of fish fed the diet with $10\%$ fermented food garbage was significantly higher than that of fish fed the control diet (P<0.05). Daily feed intake of fish fed the diets with 5 and $15\%$ fermented food garbage was significantly higher than the control diet (P<0.05). Proximate composition of whole body and plasma glucose concentration were not affected by dietary fermented food garbage level (P>0.05). These findings indicate that fermented food garbage could be utilized as a feed ingredient for juvenile flounder.

전복 안전성 향상을 위한 고속 버스 차체 개발 프로세스에 관한 연구 (A Study for Developing Process of a Bus Body Structure for the Rollover Safety)

  • Bus manufacturers have tested and studied the dynamic collapse behavior of a bus body structure in rollover since UN ECE established ECE Regulation 66 to provide the requirement for the strength of bus structure. In spite of the costly cycles of practical tests, however, it is still a hard task to meet the rollover regulation by means of local reinforcements in the bus structure. Therefore it is necessary to develop a well designed strategy for the rollover strength implemented in the early stage of vehicle development. In this study, the suitable development method for each design stage from a component to complete body structure was considered to make a well-established development process of a bus body structure for rollover safety. For the efficient approach of the concept design stage, a numerical model based on the plastic hinge theory was used instead of detailed shell models. After setting up the concept design for the component size and geometry, the shell model was used to confirm and optimize the whole structure composition. The process developed in this study was practically used as an effective method to predict the rollover behavior of a new bus body structure.
