  • We sampled 167 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade students to assess who, why, and in what situations they asked for help when they had problems in math class. Results indicated that students generally perferred(??) classmates to the teacher as helpers but they saw the teacher as more likely to facilitate learning. Second graders perceived a closer personal relationship with their teacher than sixth graders. At the upper grades, student were more likely to report asking for assistance if they thought that other students also needed assistance.

  • The smoothing parameter or bandwidth is crucial to performance of the kernel based regression estimator. So the choice of a "optimal" smoothing parameter produce a single curve estimate. If a single estimate is replaced by a family of estimates, it become easy that we understand what varies with choice of the smoothing parameter. This paper suggests the threshold of the maximum bandwidth and the number of the family members in the regression context.n context.

  • Which way should Sejong city focus, the original plan, "The Multipurpose Central City for Administration", or the modified one, "The Central City for Education and Science"? Which way will satisfy both the country and Choongchung region in the future of Sejong city? Let's discuss if the modified plan can be the solution for the inefficiencies and lack of self-sufficiency of the original plan.

  • Case-Based Reasoning(CBR) offers a new approach for developing knowledge based systems. In case-based approach the problem solving experience of the domain expert is encoded in the form of cases. CBR has successfully been applied to many kinds of problems such as design, planning, diagnosis and forecasting. In this paper, CBR was applied for forecasting default risk. The applied result was successful in spite of the small casebase. Generally, CBR requires large casebase. So, if the number of data was large, the result was better. But in this paper, what financial variable was more forecastable was not tested. Next, this should be tested.

  • Even if auto-stereoscopic and polarization based 3D displays are not working with the same principles, their common aim is to provide two different images in the eyes of the observer. In this paper we show that Fourier optics instrument for viewing angle measurements can be applied to both types of displays. Luminance measurements are made at different locations and what will be seen by an observer in front of the display is predicted. Precise 3D characteristics can be derived and direct comparison becomes possible.

  • Parameterizing a model is one of the most efficient ways of conducting "virtual prototying" i.e. exploring the "What if?" scenario. But it is very difficult to construct parameterized models in commercial based FEM programs, because they usually adopt the mouse inputs in their GUI, which cannot be parameterized. We consolidated a parametric modelling technique in OPERA-3d preprocessor, which is one of world leading electromagnetic analysis programs, by combining the mouse inputs in GUI with it's FORTRAN-based self script command language.

  • Economic development is the common problem for Northeast Asian Countries, even if their political regimes are defferent. What we based on the economic development are infrastructure and regional development. As a matter of course, they have to be accompanied with science and technology. In the Japan Sea(the Eastern Sea) Rim, it is expected that a regional development zone based on the idea of a “borderless world” will be established. Moreover science and technology as well as capital are also expected to be invested in that 3one. That is to say, the regional development Bone needs Japanese and Korea capital, science and technology.

  • The proposed RPSS(Reference Picture Segment Selection) mode is the RPS mode in picture segment of the ISD mode. The RPS mode has the weakness that it has to change the whole reference picture even if transmission error occurs only in the small part of picture. If the RPS mode is applied only to an error-occurred part and a conventional coding scheme is applied to an error-free part, the higher coding efficiency can be obtained. Simulation results show that there is the optimal number of segment which provides that best performance with given environment such as the BER(Bit Error Rate) of wireless channels, the characteristics of imput sequence, what kind of RPSS mode is used, etc. To apply the channel-adoptive RPSS mode later, the scheme which can change the number of segment without INTRA refresh and spatial error propagation is proposed in this paper.

  • The aim of this article is to provide major announcements within the last decade or so about possible medical emergencies in dentistry. This would be helpful to improve the knowledge on first aid suitable for dental environment. Syncope was the most common medical emergencies in dentistry. Medical emergency situations can be divided into urgency and true emergency. Urgency situations can be solved well if proper treatment is taken. However, even in an urgency, if the correct treatment is not performed, it may soon turn into an emergency. With the joint efforts of the Korean Dental Anesthesiology Society and the Korean Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Association, dental advanced life support (DALS) has been prepared since 2015. Through 17 training experiences until January 2020, scenarios and textbooks were developed. Dentists and dental care teams need to be prepared to strengthen their competence as professionals and to increase their team-level response capabilities..
