Sn-Xwt%Cu계 솔더의 젖음성에 관한 연구 (Study on Wettability of Sn-Xwt%Cu Solder)

  • The wettability of Sn-Xwt%Cu(X=$0{\sim}3wt%$) solder was evaluated with wetting balance tester. And, the intermetallic compounds(IMCs) which were formed at the interface between solders and pads were investigated by using scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS). The wetting force of Sn-0.7wt%Cu solder was higher than that of 100wt%Sn and Sn-3.0wt%Cu solder. The value of $\gamma_{fl}$ and ($\gamma_{fs}-\gamma_{ls}$) had a tendency to increase with increasing the wetting temperature. The activation energy with bare Cu pad and flux with 15% solid content was increased in the following order: Sn-0.7Cu (68.42 kJ/mol) ; Sn-3.0Cu(72.66 kJ/mol) ; Sn solder(94.53 kJ/mol). It was identified that the Cu6Sn5 phase was formed at the interface between Sn-Xwt%Cu solder and Cu pad.

Fabrication of Ultra-smooth 10 nm Silver Films without Wetting Layer

  • Using conventional deposition techniques, we demonstrate a method to fabricate ultra-smooth 10 nm silver films without using a wetting layer or co-depositing another material. The argon working pressure plays a crucial role in achieving an excellent surface flatness for silver films deposited by DC magnetron sputtering on an InP substrate. The formation of ultra-smooth silver thin films is very sensitive to the argon pressure. At the optimum deposition condition, a uniform silver film with an rms surface roughness of 0.81 nm has been achieved.

Sn-1.7Bi-0.7Cu-0.6In 솔더의 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Sn-1.7Bi-0.7Cu-0.6In Lead-free Solder)

  • Characteristics of Sn-1.7%Bi-0.7%Cu-0.6%In (hereafter, SBIC) lead-free solder was investigated in this study. The results from SBIC were compared to other lead-free solders such as Sn-3.5%Ag-0.7%Cu (hereafter, SAC), Sn-0.7%Cu (hereafter, SC), and lead-bearing Sn-37%Pb (hereafter, SP) alloy. Tensile properties of bulk solder, wettability, spreading index, bridge and dross were evaluated. As experimental results, tensile strength and elongation of SBIC was 62.5MPa and 21.5%, respectively. The tensile strength was comparable to that of SP solder. The wetting time of SBIC was 1.2 sec at $250^{\circ}C$, and its wetting properties including wetting force were as good as the SAC alloy. However, wettability of the SC was not so good as the SBIC and SAC. The spreading index of SBIC at $250^{\circ}C$ was 71 %, and it was similar level to those of SAC and SC solders. Bridging was not found for all solders of SBIC, SAC and SC in the range from 240 to $260^{\circ}C$. In dross test at $250^{\circ}C$ for an hour, the amount of dross produced from SBIC was about 57% compared to that from SAC.

불화규소 아크릴레이트 RGP 콘택트렌즈의 플라즈마 표면처리 효과 (The Effects of Plasma Surface Treatment on Fluorosilicone Acrylate RGP Contact Lenses)

  • 목적: 불화규소 아크릴레이트 RGP 콘택트렌즈(Boston EO, Boston XO)를 공기 중에서 플라즈마로 처리하여 표면의 성분, 형상, 습윤성의 변화를 연구하였다. 방법: 성분과 결합구조는 X-선광전자분광분석기(XPS), 형상과 거칠기는 원자현미경(AFM)으로 관찰하였으며, 습윤성의 변화는 접촉각을 측정하여 평가하였다. 결과: 플라즈마 처리에 의해 표면에서 불소는 크게 감소하고, 산소와 실리콘은 증가하였다. 산소를 포함하는 친수성기(C-O, Si-O)가 증가하고, 소수성인 표면이 감소하였으며, 접촉각이 증가하였다. 그러나 불소의 치환으로 생성된 C-O는 습윤성을 증진하지 않았다. 결과: 플라즈마 처리한 다음 6개월이 지나면 표면조성에는 큰 변화가 없으나, 접촉각이 다시 증가하였다. 결론: 불소의 함량이 높은 RGP 콘택트렌즈의 플라즈마 처리에 의한 습윤성 증가는 활성화된 표면과 Si-O의 증가, 소수성 표면의 감소에 의한 것으로 판단된다.

억지말뚝으로 보강된 절개사면의 강우시 거동 (The behavior of a Cut Slope Stabilized by Use of Piles during Heavy Rain)

  • 강우시의 사면지반과 억지말뚝의 거동을 관찰하기 위하여 각종 계측기에 의한 현장계측이 실시되었다. 즉, 억지말뚝으로 보강된 아파트 배면절개사면에 경사계, 지하수위계 및 스트레인게이지가 설치되었다. 억지말뚝에 발생된 수평변위와 휨응력은 억지말뚝속에 설치된 경사계와 스트레인게이지로 측정하였으며, 사면지반의 수평변형은 말뚝사이지반에 설치된 경사계로 측정하였다. 지하수위 계측결과 강우시 지하수위는 집중호우에 그다지 민감하지 못하였다. 강우시 지표면으로부터 습윤대가 형성되고 이 습윤대의 강하는 말뚝과 지반의 거동에 많은 영향을 미치고 있었다. 왜냐하면 습윤대의 강하로 인하여 이 습윤대 상부지반의 단위체적중량이 증가하게 되고 또한 사면의 활동력이 증가하게 되기 때문이다. 이러한 집중호우시의 억지말뚝과 사면의 거동은 탄성적이었다.

혼합 Self-assembled monolayer의 마이크로/나노 응착 및 마찰 특성 (Micro/nano adhesion and friction properties of mixed self-assembled monolayer)

  • Micro/nano adhesion and friction properties of mixed self-assembled monolayer (SAM) with different chain length for MEMS application were experimentally studied. Many kinds of SAM having different spacer chains(C6, C10 and C18) and their mixtures (1:1) were deposited onto Si-wafer, where the deposited SAM resulted in the hydrophobic nature. The adhesion and friction properties between tip and SAM surfaces under nano scale applied load were measured using an atomic force microscope (AFM) and micro scale applied load were measured using ball-on-flat type micro-tribotester. Surface roughness and water wetting angles were measured with SPM (scanning probe microscope) and contact anglemeter. Results showed that wetting angles of mixed SAMs showed the similar value of pure SAMs. The coating surface morphology was increased as mixing of SAM. Nano adhesion and nano friction decreased as increasing of the spacer chain length and mixing of SAM. Micro friction was decreased as increasing of the spacer chain, but micro friction of mixed SAM showed the value between pure SAMs. Nano adhesion and friction mechanism of mixed SAM was proposed in a view of stiffness of spacer chain modified chemically and topographically.

  • Nanotribological characteristics of hydrophobic surfaces were studied experimentally using an atomic force microscope (AFM). Two kinds of thiolic self-assembled monolayers (SAM) having different spacer chains and their mixture were deposited onto gold-coated mica, where the deposited SAM resulted in the hydrophobic nature. Results showed that the mixed thiolic SAMs resulted in low adhesion and friction in nano-scale contact. It was argued that the water wetting characteristics played a central role on nano-scale adhesion and friction. Also the effect of mixing the thiolic SAMs were discussed on the basis of real area on contact and the stiffness of the SAM layers.

$DDPO_4$$ODPO_4$SAM 코팅의 나노 응착 및 마찰 특성 연구 (Nano Adhesion and Friction of $DDPO_4$ and $ODPO_4$ SAM Coatings)

  • Nano adhesion between SPM(scanning probe microscope) tips and DDPO$_4$(octadecylphosphoric acid ester.) and ODPO$_4$(octadecylphosphoric acid ester) SAM(self-assembled monolayer.) was experimentally studied. Tests were performed to measure the nano adhesion and friction in both AFM(atomic force microscope) and LFM(lateral force microscope) modes with the applied normal load. DDPO$_4$ and ODPO$_4$ SAM were formed on Ti and TiOx surfaces. Ti and TiOx were coated on the Si wafer by ion sputtering. Adhesion and friction of DDPO$_4$ and ODPO$_4$ SAM surfaces were compared with those of OTS(octadecyltrichlorosilane) SAM and DLC surfaces. DDPO$_4$ and ODPO$_4$ SAM converted the Ti and TiOx surfaces to be hydrophobic. When the surface was hydrophobic, the adhesion and friction forces were found lower than those of bare surfaces. Work of adhesion was also discussed to explain how the surface was converted into hydrophobic Results also showed that tribological characteristics of DDPO$_4$ and ODPO$_4$ SAM had good properties in the adhesion, friction, wetting angle and work of adhesion. DDPO$_4$ and ODPO$_4$ SAM could be one of the candidates for the bio-MEMS elements.

알루미늄의 브레이징과 원리 (Aluminum Brazing and Its Principle)

  • Aluminum alloys have been widely used in many fields such as electronic, structure, aero-space and vehicle industries due to their outstanding thermal and electrical conductivity as well as low cost. However, they have some difficulties for using in brazing process because of the strong oxide layer of $Al_2O_3$ on the surface of Al alloy. In addition, their melting point is similar to that of brazing filler metal resulting in thermal damage of Al alloys. Therefore, it is very important to understand the brazing principles, filler metal and its properties such as wetting, capillary flow and dissolution of base metal in the Al brazing process. This paper reviews the brazing principles, aluminum alloys, and brazing fillers. In the case of brazing principle, some formula was used for calculation of capillary force and the dissolution to obtain the best condition of Al brazing. In addition, the advanced research trends in Al brazing were introduced including thermal treatment, additive for improving property and decreasing melting point in Al brazing process.

웨트클리닝이 양모, 레이온 직물의 치수 안정성과 세탁성능에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Wet Cleaning on Shrinkage and Detergency of Wool and Rayon Fabrics)

  • This study focuses on the optimal washing conditions for dry cleaning recommended fabrics to minimize dimensional changes using wet cleaning. We suggest water-based alternatives to a perchloroethylene based cleaning process. Wool and rayon fabrics were laundered under various washing conditions and then air-dried for 24hrs. All specimens were extended after spinning and shrunk after drying. This is probably because the fibers were swollen and extended by wetting. The wool fabrics were shown to be acutely influenced by washing temperature and mechanical force. The optimal washing conditions for wool fabric to minimize the dimensional change implied a normal washing temperature and minimized mechanical force. For rayon specimens, dimensional change by a hand wash showed a remarkable decrease compared with a machine wash. Rayon fabric seemed to be influenced by the quantity of water contained in the fabric after spinning and washing time. Therefore, the desirable washing conditions for rayon fabric are to reduce the time required for washing and to increase the spin speed.
