  • We need to have an adaptive TCP protocol that can be tolerable on wireless network environement. TCP Westwood for use in the environe-ment that have a very high loss rate like a sattelite was proposed by modifying the existing bulk retransmission protocol. Bulk retransmission mechanism shows a highly enhanced performance on networks that have a very high loss rate but are prone to bursty loss networks. Also, it can exprience less performance on low late transmission environement. This paper proposes Adaptive Bulk Retransmission Mechanism that adjusts the number of bulk retransmitted packets based on the network conditions. The proposed mechanism was evaluated by using NS-2.

  • “The ultimate aim of the anthropology of art [fashion] must be the dissolution of art [fashion].” Alfred Gell, Art and Agency (1998) This study aims to rethink fashion by examining issues that have emerged out of recent writings in the anthropology of art. Since their inaugural coinciding, sound discussions have emerged between the anthropology of art and the art world, addressing such subjects as: ‘artworks and artefacts’, ‘Western and non- Western discourse’, and ‘art and agency’ (Gell 1992; 1993; 1996; 1998). This study is comprised of a series of discussions, the subjects of which follow: the relationship between fashion and art; art and the anthropology of art; and in parallel with this, examining the possibility for an anthropology of fashion. This study employs a qualitative approach based on the discussion of relevant literatures dealing with fashion, art and art theory for its methodology, followed by a brief examination of a case of the Vivienne Westwood exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in terms of an empirical account.

  • Present author observed the variation in color and pattern and also those of geographical distribution of Graphosoma rubrolineatum WESTWOOD.And the variations were also studied in relation to the temperature and the humidity . The results are as follows . 1. The variations in color and pattern of G.rubrolineatum were gradually changed into black ones, and so they showed polymorphic. 2. Their colors and patterns were not variated in inland at all, while those variations in island increased according to the distance from the inland. 3. The red color of the patterns appeared the yellowish-red in inland, the blackish -red in island. 4. The variation in color and pattern of G.rubrolineatum occure in the region of the temperature below 22.8$^{\circ}C$ (mean temperaturrre of June, July and August)and the humidity above 72%(yearly average).

  • Oligotoma saundersii(Westwood, 1837) was recognized on the bark of Pachira aquatica Aubl.(Bombacaeae), an ornamental tree growing in greenhouse, Seoul, Korea. The morphological characteristics and biology of O. saundersii are presented. This is the first record of the order Embiidina in Korea.

  • Due to internal feeding behavior, the oriental tobacco budworm, Helicoverpa assulta ($Guen\acute{e}e$), infesting hot pepper has been regarded to be effectively controlled by targeting egg and neonate larval stages just before entering the fruits. This study aimed to develop an efficient biological control method focusing on these susceptible stages of H. assulta. An egg parasitoid wasp, Trichogramma evanescens Westwood, was confirmed to parasitize the eggs of H. assulta. A mixture of Gram-positive soil bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki, and Gram-negative entomopathogenic bacterium, Xenorhabdus nematophila ANU101, could effectively kill neonate larvae of H. assulta. A sex pheromone trap monitored the occurrence of field H. assulta adults. The microbial insecticide mixture was proved to give no detrimental effects on immature development and adult survival of the wasp by both feeding and contact toxicity tests. A combined treatment of egg parasitoid and microbial pesticide was applied to hot pepper fields infested by H. assulta. The mixture treatment of both biological control agents significantly decreased the fruit damage, which was comparable to the chemical insecticide treatment, though either single biological control agent did not show any significant control efficacy. This study also provides morphological and genetic characters of T. evanescens.
