  • In order to keep and increase a competitive potential, industrial enterprises have to reduce their costs for product development as well as shorten lead time in product development processes. Moreover they have to respond to market factors and conditions such as increasing demands for functionality and individuality of products, short product life cycles, high pressure on prices and time to market. The improved functional requirement in connection with high time and cost pressure lead to high risk in product development. Technological fine improvements in connection with high time and cost pressure lead to high development risk. To cope with these challenges many enterprises have to collaborate globally. The collaborative engineering in product development is aimed to create distributed collaborative corporations and to facilitate the management of design conflicts. This paper provides a methodology for analyzing collaborative design process as well as the tools and the framework to support collaborative product development. The methodology can identify the interdependences among design tasks and teams. The tools and framework are implemented to facilitate the management of product development process.

  • The current study examined the relations between sixth-grade elementary school children's perceptions of daily hassles, optimistic thinking, and subjective well-being. This study also investigated the moderating effect of optimistic thinking on the relationship between daily hassles and subjective well-being. A total of 474 sixth-grade elementary school children participated in this study. First, children's daily hassles were negatively related to optimistic thinking and subjective well-being. As children perceived higher levels of daily hassles, they showed lower levels of optimistic thinking and subjective well-being. Children's optimistic thinking was positively related to subjective well-being. Second, children's optimistic thinking moderated the relations between daily hassles and subjective well-being. Specifically, for children with higher levels of optimistic thinking, their subjective well-being decreased with increasing levels of daily hassles related to parents and teachers. However, for children with lower levels of optimistic thinking, there was no relation between daily hassles and subjective well-being. These findings suggest that optimistic thinking could be an important means by which we could improve children's subjective well-being, especially when they experience higher levels of daily hassles.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate existing world economic science theories and concepts of sustainable development as well as create original system of criteria and indicators to assess potential and conditions for sustainable development from a regional perspective and based on the above justify proposals for public authorities to improve methods of economic regulation for regional development. To achieve the goal evolution process of existing theories and concepts of sustainable development and "green growth" have been studied in terms of its adaptation to the spatial development of Kazakhstan, comparative dynamics of natural resources consumption in the Asia-Pacific region and Kazakhstan were investigated as well. Methodology. World best theory and practice methods for assessment of the level of sustainable development of the country and some of its territories were also studied. • The main purpose of this study was to examine the mediating roles of mothers' psychological well-being and support/control in the relationship between maternal child-related stress and adolescents' school adjustment. Participants were 389 3rd grade middle school students and their mothers. Mothers completed questionnaires about child-related stress and psychological well-being. Adolescents completed scales of maternal controlling/supportive parenting and school adjustment. Results indicated that a direct effect of mothers' child-related stress on adolescents' school adjustment was not significant. However, mothers' psychological well-being and support/control mediated the relations between child-related stress and adolescents' school adjustment. A higher level of child-related stress in mothers was associated with a lower level of psychological well-being, followed by a lower level of adolescents' school adjustment. Mothers who reported a higher level of child-related stress tended to be less supportive and more controlling, which led to a lower level of school adjustment. These findings suggest the need for considering both maternal characteristics and parenting in explaining adolescents' school adjustment.

  • Korea is becoming a model country for the developing countries' agricultural and rural development. Drawing implications for Vietnam from Korea's experiences can help make development strategies and policies for other developing countries including North Korea as well as for Vietnam itself. Vietnam is facing an inefficiency in agricultural production and the gap between urban and rural growth has been widening. Farm sizes per household are small and farmlands are scattered. Diversification in rural industry is very restricted. To attack these problems, investment is urgently needed for rural infrastructure building as well as agricultural structure adjustment. In the process of rural development, there have been also encountered such problems as financial procurement, community's spontaneous participation, manpower development for adjusting to industrial structural change. Korea's experiences may be helpful for establishing rural development strategies and policies in Vietnam. Benchmark scopes can go beyond Saemaul Undong in 1970s. Korea's pre- and post-Saemaul Undong era as well as the Saemaul Undong era can be referred. In the wake of globalization, Vietnam has not only experienced compressed rapid economic growth but also encountered policy tasks to eradicate poverty, to realize self-reliance and income increase, and to lessen urban-rural development gap, at the same time. Korea's experiences show that priority needs to be put on the establishment of national and rural development strategies based on Vietnam-specific conditions, utilization of village's resources including community tradition and social capital, fund raising for rural development, farmland development and mobilization, production and living infrastructure building, technology transfer for farmers and vocational training for new job seekers.

  • This study investigates the effects of financial development on the foreign direct investment (FDI) flow in host countries. Using bilateral FDI data from 34 OECD source countries to 146 host countries, we performed panel data analysis based on a gravity FDI equation. We hypothesized that the financial development would increase the volume of FDI flows. The results suggest that the well-functioning finance market of source countries as well as a better accessable financial market of host countries contribute to the increase in FDI of OECD in their partner countries. We found also that the financial development effects of source countries are larger than those of host countries. This result shows that the financial development can play a crucial role to impact the FDI inflows as push factor in source country than as a pull factor in host countries.
