  • Generally, the laser vision sensor makes it possible design a highly reliable and precise range sensor at a low cost. When the laser vision sensor is applied to lap joint welding, however, there are many limitations. Therefore, a specially-designed hardware system has to be used. However, if the multi-lines are used instead of a single line, multi-range data can be generated from one image.   • Rail is one of major track components for train service, it should be provided in the condition of flat and smooth driving aspect. Therefore, it is inevitable that there would be the field welding to integrate on CWR(Continuous Welded Rail) removing rail joint in these days. It is high chance to be some rail surface irregularity due to the limitation on the status of work condition If a high speed train runs on the rail surface irregularity in the welding part, big impact load comes to pass on that, so track irregularity cycle is reduced, therefore track maintenance cost can be increased. this paper has analyzed wheel load variation according to removing the rail surface irregularity using portable grinding machine in the high speed line. The result measured before and after in the field is decreased about 9.26% on the wheel load variation.

질소 이면보호가스 적용성에 관한 연구 (Effect of $N_2$ back shielding gas on the property change of GTA weldment)

  • To investigate the suitability of nitrogen gas as an internal purging gas, various properties of GTA welded joints of duplex, 316L stainless steel, Cu-Ni alloy pipe using nitrogen purging gas were evaluated with reference to onew purged with argon gas. Mechanical properties evaluated by the tensile, bending test, and hardness value of welded joints with nitrogen gas purging did not show any difference those with argon gas. General and local corrosion rates of each welded joint prepared by nitrogen gas purging also showed no difference with those prepared by argon gas. Based on the present test results it is confirmed that nitrogen is a suitable purging gas for GTA welding of stainless steels and nonferrous piping systems, which can be used at lower cost instead of argon.

  • In sheet metal forming , forming limit diagram is very important to design and analyze of sheet metal forming process. Recently tailor welded blanks of different thickness and different material and strength combinations are used widely in automobile industry to reduce car manufacturing cost. In order to analyze the forming characteristics of tailored welded blanks, we have investigated the forming limit dia-grams for 3 kinds of different material using mash seam and laser welding experimentally and dis-cussed for the characteristics of forming for tailor welded blanks. It is concluded that forming limit dia-gram for the different material combination TWB locates between FLD of the thinner base material sheet and the thicker ones.

Development of CO Laser-Arc Hybrid Welding Process

  • The principal obstacle to selection of a laser processing method in production is its relatively high equipment cost and the natural unwillingness of production supervision to try something new until it is thoroughly proven. The major objective of this work is focused on the combined features of gas tungsten arc and a low-power cold laser beam. In this work, the laser beam from a 7 watts carbon monoxide laser was combined with electrical discharges from a short-pulsed capacitive discharge GTA welding power supply. When the low power CO laser beam passes through a special composition shielding gas, the CO molecules in the gas absorbs the radiation, and ionizes through a process blown as non-equilibrium, vibration-vibration pumping. The resulting laser-induced plasma(LIP) was positioned between various configurations of electrodes. The high-voltage impulse applied to the electrodes forced rapid electrical breakdown between the electrodes. Electrical discharges between tungsten electrodes and aluminum sheet specimens followed the ionized path provided by LIP. The result was well-focused melted spots.

  • Virtual Manufacturing is a powerful methodology for developing a new product, new equipment and new production system. It enables us to check the errors in design before production. This paper deals with a case study of virtual manufacturing in an excavator factory. Boom and rotating table of upper body are selected for application. 3D models of parts and fixtures are developed with CATIA and 3D simulation models are developed with IGRIP. These models are used for the design of fixture to verify the motion of the equipment. As a result, the manual welding systems are replaced by automatic systems and many design errors are corrected in the design phase, which enables us to reduce the developing cost and time.

수직 용접을 위한 용접 캐리지 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of a Welding Carriage System for Vertical Weld)

  • 초대형 유류 저장탱크의 후판 용접은 작업자가 직접 손용접을 수행하는데 이로 인해 제품의 품질이 저하되고 재용접율 증가로 인하여 품질 불균일이 발생하며 작업 외부환경 등에 따른 용접 제약성도 많이 따른다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 개선하고 용접의 신뢰도를 높이며 공사기간 단축 및 원가절감으로 생산성을 향상시키고자 자동으로 수직 용접이 가능한 용접 캐리지 시스템을 개발하였다. 수직 용접 캐리지 시스템은 용접 플랫폼 시스템, 용접 캐리지 구동장치 및 제어장치 등으로 구성되고 도출된 설계 사양이 만족되도록 개념설계가 이루어졌으며 각각의 서브시스템은 모듈로서 설계되어지고 제작, 조립되었다. 개발된 시스템에 대해 구조적 안정성 평가와 사전 문제점을 파악하고자 구조강도 해석을 수행하여 구조적 안정성을 확인하였고 그 결과를 설계에 반영하고자 하였다. 또한 개발된 시제품의 성능평가를 위해 수직 용접된 후판에 대한 인장시험, 굽힘시험, 충격시험 및 용접시간 등을 요구조건 및 수동용접과 비교 평가를 수행하였고 만족스러운 결과를 획득할 수 있었다. 특히, 수직 용접시간은 수동용접과 비교한 결과 87%이상 향상되었음을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 최근 빅데이터(Big Data)를 이용한 정보 제공 서비스가 확대되고 빅데이터 처리 기술 역시 IT 업체의 중요한 이슈로 학문적인 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 R 프로그래밍을 기반으로 용접의 빅데이터 분석 및 추출을 통하여 용접사의 숙련된 패턴을 분석하고 분석된 결과를 비 숙련공에게 제공함으로써 용접 품질 및 용접 시간 단축 등의 용접 작업에 적용되는 비용을 절감하고자 한다. 용접은 숙련공이 되기 위하여 오랜 시간을 투자해야 하는 문제점이 있다. 이러한 단점을 해결하고자 숙련공들의 용접 패턴 분석을 위하여 다량의 패턴 변수에 R의 연관 규칙 알고리즘과 회귀분석 방식을 적용한다. 상위 N개의 규칙을 분석한 후 분석된 규칙의 변수에 따른 숙련자의 패턴을 분석한다. 본 논문에서는 분석된 용접 패턴 분석을 통해 실험 결과를 분석하여 전력소비량과 와이어 소모 길이에 대한 패턴 구조를 확인하였다.

  • 콘크리트 충전강관에 사용되는 강관의 제작법은 재단된 4장의 플레이트를 모서리에서 용접하는 일반강관 제작법과, ㄷ형으로 절곡성형과정을 거쳐 2-Seam으로 용접하는 제작방법, 그리고 원형강관을 압축하여 4각형태로 만드는 방법등이 일반적으로 사용되며, 강관제작에 사용되는 용접방법과 용접량의 선택은 강관 제작비용에 큰 부분을 차지하고 있다. 새로운 제작형식으로 개발된 각형강관은 4장의 플레이트를 ㄱ형으로 절곡성형한 후 강관 폭의 중앙에서 4-Seam Flare 용접하는 방식이다. 본 연구에서는 새로운 제작형식의 CFT 각형 기둥에 대하여 용접량 평가를 위한 실험방법을 제시하고, 강관 제작법, 강관두께 및 용접량을 변수로 총 6개의 실험체를 제작하여 구조실험 및 해석을 수행하여 강관내부의 수압에 따른 강관의 거동을 평가하였다.

토션 바재의 마찰용접에 관한 연구(I) -마찰용접기술의 최적화에 대하여- (Study on Friction Welding of Torsion Bar Material(1) -Optimization of Friction Welding Technique-)

  • The friction welding has more technical and economic advantages than the other welding processes. As this welding process has the characteristics such as curtailment of production time, materials, cost reduction, etc., it has been widely used in production of various mechanical components which have complex shapes. So, this paper deals with optimizing the friction welding conditions and analyzing various mechanical properties of the friction welded joints of torsion bar material SUP9A bar to bar. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1) The quantitative relation between heating time($t_{1}$, sec) and total upset(U, mm)can be obtained. The empirical formula obtained is ; U = 3.29$t_{1}$ + 1.6 2) The tensile strength($\sigma_{t}$, kgf/$mm^{2}$) of friction welding joints as post weld heat treated(PWHT) depends upon heating time($t_{1}$, sec) quantitatively and the empirical formula obtained is ; $\sigma$= -5.1$t_{1}\;^{2}$+44.90$t_{1}$+45.2 3) It is certain that the optimum condition for friction welded joints of SUP9A steel bars of diameter 14.5mm is, considering on various properties such as tensile strength, torsional strength, impact energy and strain of the joints after PWTH ; n = 2000rpm, $P_{1}$=8kgf/$mm^{2}$, $P_{2}$=20kgf/$mm^{2}$, $t_{1}$=4sec, $t_{2}$=3sec 4) The tensile strength, torsional strength and hardness were increased with the increased with the increasing carbon equivalent, but toughness was decreased.
