Development of Farm Management Diagnostic Checklist Reflecting Crop Characteristics (작물 특성을 반영한 농가경영진단표 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a farm management diagnostic checklist form, which can be applied to any crops. First, upper indexes and subordinate indexes were identified through survey with expert, and weighted values for each subordinate index were calculated through AHP analysis. Second, as a reuslt of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis, marketing management (0.276) was found to be the most important index of all upper indexes. In the case of subordinate indexes, reflecting management evaluation (0.252) of management consciousness, quality enhancement efforts (0.332) of production management, locating new sales outlets (0.323) of marketing management, agriculture accounting (0.300) of finance management, and adjusting shipping dates (0.274) of risk management were found to be the highest. Third, the interval division using weight of farm receiving prices was higher discrimination in comparison to equal interval division of weighted values for each index. The newly developed farm management diagnostic checklist can be applied to any crops, as it utilizes indexes such as management consciousness, production management, marketing management, financial management, risk management, etc. based on professional opinions. In addition, it allows an objective evaluation of farm management situations by utilizing the weighted value of farm receiving prices.

Sensitivity Analysis and Parameter Estimation of Activated Sludge Model Using Weighted Effluent Quality Index (가중유출수질지표를 이용한 활성오니공정모델의 민감도 분석과 매개변수 보정)

  • Many modeling and calibration methods have been developed to analyze and design the biological wastewater treatment process. For the systematic use of activated sludge model (ASM) in a real treatment process, a most important step in this usage is a calibration which can find a key parameter set of ASM, which depends on the microorganism communities and the process conditions of the plants. In this paper, a standardized calibration protocol of the ASM model is developed. First, a weighted effluent quality index(WEQI) is suggested far a calibration protocol. Second, the most sensitive parameter set is determined by a sensitive analysis based on WEQI and then a parameter optimization method are used for a systematic calibration of key parameters. The proposed method is applied to a calibration problems of the single carbon removal process. The results of the sensitivity analysis and parameter estimation based on a WEQI shows a quite reasonable parameter set and precisely estimated parameters, which can improve the quality and the efficiency of the modeling and the prediction of ASM model. Moreover, it can be used for a calibration scheme of other biological processes, such as sequence batch reactor, anaerobic digestion process with a dedicated methodology.

Delamination identification of laminated composite plates using measured mode shapes

  • An accurate non-model-based method for delamination identification of laminated composite plates is proposed in this work. A weighted mode shape damage index is formulated using squared weighted difference between a measured mode shape of a composite plate with delamination and one from a polynomial that fits the measured mode shape of the composite plate with a proper order. Weighted mode shape damage indices associated with at least two measured mode shapes of the same mode are synthesized to formulate a synthetic mode shape damage index to exclude some false positive identification results due to measurement noise and error. An auxiliary mode shape damage index is proposed to further assist delamination identification, by which some false negative identification results can be excluded and edges of a delamination area can be accurately and completely identified. Both numerical and experimental examples are presented to investigate effectiveness of the proposed method, and it is shown that edges of a delamination area in composite plates can be accurately and completely identified when measured mode shapes are contaminated by measurement noise and error. In the experimental example, identification results of a composite plate with delamination from the proposed method are validated by its C-scan image.

A Study on a Measure for Non-Normal Process Capability (비정규 공정능력 측도에 관한 연구)

  • All indices that are now in use assume normally distributed data, and any use of the indices on non-normal data results in inaccurate capability measurements. Therefore, $C_{s}$ is proposed which extends the most useful index to date, the Pearn-Kotz-Johnson $C_{pmk}$, by not only taking into account that the process mean may not lie midway between the specification limits and incorporating a penalty when the mean deviates from its target, but also incorporating a penalty for skewness. Therefore we propose, a new process capability index $C_{psk}$( WV) applying the weighted variance control charting method for non-normally distributed. The main idea of the weighted variance method(WVM) is to divide a skewed or asymmetric distribution into two normal distribution from its mean to create two new distributions which have the same mean but different standard distributions. In this paper we propose an example, a distribution generated from the Johnson family of distributions, to demonstrate how the weighted variance-based process capability indices perform in comparison with another two non-normal methods, namely the Clements and the Wright methods. This example shows that the weighted valiance-based indices are more consistent than the other two methods In terms of sensitivity to departure to the process mean/median from the target value for non-normal process.s.s.s.

Pallidal Signal Intensities on T1-weighted MRI are Highly Observed in Advanced Liver Cirrhosis

  • Background: Manganese (Mn) has been found to increase the signal intensity of the globus pallidus (GP) on T1-weighted magnetic resonance images (MRI). We performed this study in order to determine the features of liver disease that correlate with pallidal signal intensities. Methods: We assessed blood Mn levels and pallidal signals in T1-weighted MRI in 49 patients with liver cirrhosis and 23 healthy controls. Results: Increased signal intensity in the GP was observed in 30 of 49 (61.2%) patients with liver cirrhosis, with the pallidal index (PI) in patients with Child-Pugh classes B and C differing significantly from the PI in controls. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that blood Mn concentrations and Child-Pugh scores in cirrhotics were significantly associated with increased PI after controlling for other confounders (p<0.05 each). Conclusions: Pallidal signals on T1-weighted MRI are mainly observed in advanced liver cirrhosis. The present study suggests that advanced liver cirrhosis may be a human model for manganism.

Development of Weigh Calculation Method for Pavement Roughness Index Considering Vehicle Wandering Distribution (원더링 분포를 고려한 도로포장 평탄성 지수의 가중치 산정기법 개발)

  • PURPOSES: This study aims to develop a rational procedure for estimating the pavement roughness index considering vehicle wandering. METHODS : The location analysis of the passing vehicle in the lane was performed by approximately 1.2 million vehicles for verification of the wandering distribution. According to verification result, the distribution follows the normal distribution pattern. The probability density function was estimated using each lane's wandering distribution model. Then the procedure for applying a weighted value into the lane profile was conducted using this function. RESULTS : The modified index, MRIw, with consideration towards applying the wandering weighted value application was computed then compared with MRI. It was found that the Coefficient of Variation for distribution of lateral roughness index in the lane was high in the case of a large difference between each index (i.e., MRIw and MRI) observed. CONCLUSIONS : This result confirms that the new procedure with consideration of the weight factor can successfully improve the lane representative characteristics of the roughness index.

  • Critical environmental elements for long term preservation of a paper are temperature, humidity, dust, light, contaminants in air, and mold. Especially, temperature and humidity need special care, because they can not only directly degrade paper but also affect the degradation of the other elements. Therefore methods to monitor variation of temperature and relative humidity were studied. One of the methods was to use preservation index for evaluating preservation environment. Since the evaluation for preservation environment of a stack room investigated firstly by D. K. Sebera, PI(preservation index) and TWPI(Time-Weighted Preservation Index) by IPI is made to evaluate relatively preservation environment in a stack room. T. Padfield developed method which could calculate easy PI and TWPI. In this study, the preservation environment of stack rooms for paper storage in NAK(National Archives Korea) was evaluated by PI and TWPI. PI and TWPI of stack rooms for paper storage in NAK maintained good condition but PI depended on season. Then the preservation environment of stack rooms for paper storage in NAK was required to maintain continuously PI and TWPI regardless of season change.

Booming Index Development in a Passenger Car (승용차 부우밍 인덱스 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Booming sound is one of the most important interior sound of a passenger car. The conventional booming noise research was focused on the reduction of the A-weighted sound pressure level. However A-weighted sound pressure level can not give the whole story about the booming sound of a passenger car. In this paper, we employed sound metric which is the subjective parameter used in psycoacoustics. According to recent research results, the relation between sound metrics and subjective evaluation is very complex and has nonlinear characteristics. In order to estimate this nonlinear relationship, artificial neural network theory has been applied to derivation of sound quality index for booming sound of a passenger car.

  • Based on a new concept of connection index of a weighted graph, a new efficient houris tic algorithm of 0(v.e) for network partitioning is presented, where v and e are the number of nodes and edges, respectively. Experimental results show that our algorithm is very efficient and yields an optimal or near optimal solution for a number of partitioning problems tested. Some applications of the proposed algorithm are suggested and its computer implementation is described in detail.
