For the rapidly growing elderly population, the achievement and maintenance of good nutritional status is critical to health, functioning and quality of life. Elderly women living alone have been identified as a group associated with poor nutrition. The purpose of this study was to assess dietary intakes of elderly women living alone as compared to those of elderly women living with family in a rural area and to examine seasonal variation. The subjects are 49 elderly women living alone and 41 elderly women living with family who reside in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk, and their food intakes were assessed once each time in summer 2005, winter 2005-2006, and spring 2006. The average ages were 74.7 years for living alone and 72.8 years for living with family. Education level was not different between the two groups. Height, weight, body mass index, systolic and diastolic blood pressures, and fasting blood glucose were not significantly different between the two groups. Average intakes of major nutrients, nutrient adequacy ratio, mean adequacy ratio and index of nutritional quality were lower in the elderly women living alone compared with the elderly women living with family in summer, but the differences in intakes of most nutrients became insignificant both in winter and in spring. High carbohydrate and low fat diet was prevalent and intakes of carbohydrate and fat in summer deviated from macronutrient acceptable distribution ranges. Percentages of the subjects who consumed energy less than 75% of the estimated energy requirement and nutrients less than the estimated average requirement were higher than those reported by the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. In summer, the percentage of the subjects who consumed energy less than both 75% of the estimated energy requirement and 4 nutrients less than estimated average requirements was 58.5% of the elderly women living alone, which was higher than 26.5% of the elderly women living with family and that of National Nutrition Survey. Therefore, nutrition policies including nutrition education and support are necessary to improve nutritional status of elderly, especially elderly women living alone and should reflect regional and seasonal characteristics.

Phytate is not only an unavailable source of phosphorus (P) for broilers but it also acts as an anti-nutrient, reducing protein and mineral absorption, increasing endogenous losses and reducing broiler performance. The objective of this study was to investigate the anti-nutritional effects of phytate by including high levels of phytase in diets not severely limited in available P. A total of 768 male Arbor Acres broilers were distributed in six treatments of eight replicate pens of 16 birds each consisting of a positive control diet (PC), positive control with 500 FTU/kg phytase, negative control (NC) diet with lower available P and calcium (Ca) levels and the same NC diet with 500, 1,000 or 1,500 FTU/kg phytase. Body weight gain (BWG), feed intake (FI), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and mortality were determined at 21 and 35 d of age while foot ash was determined in four birds per pen at 21 d of age. FI, FCR and foot ash where not affected by the lower mineral diets at 21 d of age nor by the enzyme inclusion but broilers fed lower Ca and available P diets had lower BWG. At 35 d of age no difference was observed between broilers fed the positive or NC diets but broilers fed 500, 1,000 and 1,500 FTU/kg on top of the NC diet had better FCR than broilers fed the positive control diet. When compared to birds fed a diet adequate in P, birds fed the same diet included with 500, 1,000 and 1,500 FTU/kg of phytase in marginally deficient available P and Ca diets had an improvement of performance. These results support the concept that hydrolysing phytate and reducing the anti-nutritional effects of phytate improves bird performance on marginally deficient diets that were not covering the P requirement of birds.
The span-lengthening of PSC I girder has increased the risk of lateral instability of the girder with the increases in the aspect ratio and self-weight of the girder. Recently, collapses of PSC I girder during construction raise the necessity of evaluating the lateral instability of the girder. Thus, the present study evaluated the lateral behavior and instability of PSC I girders under wind load, regarded as one of the main causes of the roll-over collapse during construction. Lateral instability of the girder is mainly dependent on the length of the girder and the stiffness of the support. The analysis results of this study showed the decrease in the critical wind load and the increase in the critical deformation and angle of the girder, leading to the lateral instability of the girder. Finally, this study proposed analytical equations that can predict the critical amount of wind load and lateral deformation of the girder, which would provide quantitative management values to maintain lateral stability of PSC I girder during construction.

For manned planetary exploration, human beings are developing technologies that can permanently reside on the planet, and the basic three elements of residence, such as clothing and shelter, are required to support essential technologies in construction. In order to develop infrastructure construction technology internationally, various materials and methods such as local cementation, sulfur and aluminum have been tried. in this study, a purpose is proposed a polymer concrete construction validation technology that appropriates the conditions required for manmade exploration in order to develop construction infrastructure material technology using polymer. Concrete specimens with a 10% weight ratio polymer prepared by heating on the bottom were stabilized after 2 hours of heating, and the strength was lower than the top heating method, but the solidifying speed was 2 times faster. These results are expected to be applicable not only to construction of lunar facilities for manned exploration but also to improve the construction of infrastructures such as roads and levees to prevent dust.
In this paper, the optimized design of a roof structure f3r a LNG outer tank has been analyzed using the Taguchi design method. This method may efficiently optimize the design parameters of a LNG roof structure in terms of H beam and L beam structures, and a thickness of a concrete structure. The FEM computed results indicate that the thickness of a concrete structure is a dominant factor of a roof structure design. The H and L beam structures do not affect a maximum stress and deformation of a reinfarced roof structure. This means that H and L beam structures only support a dead weight of a concrete roof during a consolidation of a reinforced concrete. Based on the computed results by the Taguchi design method, the number of beams and thickness of a reinforced concrete are given as H=30, L=7, and t=1.2m.
This paper presents the proposed a classifier of liver cirrhotic step using MR(magnetic resonance) imaging and hierarchical neural network. The data sets for classification of each stage, which were normal, 1type, 2type and 3type, were analysis in the number of data was 231. We extracted liver region and nodule region from T1-weight MR liver image. Then objective interpretation classifier of liver cirrhotic steps. Liver cirrhosis classifier implemented using hierarchical neural network which gray-level analysis and texture feature descriptors to distinguish normal liver and 3 types of liver cirrhosis. Then proposed Neural network classifier learned through error back-propagation algorithm. A classifying result shows that recognition rate of normal is $100\%$, 1type is $82.8\%$, 2type is $87.1\%$, 3type is $84.2\%$. The recognition ratio very high, when compared between the result of obtained quantified data to that of doctors decision data and neural network classifier value. If enough data is offered and other parameter is considered this paper according to we expected that neural network as well as human experts and could be useful as clinical decision support tool for liver cirrhosis patients.

Considerable attention has been focused on the applications of flexible liquid crystal (LC)-based displays because of their many potential advantages, such as portability, durability, light weight, thin packaging, flexibility, and low power consumption. To develop flexible LCDs that are capable of delivering high-quality moving images, like conventional glass-substrate LCDs, the LC device structure must have a stable alignment layer of LC molecules, concurrently support uniform cell gaps, and tightly bind two flexible substrates under external tension. However, stable LC molecular alignment has not been achieved because of the layerless LC alignment, and consequently high-quality images cannot be guaranteed. To solve these critical problems, we have proposed a PDMS pixel-wall based bonding method via the IB irradiation was developed for fasten the two substrates together strongly and maintain uniform cell gaps. The effect of the IB irradiation on PDMS with PI surface was also evaluated by side structure configuration and a result of x-ray photoelectron spectroscopic analysis of PDMS interlayer as a function of binder with substrates. large number of PDMS pixel-walls are tightly fastened to the surface of each flexible substrate and could maintain a constant cell gap between the LC molecules without using any other epoxy or polymer. To enhance the electro-optical performance of the LC device, we applied an alignment method that creates pretilt angle on the PI surface via ion beam irradiation. Using this approach, our flexible LCDs have a contrast ratio of 132:1 and a response time of about 15 ms, resulting in highly reliable electro-optical performance in the bent state, comparable to that of glass-substrate LCDs.

Oral exposure of humans by excess amounts of arsenic may cause disturbances of the reproductive system. In the present study, such exposure was modelled in rats, with the support of sperm principal parameters and histopathological observations. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups where the group I was served as a normal control, group II was received sodium meta-arsenite as arsenic (10 mg/kg b.w/day) and a combination of sodium meta-arsenite and sodium selenite (3 mg/kg b.w/day) in group III. After 6 weeks, there was no significant change in testis weight and in total motility of all the three experimental groups, whereas, rapid moving spermatozoa, moderately moving spermatozoa and slow moving spermatozoa were significantly decreased in arsenic treated rats as compared to control rats. The other sperm principal parameters like progressiveness, average path velocity, straightness linear velocity (VSL), curvilinear velocity (VCL), straightness, linearity sperm head elongation ratio, area, linearity amplitude of lateral head department (ALH) and beat cross frequency (BCF) were found to be reduced in arsenic intoxicated rats. These results are not correlated with the histological studies. On oral administration of selenium ameliorated the adverse effects of arsenic as compared to arsenic alone treated rats. Our findings clearly demonstrate that administration of selenium could prevent some of the deleterious effects of arsenic in the testis.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between ground reaction force (GRF) and attack time according to the position of hand segments during counter attack in Kendo. Method: The participants consisted of 10 kendo athletes (mean age: $21.50{\pm}1.95yr$, mean height: $175.58{\pm}5.02cm$, mean body weight: $70.96{\pm}9.47kg$) who performed standard head strikes (A) and counter attack with a preferred hand position of +10 cm (B), 0 cm (C), and -10 cm (D). One force-plate (AMTI-OR-7., USA) was used to collect GRF data at a sample rate of 1,000 Hz. The variables analyzed were the attack time, medial-lateral GRF, anterior-posterior GRF (AP GRF), peak vertical force (PVF), and loading rate. Results: The total attack time was shorter in types A and C than in types C and D. The AP GRF, PVF, and loading rate had significantly higher forces in types C and D than in types A and C. The attack time (bilateral and unilateral leg support and total) was positively correlated with the GRF variables (vertical GRF and loading rate) during the counter attack in Kendo (r = 0.779 [$R^2=0.607$], p < 0.001). Conclusion: The positions of the hand segments can be changed by various conditions of the opponent in Kendo competitions; however, the position preferred by an individual can promote the successful ratio of the counter attack.
Drug releasing porous poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) (PCL)-chitosan matrices were fabricated for bone regenerative therapy. Porous matrices made of biodegradable polymers have been playing a crucial role as bone substitutes and as tissue-engineered scaffolds in bone regenerative therapy. The matrices provided mechanical support for the developing tissue and enhanced tissue formation by releasing active agent in controlled manner. Chitosan was employed to enhance hydrophilicity and biocompatibility of the PCL matrices. PDGF-BB was incorporated into PCL-chitosan matrices to induce enhanced bone regeneration efficacy. PCL-chitosan matrices retained a porous structure with a 100-200 $\mu$m pore diameter that was suitable for cellular migration and osteoid ingrowth. $NaHCO_3$ as a porogen was incorporated 5% ratio to polymer weight to form highly porous scaffolds. PDGF-BB was released from PCL-chitosan matrices maintaining therapeutic concentration for 4 week. High osteoblasts attachment level and proliferation was observed from PCL-chitosan matrices. Scanning electron microscopic examination indicated that cultured osteoblasts showed round form and spread pseudopods after 1 day and showed broad cytoplasmic extension after 14 days. PCL-chitosan matrices promoted bone regeneration and PDGF-BB loaded matrices obtained enhanced bone formation in rat calvarial defect. These results suggested that the PDGF-BB releasing PCL-chitosan porous matrices may be potentially used as tissue engineering scaffolds or bone substitutes with high bone regenerative efficacy.
