Accurate weight prediction methods are an essential of the ship design in both ship cost managements and performance satisfactions. When no parent or similar ships are available, an adequate method of the ship weight estimating is required. In this study, there was carried out to develop the ship weight estimating method for the preliminary design phase. The weight estimating methods were first surveyed by the references and summarized their characteristics. The weight estimation method by statistical approach was developed for the container ship because the containerized transportation markets is gradually growing and ship's size and loading capacity are rapidly enlarged. The correlation analysis and the multiple regression analysis were used for developing the weight estimating method. As a results of evaluating the developed method, the error ratio of the variation between estimated weight and ship's data was about 5%. And it was only 1% difference with the calculating weight of conceptual design results by shipyard design team that the estimating weight of ultra-large container ship was predicted by the developed method.

According to the requirement of wing weight estimation and frequent adjustments during aircraft conceptual design, a wing weight estimation method considering the constraints of structural strength and stiffness is proposed to help designers make wing weight estimations rapidly and accurately. This method implements weight predictions on the basis of structure weight optimization with stiffness constraints and strength constraints, which include achievement of wing shape parametric modeling, rapid structure layout, finite element (FE) model automated generation, load calculation, structure analysis, weight optimization, and weight computed based on modeling. A software tool is developed with this wing weight estimation method. This software can realize the whole process of wing weight estimation with the method and the workload of wing weight estimation is reduced because much of the work can be completed by the software. Finally, an example is given to illustrate that this weight estimation method is effective.

A new non-inferior solution is obtained by investigating method of weight p- norm to explain the conception of MCO (multiple criterion optimization) problem. And then the optimum non-inferior solution is obtained by the weight minimization method applied to objective function of MOSFET NAND rATEAlso this weight minimization method using weight P- norm methods can be applied to non-convex objective function. The result of this minimization method shows the efficiency in comparison with that of Lightner.

This study suggests the Link weight analysis approach to choose input variables and an integrated model to make more accurate bankruptcy prediction model. the Link weight analysis approach is a method to choose input variables to analyze each input node's link weight which is the absolute value of link weight between an input nodes and a hidden layer. There are the weak-linked neurons elimination method, the strong-linked neurons selection method in the link weight analysis approach. The Integrated Model is a combined type adapting Bagging method that uses the average value of the four models, the optimal weak-linked-neurons elimination method, optimal strong-linked neurons selection method, decision-making tree model, and MDA. As a result, the methods suggested in this study - the optimal strong-linked neurons selection method, the optimal weak-linked neurons elimination method, and the integrated model - show much higher accuracy than MDA and decision making tree model. Especially the integrated model shows much higher accuracy than MDA and decision making tree model and shows slightly higher accuracy than the optimal weak-linked neurons elimination method and the optimal strong-linked neurons selection method.

In this paper, we proposed covariance weight matrix using SPT matrix in order to accurate target estimation. We have estimated a target using modified covariance matrix and beam steering error method. We have minimized beam steering error in order to estimation desired a target. This method obtain optimum covariance weight using modified SPT matrix. This paper of proposal method is showed good performance than general method. We updated a weight of covariance matrix using modified SPT matrix. We obtain optimum covariance matrix weight to application beam steering error method in order to beam steering toward desired target. Through simulation, we showed that compare proposal method with general method. It have improved resolution of estimation target to good performance more proposed method than general method.
A cost-saving feeding rate contro method for a batch reaction process is proposed by reconfigurating the flow rate control loop where the feeding rate is estimated by differentiating weight measurement. While the existing control methods require either a flow rate measurement device or a flow rate estimator, the proposed method is devised not to require neither of these facilities by directly controlling the tank weight with a time-varying set point. Experimental evaluation in a pilot-scale unit shows that the proposed method can significantly reduce the actuator hunting of the existing method where the flow rate is estimated by differentiating the weight measurement.

It has been reported that cracks at mechanical fastener holes usually nucleate as elliptical corner cracks at the faying surface of the mechanical joints and grow as elliptical arc through cracks after penetrating the opposite surface. The weight function method is an efficient technique to calculate the stress intensity factors fur elliptical cracks using uncracked stress field. In this study the weight function method for three dimensional mixed-mode problem applied to elliptical comer cracks Is modified for elliptical arc through cracks and the stress intensity factors at two surface points of elliptical arc through cracks at mechanical fastener holes are analyzed by the weight function method. This study consists of two parts and in part I , the weight function method for elliptical arc through cracks is developed and verified.
From time to time the light weight distribution has been discussed, It play an important part in the preliminary design state because of its influence on the available deadweight. Up to the past, the Light weight distribution acting on the ship has been estimated graphically by means of integraph or approximately by the simplified calculations. Recent development has made it possible to use Lloyd's coffin method or Robb's coffin method for Bulk Carrier, Tanker, Cargo ship where the hull weight is distributed based upon the $C_B$ The hull weight distribution is then super-composed by number of fixed weights(i.e. machinery , equipment, etc.) The authors built up the method by which the Light weight distribution is calculated using a computer. In the usual calculations, the higher accuracy is aimed at, the longer time would be taken, therefore the accuracy would not be so good as to be expected if the time is restricted. The method using a computer can dissolve these and calculated accurately in shorter time the Light weight distribution with less data.
The weight function method is an efficient technique to calculate the stress intensity factors for various loading conditions in that only the stress analysis of an uncracked model is required. This paper analyzes the mixed-mode stress intensity factors of surface and deepest points for quarter elliptical surface cracks in mechanical joints by weight function method and the coefficients included in weight function are determined by finite element analyses for reference loadings. Results for the different number of terms in weight function are presented.

In this paper, we present a new learning method for the fuzzy ARTMAP which is effective for the noisy input patterns. Conventional fuzzy ARTMAP employs only fuzzy AND operation between input vector and weight vector in learning both top-down and bottom-up weight vectors. This fuzzy AND operation causes excessive update of the weight vector in the noisy input environment. As a result, the number of spurious categories are increased and the recognition ratio is reduced. To solve these problems, we propose a new method in updating the weight vectors: the top-down weight vectors of the fuzzy ART system are updated using weighted average of the input vector and the weight vector itself, and the bottom-up weight vectors are updated using fuzzy AND operation between the updated top-down weitht vector and bottom-up weight vector itself. The weighted average prevents the excessive update of the weight vectors and the fuzzy AND operation renders the learning fast and stble. Simulation results show that the proposed method reduces the generation of spurious categories and increases the recognition ratio in the noisy input environment.
