  • Weibull distribution Iincluding Rayleigh and Exponential distribution is a typical model to estimate the effort distribution which is committed to the software testing phase. This model does not represent standpoint that many efforts are committed actually at the test beginning point. Moreover, it does not properly represent the various distribution form of actual test effort. To solve these problems, this paper proposes the Sigmoid model. The sigmoid function to be applicable in neural network transformed into the function which properly represents the test effort of software in the model. The model was verified to the six test effort data which were got from actual software projects which have various distribution form and verified the suitability. The Sigmoid model nay be selected by the alternative of Weibull model to estimate software test effort because it is superior than the Weibull model.

  • This paper compares the fatigue behaviors of concretes subjected to flexural and split-tensional loadings, and proposes the fatigue reliability models based on experimental results and reliability analysis. The fatigue tests were performed for the specimens of $150 mm{\times}75 mm$ split tensional cylinders and $150 mm{\times}150 mm{\times}550 mm$ flexural beams under constant loadings at three levels (70, 80 and $90\%$) with 0.1 stress ratio, 20 Hz loading speed and sine wave. The reliability analysis on fatigue data was based on Weibull distribution of two-parameters. From fatigue test results, two criteria were proposed to reject the experimental fatigue data because of statistical variation of concrete fatigue data. Two parameters ($\alpha$and u) of Weibull distribution were obtained using graphical method, moment method and maximum likelihood method. The probability density function(P.D.F) and cumulative distribution function(C.D.F) of the Weibull distribution for fatigue life of pavement concrete were derived for various stress levels using parameters, $\alpha$ and u. The goodness-of-fit test by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was acceptable at $5\%$ level of significance. Based on reliability analysis, a fatigue model for pavement concrete was proposed and compared from existing models.

  • Weibull distribution function is applied very successfully to the strength of brittle materials such as ceramics and the weakest link model is applied to explain the ovents. This paper deals with the effect of specimen size on the strength of ceramics. The values of tensile strength were calculated by the Monte-Calro simuation. The tensile strength obtained was plotted on Weibull probabillity papers and represented by the 3-parameter Weibull distribution. The strength distribution function was compared with the theoretical weibull distribution. As a result, it was found that the Weibull shape parameter was changed due to the size and there was a possibility of a false indication as if the weakest link model holds good. We should be very careful when we apply the Weibull statistics to estimate the strength of products.

  • This paper evaluates software cost estimation models, and presents the most suitable model. First, we transformed a relevant model into variables to make in linear. Second, we evaluated model's performance considering how much suitable the cost data of the actual development software was. In the stage of model performance evaluation criteria, we used MMRE which is the relative error concept rather than the absolute error. Existing software cost estimation model follows Weibull, Gamma, and Rayleigh function. In this paper, Gompertz function model is suggested which is a kind of growth curve. Additionally, we verify the compatability of other different growth curves. As a result of evaluation of model's performance, Gompertz function was considered to be the most suitable for the cost estimation model.

  • For pressure safety valves, open failure and close failure are partially dependent on each other. A method is proposed in this work that uses a Markov process model and a Weibull distribution model in order to construct a reliability model for two kinds of failure. A pressure safety valve model is obtained from a known open failure model, an induced close failure model, and a simultaneous failure model that reproduces recently reported inspection results. It is expected that the application of the proposed method can be expanded to quantitative risk assessment of various systems that have partially dependent multiple failure states.

  • This study is aimed at the establishment and examination of stochastic model to simulate Run-length and Run-sum of daily rainfall and streamflow. In the analysis, daily rainfall records in major cities (Seoul, Kangnung, Taegu, Kwangju, Busan, and Cheju) and daily streamflow records of Major rivers (Han, Nakdong and Geum River) were used. Also, the fitness of daily rainfall and streamflow to Weibull and one parameter exponential distribution was tested by Chi-square and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, from which it was found that daily rainfall and streamflow generally fit well to exponential type distribution function. The Run-length and Run-sum were simulated by the Weibull Model (WBL Model), one parameter exponential model (EXP-1 Model) based on the Nonte Carlo technique. In this result, Run-length of rainfall was fitted for one parameter exponential model and Run-length of streamflow was fitted for Weibull model. And Run-sum of rainfall and streamflow were fit comparatively for regression model. Hereby, statistical charactristics of Simulation data were sinilar to historical data.

  • In this paper, wind data at 20 locations are collected and analyzed in order to review optimal candidate site for offshore wind farm around Korean marginal seas. Observed wind data is fitted to Rayleigh and Weibull distribution and annual energy production is estimated according to wind frequency. As the model of wind turbine generator, seven kinds of output of 1.5~5 MW were selected and their performance curves were used. As a result, Repower-5 MW turbines showed high energy production at wind speeds of 7.15 m/s or higher, but G128-4.5 MW turbines were found to be favorable at lower wind speeds. In the case of Marado, Geojedo and Pohang, where the rate of occurrence of wind speeds over 10 m/s was high, the capacity factor of REpower's 5 MW offshore wind turbine was 56.49%, 50.92% and 50.08%, respectively.

  • Dose-response models in microbial risk assessment can be divided into biologically plausible models and empirical models. Biologically plausible models are formed by the assumptions in dose distribution of microbes, host sensitivity to microbes, and minimal infectious dose of microbes : there are Exponential model and $\beta$-Poisson model, representatively. Empirical models are mainly used to express the toxicity of chemicals : there are Weibull-Gamma model etc. Deviance function (Y) is used to fit available data to dose-response models, and some dose-response models for food-borne pathogens are developed in humans and experimental animals.

  • The aim of this study was to determine the brittle fracture behavior of reactor pressure vessel steel by considering the temperature dependence of a damage model. A multi-island genetic algorithm was linked to a Weibull stress model, which is the model typically used for brittle fracture evaluation, to improve the calibration procedure. The improved calibration procedure and fracture toughness test data for SA508 carbon steel at the temperatures $-60^{\circ}C$, $-80^{\circ}C$, and $-100^{\circ}C$ were used to decide the damage parameters required for the brittle fracture evaluation. The model was found to show temperature dependence, similar to the case of NUREG/CR-6930. Finally, on the basis of the quantification of the difference between 2- and 3-parameter Weibull stress models, an engineering equation that can help obtain more realistic fracture behavior by using the simpler 2-parameter Weibull stress model was proposed.
