  • This case study takes a look at the hyperlink networks extracted from the websites of 367 international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with datasets from 2010, 2012 and 2014. The first level of evaluation focuses on connections between the NGOs, identifying important nodes, groups and their relations. The second level takes into account the broad range of networked websites from the World Wide Web delivering insights into general networking patterns. The third level explores the underlying spatial configurations of the network which offers a great variety of geographic insights on information flows between and within continents, countries and cities. The most interesting findings of this study are a low level of interconnectedness between the NGOs and at the same time a strong spatial concentration of all embedded network actors.

  • The purpose of this paper is propose an analytical method for evaluating user satisfaction of Internet website and identifying casual relationships between user satisfaction of Internet website and performance measures as like revisit intention and complaints using the structural equation model (SEM). This paper is intended to identify critical evaluation factors of user satisfaction for Internet website to determine criteria for evaluating the website. and use the criteria to develop a SEM model for quantitatively evaluation of each factors effects of user preference. The SEM model used 5 latent variables for the evaluation factors of website user satisfaction and 2 latent variables for performance evaluation. 2 portal sites were evaluated to construct the SEM model. and 74 subjects participated the website evaluation using the walk-through and face-to face survey method. Analysis results showed that the SEM model was statistically significant for all the 2 websites evaluated.

  • This study aims to understanding the effects of culture on websites with emphasis on the website structure and navigation. The website is inherently‘cultural’because anyone around the world can access to website if he or she is equipped with appropriate equipment. For the importance of cultural role in website, various researches have been conducted to understand the relationship between culture and website. However they tended to focus mainly on phenomenal matters such as color, layout, icon etc. There have been not so many thorough attempts to causal relationships between website and‘thick culture’in depth. The study conducted cross-cultural usability testing of websites between Korea and America. At first, representative I-commerce websites of Korea and America were selected and they were analyzed by the selected frameworks such as layout, display type, element type, and the relationship with homepage and sub-page navigation. The results were used to construct typical prototypes of website for Korea and America for experiment. Two websites were used for cross-cultural usability testing though specially-developed remote testing. 20 users from each country participated in the usability testing. The result shows that Korean users peformed better usability testing for Korean style structure of website while American counterparts showed better performances in American style of websites. Other various significant findings were revealed.

  • In this paper, we study improvement of web accessibility of Korean Internet shopping mall websites. First, we analyze the criteria of Korean web accessibility, and then evaluate the web accessibility level of major Internet shopping mall websites in Korea. Based on the evaluation of web accessibility level, we propose and implement an alternative text enhancement method using Excel VBA to increase the rate of alternative text for improving web accessibility. Using the proposed method, even non-specialists of web programming can check and modify the alternative text of the image included in web pages, which can help improve the web accessibility compliance rate.

The work is based on the study of the existing literature, user-survey, and technical testing of the website using open-source testing tools to identify user perspective, design issues, website architecture and design quality of the tourism website. A population size of 400 respondents, which consist of both domestic and international tourist, are considered for the survey. Data is received from 360 respondents, which is analyzed using statistical tests like Cronbach's alpha, Pearson's correlation, cross-tabulations, bars charts and graphs to draw inferences and consclusion. The software-based test results serve as another important parameter for the evaluation of the current official website. This study brings out core needs of the tourist in terms of expectations from a tourism website and access technical quality of the current portal to provide necessary feedback and suggestions. • Given the increasing information overload among users of online review websites, understanding the manner in which cognitive costs are reduced and efficient information is made reliable has become increasingly important. This study targets a unique consumer review design and explores how reviews from an external peer-to-peer site embedded in an online travel agency (OTA) website influence subsequent evaluation behaviors. The empirical results indicate that (1) embedded external reviews with a high average valence tend to strengthen the influence of the positive evaluation ratio while diminishing the effect of the review volume, and (2) embedded external reviews with a large variance strengthen the positive effect of the review volume while weakening the effect of the positive evaluation ratio on subsequent positive evaluations. The findings provide practical insights for consumers and online platforms.
