  • Electric utility companies have the responsibility of providing good electricity for their customers. They have introduced the DAS(Distribution Automation System) to automate the power distribution networks. DAS engineers require state-of-the-art applications, such as a way to actively manage the distribution system and gain economic benefits from a flexible DAS architectural design. The existing DAS is not capable of handling these needs. It requires operator intervention whenever feeder overloading is detected while operator error could cause the feeder overload area to be extended. It also utilizes a closed architecture and it is therefore difficult to meet the system migration and future enhancement requirements. This paper represents a web based, platform-independent, flexible DAS architectural design and active database application. Recent advanced Internet technologies are fully utilized in this new DAS architecture allowing it to meet the system migration and future enhancement requirements. By using an active database, the DAS can minimize the feeder overloading area in the distribution system without operator intervention, thereby minimizing mistakes due to operator error.

  • The growth of mobile devices in Internet of Things (IoT) leads to a number of remote and controlling system related IoT applications. For instance, home automation controlling system uses client system such web apps on smartphone or web service to access the home server by sending control commands. The home server receives the command, then controls for instance the light system. The web service gateway responsible for handling clients' requests attests an internet latency when an increasing number of end users requests submit toward it. Therefore, this web service gateway fails to detect several commands, slows down predefined actions which should be performed without human intervention. In this paper, we investigate the performance of a web server-side platgorm based event-driven, non-blocking approach called Node.js against traditional thread-based server side approach to handle a large number of client requests simultaneously for remote and controlling system in IoT remote monitoring applications. The Node.JS is 40% faster than the traditional web server side features thread-based approach. The use of Node.js server-side handles a large number of clients' requests, then therefore, reduces delay in performing predefined actions automatically in IoT environment.

Methods: An electronic literature search of the Cochrane Library, CINAHL, EMBASE, Eric, PsycINFO, PubMed, RISS, and KISS databases was performed, using the combination of keywords such as 'parenthood education', '*natal education', '*birth intervention', 'internet-based intervention', 'randomized controlled trial'. The inclusion criteria were peer-reviewed papers in English regarding randomized controlled trials of internet-based postnatal education interventions. Educational interventions were delivered through any web, mobile, eHealth, mHealth, virtual reality, short message service, or social networking service platform. Quality appraisal was performed using the Risk of Bias 2 (RoB 2) for randomized controlled trials. Nine articles were yielded, and the intervention effects were analyzed. Results: Internet-based education interventions during the postpartum period affect maternal self-efficacy, postpartum depression, and successive breastfeeding; however, they do not affect maternal satisfaction and parenting confidence. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that internet-based education interventions affect maternal health status in terms of psychological, emotional, and physical wellness. Therefore, maternal health care professionals can utilize remote education using the internet or mobile-based interventions during the postpartum period.
