Reports of rampant cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities raise growing concerns on the effectiveness of current Static Analysis Security Testing (SAST) tools as an internet security device. Attentive to these concerns, this study aims to examine seven open-source SAST tools in order to account for their capabilities in detecting XSS vulnerabilities in PHP applications and to determine their performance in terms of effectiveness and analysis runtime. The representative tools - categorized as either text-based or graph-based analysis tools - were all test-run using real-world PHP applications with known XSS vulnerabilities. The collected vulnerability detection reports of each tool were analyzed with the aid of PhpStorm's data flow analyzer. It is observed that the detection rates of the tools calculated from the total vulnerabilities in the applications can be as high as 0.968 and as low as 0.006. Furthermore, the tools took an average of less than a minute to complete an analysis. Notably, their runtime is independent of their analysis type.
The Android operating system is exposed to a phishing attack of stealing private information that a user enters into a web page. We have discovered two security vulnerabilities of the phishing attack. First, an always-on-top scheme allows malware to place a transparent user interface (UI) on the current top screen and intercept a user input. Second, the Android provides some APIs that allow malware to obtain the information of a currently visited web page. This paper introduces a phishing that attacks a web page by exploiting the two vulnerabilities. The attack detects a visit to a security-relevant web page and steals private information from the web page. Our experiments on popular web sites reveal that the attack is significantly accurate and dangerous.

The web is used in various ways such as shopping, news, and searching through a web browser. As the Web becomes more and more common, it is often the case that someone is trying to steal personal information or confidential documents from a company, so security must be paid to ensure security on the web. For this reason, you should be aware of the vulnerabilities that are being exploited maliciously in your web applications and improve security with secure coding. In this paper, we propose a method of detecting hacking and how to deal with vulnerabilities due to some weak points on the web.

The security of the firmware is more important because embedded devices have become popular. Network devices such as routers can be attacked by attackers through web application vulnerabilities in embedded firmware. Therefore, they must be found and removed quickly. The Firmadyne framework proposes a dynamic analysis method to find vulnerabilities after emulating firmware. However, it only performs vulnerability checks according to the analysis methods defined in the tool, thus limiting the scope of vulnerabilities that can be found. In this paper, fuzzing is performed in emulation-based environment through fuzzing, one of the software security test techniques. We also propose a Fabfuzz tool for efficient emulation based fuzzing. Experiments have shown that in addition to the vulnerabilities identified in existing tools, other types of vulnerabilities have been found.
Currently, even if control and mock hacking are performed for the security of web servers, vulnerabilities continue to occur and be hacked. To solve this problem, we have developed a secure web server that can control all web communication using sockets between L4 and L5. And when giving HTTP responses, we proposed a method of combining files and headers in advance. As a result, both security and speed could be improved. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed the reason why vulnerabilities occur even if control and mock hacking occur, a solution to it, and a security web server development method that can maintain security up to DB.

Web Services have been used in a variety of applications and have become a key technology in developing business operations on the Web. However, despite the growing use of Web Services by large corporations, security is still a major concern that is slowing their deployment. In this paper, we give an overview of security vulnerabilities, review the existing solutions, and show their limitations.

The web space where web applications run is the cyber information warfare of attackers and defenders due to the open HTML. In the cyber attack space, about 84% of worldwide attacks exploit vulnerabilities in web applications and software. It is very difficult to detect web vulnerability attacks with security products such as web firewalls, and high labor costs are required for security verification and assurance of web applications. Therefore, rapid vulnerability detection and response in web space by automated software is a key and effective cyber attack defense strategy. In this paper, we establish a security risk management model by intensively analyzing security threats against web applications and software, and propose a method to effectively diagnose web and application vulnerabilities. The testing results on the commercial service are analyzed to prove that our approach is more effective than the other existing methods.

To provide visitors with the various services, Many web sites distribute many ActiveX controls to them because ActiveX controls can overcome limits of HTML documents and script languages. However, PC can become dangerous if it has unsecure ActiveX controls, because they can be executed in HTML documents. Nevertheless, many web sites provide visitors with ActiveX controls whose security are not verified. Therefore, the verification is needed by third party to remove vulnerabilities in ActiveX controls. In this paper, we introduce the process and the technique to fad vulnerabilities. The existing proof codes are not valid because ActiveX controls are different from normal application and domestic environments are different from foreign environments. In this paper, we introduce the technique to prove vulnerabilities in ActiveX control.

Application-layer Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack is one of the leading security problems in the Internet. In recent years, the attack strategies of application-layer DDoS have rapidly developed. This paper introduces a new attack strategy named Path Vulnerabilities-Based (PVB) attack. In this attack strategy, an attacker first analyzes the contents of web pages and subsequently measures the actual response time of each webpage to build a web-resource-weighted-directed graph. The attacker uses a Top M Longest Path algorithm to find M DDoS vulnerable paths that consume considerable resources when sequentially accessing the pages following any of those paths. A detection mechanism for such attack is also proposed and discussed. A finite-state machine is used to model the dynamical processes for the state of the user's session and monitor the PVB attacks. Numerical results based on real-traffic simulations reveal the efficiency of the attack strategy and the detection mechanism.

Cyber attacks have rapidly increased by exploiting the underlying vulnerabilities in the target software. However, identifying and correcting these vulnerabilities are extremely difficult and time consuming tasks. To address these problems efficiently, we propose a systematic methodology for security vulnerability assessment process on binary code in the paper. Specifically, we first classified the existing vulnerabilities based on whether the target software run in a Web environment and features of the software. Based on the classification, we determined the list and scope of the vulnerabilities. As our future research direction, we need to further refine and validate our methodology.
