Of critical importance to the success of any e-commerce site are the two factors: rapid application development and quick response time. A three-tier architecture composed of presentation layer, business layer, and data access layer emerges to allow rapid changes in user interface, business logic, and database structures. Too often, such a logical three-tier architecture is considered as requiring a three-tier physical architecture: Web server, application server, and database server running on separate computers. Contrary to the common belief, a Web stress test reveals that the three-tier logical architecture implemented on a two-tier physical platform guarantees a quicker response time due to the reduction in cross-machine communications. This would lead business firms to economize their spending on e-commerce: increasing the number of physical servers to expedite transaction is not necessarily the best solution. Before selecting a particular hardware configuration, a Web stress test needs to be conducted to compare the relative merits of alternative physical architectures. Together with capacity planning, Web stress test emerges as a powerful tool to build robust, yet economical e-commerce sites.

The previous studies regarding the usability evaluation of e-government web sites focused only on deriving affecting factors and variables. They did not find the relationship of usability, user satisfaction and revisiting. The objective of this paper is to find the causal effect how the usability of e-government web sites affect to the user satisfaction and the revisiting attitude. no scope of e-government web sites included the portal site and ie liked web sites. We developed a structural equation model and performed a user test. As a result, a perceived usability affected the revisiting, but it did not intermediate the user satisfaction.

Tourism now stand among the fastest and largest industries in the global economy in the 21 st era, with knowledge information and environment industry. After 1990's, each local government in korea that has been organizing and expanding new and existing festivals, those related locality, natural resources, speciality and ethnic customs. While netizens have increased from the later half of 1990's, the Internet has appeared in it with a main advertizing channel of all industries, especially tourism. Each local county publicizes a local festival and all kind of information while managing its web-site. However, they have lots of difficulties In building local information web sites because of lack of technical and financial resources. This study examined general theories about Internet web sites and local festivals to elicit the previous problems and to suggest the ways to activate local festivals utilizing Internet, based upon analysis of web sites and Internet utilization on local festivals designated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as the cultural tour one among local festivals.

Currently, obtaining information about the housing studies through the internet web sites is one of the outstanding mediums. Those are of the housings, architecture, interior design, furniture products, hotels and its journals, etc., and out of all those informations are the highly expected value of use. But. it may causes the public users to experience a negative effect, because many of those informations provided on the internet web sites related to the housing studies/informations are not providing an equal quality of information. And measuring the quality is also not easy. This study focuses on the establishment of evaluation criterion for the housing information-related internet web sites. In such a vein, it proposes a clear model to evaluate the information qualities with the 43 questionnaires / examining items. To test the questionnaires/rating items, the analysis has been implemented which has shown the reciprocal effect between the 2 major factors. One major factor with 4 variables on the information searches are (1) the accuracy/reliability of contents and techniques, (2) the design of a picture and communication, (3) the readability and security, and (4) the security of private information, and the other factor with 3variables on the additional services are (1) the diversities of contents and ease of orderings, (2) the abilities of search and e-mail, and (3) the events and after services. This study/rating model will provide the users with a fundamental material in evaluating the quality of housing information on the internet web sites.

Some issues which should be considered in an R&D project selection problem are as follows: First, quantitative analysis on the efficiencies of R&D projects is required to guarantee objective validity in the evaluation of the projects. For this reason, the methodology for selecting R&D projects should be based on mathematical models that perform quantitative analysis. Second, in general there are ordinal factors like Likert-scale in the data for evaluating R&D projects. Previous researches, however, couldn't suggest explicit methods incorporating these ordinal factors into models. Third, for the R&D project selection problems with limited resources like budget, it is necessary to decide the perfect ranking of the all projects. This paper develops a mathematical model that can be applicable to the problems of selecting R&D projects with the previous features. In this paper, we improve the original DEA model for evaluating efficiency to incorporate ordinal factors and suggest a new model which can decide the perfect ranking of all projects by merging the improved DEA model and AHP method. Furthermore a web-based R&D project selection system using the DEA/AHP model suggested in this paper is developed and illustrated.

Web usability for e-commerce sites becomes a more important issue as e-commerce gains its popularity. As for fresh foods, consumers are especially sensitive to the quality of information during transaction process. Successful fresh food e-commerce sites, such as Wine. com and Tesco, identified regular usability testing as part of key success factors. This paper aims to identify processes for evaluating usability of fresh food e-commerce sites and provide recommendations to improve usability. The study aims to evaluate Web usability of selected Web sites using heuristic evaluation to provide objective Web usability analysis for each transaction process and think aloud method to understand how users actually evaluate the Web site.

With development of computer engineering and the examination theories, new techniques to use computers in making or administrating examinations had been studied and developed. Recently, studies on web-based testing are in progress with development of Internet and information and communication technology. However, as compared with development of these technical aspects, studies on the user legibility to provide learners with comfortable environment for the evaluation have been insufficient in fact. In the web-based testing, user legibility decreases the anxiety of examinees in the examination and plays an important role in measuring their competence exactly. In this study, we tried to provide the optimum web-based evaluation interface by obtaining information through a questionnaire for primary-school students. We think that principles suggested in this study can give a great help in making the web-based evaluation screen in future. Besides, studies on more various fields including making individual questions, instructing sentences and layout of multimedia factors as well as the principles mentioned in this study should be performed.

With the beginning of foreign workers' immigration since 1990, Korea has faced multi-cultural society. At the same time, the number of female marriage immigrants have constantly increased. But the social services for immigrants are not yet prepared. According to the research on the actual condition of immigrants' culture enjoyment, which was done by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea, the most preferable leisure activity of immigrants is 'sightseeing'. So this study focused on improvement of web contents of tourism information to satisfy the information needs of immigrants. Concretely, this study analysed the present condition of the existing tourism web contents, and analysed deeply the web site 'Tourism Busan' for special reference. Especially this study tried to analyse VOD images among web contents of 'Tourism Busan', and provided concrete improvement plan for that. And also this study processed interview with marriage immigrants to provide web site evaluation at the level of immigrants' eyes. As a result of evaluation, immigrants was the most dissatisfied with 'contents quality', and showed lower dissatisfaction at 'service quality', 'interface quality' factors.

Many people get plenty of information from World Wide Web, and the study of the factors that affect on reading task on web browser is presenting important issue. But domestic studies on legibility of Korean on web environment were relatively poor and the study about suitable text layout for skimming wasn't carried out also. At this point, this study was performed to investigate the effects of two types of reading, three levels of line length, and three levels of interlinear spacing on comprehension and reading rate when subjects read the materials on web browser. Reading speed, error rate, subjective preference and SACL(Stress and Arousal Checklist) evaluation were measured to evaluate the effects. Eighteen volunteer subjects participated in eighteen web document sessions with two different reading types, three different line lengths, and three different interlinear spacings. Statistical results from objective and subjective evaluations indicate that 50 characters per line of line length and 100 percents of interlinear spacing improved reading rate, overall error rates were reduced when reading normally, and SACL measures were increased at fast reading type. Consequently, in order to design text layout to retrieve information in WWW environment effectively, just applying guidelines of traditional printed material is not proper. Therefore, it is effective to consider reading type, line length, and interlinear spacing. Implications of these results and suggestions for the further study are also addressed.

This paper covers the development process of multimedia evaluation system, especially focused on customer satisfactory factors while customers navigating net-based Interactive multimedia system. Customers usually experience new level of interaction cased by newly developed web-based technology In ordinary multimedia system. However, if it gives customers satisfactory experience is a matter of question. To find out the relationship between customer satisfaction and interactivity factors exposed by multimedia system, a model has been developed which describes the structure of web-based multimedia system and its relation to customer satisfactory factors. Five different experiments, including 'semantic differential', 'focus group interview', and 'expert review', has been conducted and four customer satisfactory factors were identified. Those are 'customery value', 'structural perfectness', 'visual perfectness', and 'contemporaneity'. With these factors and newly delveoped evaluation system, 7 different web-site has been evaluated and analyzed at the end of this report.
