Improving Performance of Search Engine Using Category based Evaluation (범주 기반 평가를 이용한 검색시스템의 성능 향상)

  • In the current Internet environment where there is high space complexity of information, search engines aim to provide accurate information that users want. But content-based method adopted by most of search engines cannot be used as an effective tool in the current Internet environment. As content-based method gives different weights to each web page using morphological characteristics of vocabulary, the method has its drawbacks of not being effective in distinguishing each web page. To resolve this problem and provide useful information to the users, this paper proposes an evaluation method based on categories. Category-based evaluation method is to extend query to semantic relations and measure the similarity to web pages. In applying weighting to web pages, category-based evaluation method utilizes user response to web page retrieval and categories of query and thus better distinguish web pages. The method proposed in this paper has the advantage of being able to effectively provide the information users want through search engines and the utility of category-based evaluation technique has been confirmed through various experiments.

  • Content used in mashups is typically obtained from a third party source through a public interface or API (web services). Other methods of obtaining content for mashups include Web feeds (e.g. RSS or Atom), and screen scraping. A mashup or meshup Web application has two parts: A new service delivered through a Web page, using its own data and data from other sources. The blended data, made available across the Web through an API or other protocols such as HlTP, RSS, REST, etc. There are many types of mashups, such as consumer mashups, data mashups, and Business Mashups. The most common mashup is the consumer mashup, which are aimed at the general public. Examples include Google Maps, iGuide, and RadioClouds. 4D Wall-map display is data mashups combine similar types of media and information from multiple sources into a single representation. This technology focus data into a single presentation and allow for collaborative action among ITS-related information sources.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare storytelling with TV entertainment programs to find out which elements of web entertainment affected the shift of viewers' interest, and to identify the characteristics of web entertainment storytelling. To this end, each of the web and TV entertainment programs were selected for storytelling analysis, and storytelling analyzed the contents of each item by dividing them into images, backgrounds, stories, and characters. As a result of the analysis, unlike TV programs, web entertainment storytelling allows viewers to immerse themselves in content through a composition that runs directly from the beginning to the crisis, and is characterized by a clear formation in a short video through a clear ending narrative. These research results hope that short-form web entertainment programs produced in the future will be able to identify strategies for viewers' immersion and storytelling strategies.

  • The objective of this study is to satisfy requirements for a variety of terminals to play wired web page contents in ubiquitous environment constantly connected to network. In other words, this study intended to automatically transcode wired web page into mobile web page in order to receive service by using mobile base to carry contents in Internet web page. To achieve this objective, we suggest the method that is to directly enter URL of web page in mobile device and to check contents of the current web page. For this, web page is converted into an image and configured into a mobile web page suitable for personal terminals. Users can obtain the effect of having web services provided by using computer with interfaces to expand, reduce and move the web page as desired. This is a caret unit play method, with which contents of web page are transcoded and played to suit each user According to the method proposed in this study, contents of wired web page can be played by using a mobile device. This study confirms that a single content can be serviced to suit users of various terminals. Through this, it will be able to reuse numerous wired web contents as mobile web contents.

  • Due to the recent explosive progress of Web, We can easily access a large number of images from m. In this paper, we describe our approach of developing a general purpose content based image retrieval system over the H using a Web agent. The Web agent extracts text information of images from the links and file contents in HTML. The proposed system retrieves the images from database using the query by sketch and the query by example on Web browser. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the new approach.

  • World-Wide Web(WWW)이 발전하면서 웹으로부터 사용자가 원하는 정보를 효과적으로 찾기 위한 정보검색 방법론이 연구가들로부터 중요한 이슈로서 대두되었고 이에 기반하여 여러 상용 정보검색 시스템들이 등장하게 되었다. 그러나, 이러한 정보검색 시스템들은 웹에 존재하는 데이터의 비구조화와 다양성, 사용자의 다양성, 그리고 정보의 질과 양이 문제로 인하여 사용자의 의도와 요구에 맞는 정보를 구하기 어렵다. 또한, 웹 상의 많은 데이터들로부터 단순히 일반적인 정보만을 얻어 이용할 뿐 효과적인 지식의 탐사나 관리 기능을 갖고 있지 않다. 본 논문에서는 이전의 정보검색 시스템들이 갖는 문제점을 분석하고 이를 보완하고자 웹에 대한 지식 발견(Knowledge Discovery)의 새로운 시도인 웹 마이닝(Web Mining)에 대한 관련 연구를 토대로 웹 마이닝 시스템을 설계 및 구현한다. 특히, 사용자의 의도를 정확히 전달하기 위하여 기존의 SQL 과 유사한 형태의 질의어인 WMSQL을 사용하여 웹 문서의 내용에 직접적인 웹 마이닝을 수행하는 Web Content Mining을 개발함으로서 웹의 비구조화된 데이터로부터 의미있고 함축적인 지식을 추출할 수 있도록 한다.

Peer-revision in web-based English writing (웹기반 영작문교육에서의 동료수정 양상 연구)

  • This study is aimed at investigating the aspects of peer correction and responses of English composition in the web-based class. The participants for this study are students enrolled in the 'preparatory college cyber study center'. Two assignments were given--composition with no feedback and composition followed by student feedback. The participants' feedbacks, responses, and attitudes in peer interaction were analysed. The processes of these two assignments were also compared. The results were as follows: First, students' competitive attitude changed into cooperative attitude when peer-revision was followed. Second, both formal and content feedback were shown in the cyber composition class just as in the classroom composition class, but under no specific guidance, the majority of students' feedbacks were formal feedbacks. Third, some characteristics of web-based writing were found. In the web-based writing class where around a hundred students are enrolled. students' feedbacks were inevitable. The results of this study supported the use of students feedback.

  • There are various typing practice applications. In addition, research cases on learning applications that support typing practice have been reported. These services are usually provided in a way that utilizes their own built-in text. Learners collect various contents through web services and use them a lot for learning. Therefore, this paper proposes a learning application to increase the learning effect by collecting vast amounts of web content and applying it to typing practice. The proposed application is implemented using Tkinter, a GUI module of Python. BeautifulSoup module of Python is used to extract information from the web. In order to process the extracted data, the NLTK module, which is an English data preprocessor, and the KoNLPy module, which is a Korean language processing module, are used. The operation of the proposed function is verified in the implementation and experimental results.

  • Recently, there has been increasing interest to web access through mobile host due to the explosion of internet mobile terminal such as smart phone. However, small displays of mobile hosts make it difficult to browse the full content of a web page at a time. In order to overcome these limitation, we have designed and implemented Web-based text summarization system. The proposed system can summarize the text for the Web page in which abundant text exist in a page. This can reduce the amount of data transmission and minimize the unnecessary data output during browsing at mobile host. Through implementation, we have confirmed the functions of the proposed system.

An Adaptation System based on Personalized Web Content Items for Mobile Devices

  • Users want to browse and search various web contents with mobile devices which can be used anywhere and anytime without limitations, in the same manner as desktop. But mobile devices have limited resources compared to desktop in terms of computing performance, network bandwidth, screen size for full browsing, and etc, so there are many difficulties in providing support for mobile devices to fully use desktop-based web contents. Recently, mobile network bandwidth has been greatly improved, however, since mobile devices cannot provide the same environment as desktop, users still feel inconvenienced. To provide web contents optimized for each user device, there have been studies about analyzing code to extract blocks for adaptation to a mobile environment. But since web contents are divided into several items such as menu, login, news, shopping, etc, if the block dividing basis is limited only to code or segment size, it will be difficult for users to recognize and find the items they need. Also it is necessary to resolve interface issues, which are the biggest inconvenience for users browsing in a mobile environment. In this paper, we suggest a personalized adaptation system that extracts item blocks from desktop-based web contents based on user interests, layers them, and adapts them for users so they can see preferred contents first.
