  • Since the mid-2000, so-called Web 2.0 paradigm was emerged and has been widely extended to actual Web markets with supporting Web technologies. Among Web 2.0 services, mashups with Open APIs is regarded as one of core technologies. Web mapping is also the most dominant mashup application in Open API-based applications, so that various mashups with Google Map API and other Open APIs are developing. In this paper, current technological status is explained with web GIS file formats of KML. While, a prototype is web-based GIS layer authoring system for general users, without any kinds of GIS tools and external spatial databases. This mashup application will be used web-based feature extraction for geo-spatial web for public users.

  • Mashups are new type of interactive web applications, combining content from multiple services or sources at run time. The www is currently experiencing a revolutionary growth due to its increasing participative community software applications. One of the interesting aspects of the Web 2.0 evolution is the wide-availability of various Web applications as APIs or Web services. These APIs expose informational services on the Web and take many forms of remote invocation of functions using standard Web protocols and XML for data representations. The paper describes mashups from a number of angles, highlighting current developments while providing sufficient illustrations to indicate its potential implications.

  • In a web 2.0 environment, as a wide range of web services are being utilized, it requires quick and convenient way to develop web applications. For this purpose, the framework has been recently introduced and has been applied to web applications. However, software quality application model has not been presented for the web application using framework. In this paper, we develop web application, online library system using a number of frameworks. The system allows users to freely share book information. In order to evaluate the system, we present new software quality evaluation model for web applications using framework. The five quality attributes, functionality, usability, efficiency, maintainability, stability are defined based on the international standard for software quality evaluation, ISO/IEC 9126-2. We also propose the evaluation metrics for the web application using framework and perform quantitative evalzuation for the online library system.

  • Web on Web 2.0 paradigm is regarded as a kind of platform. Accordingly, users on web can use almost same applications like using certain applications on personal computer, to given purposes. For Web as platform, it needs web-based or web-recognizable file format to communicate or to exchange various information contents and data among applied applications. Text-based JSON is a practical format directly linked Javascript on Web, so that XML-typed data, being previously built, can be possible for tagging process containing JSON format. However, GeoJSON handling geo-spatial data sets is now fledgling stage in standards. Thus, it is not on the practical applicability level, and there are a few tools or open sources for this format. To adopt GeoJSON for the future Geo-web application, users implement GeoJSON parser or apply the server-based open source GIS for their purpose. In this study, a preliminary work for GeoJSON application in Geo-web service carried out using Google Maps API and openlayers library API.

  • Convergence is an important concept for driving our society to be ubiquitous. The objectives of this paper are to conceptualize information convergence, and to analyze its mechanisms from the view of ubiquitous library circumstances. Further, this paper suggests mobile Web 2.0 as a library supporting technology for information convergence and some kinds of mobile based library user services using mobile Web 2.0 applications.

  • Due to the development of technology even in learning and education area, many studies have begun to make a new attempts to research by using SNS, breaking away from traditional learning methods. However, the limitations of these studies are restricted only to the use of wireless Internet and writing on Web sites. This study aims to conduct a research on English learning activities that utilize various technologies such as Bigdata, Facebook, Social Network Services (SNS) and English applications. In addition, this study looks into how these modern technologies can be integrated in the classrooms and which activities can be applied in the English classroom. This research is to suggest effective English learning methods through a thorough investigation on the effectivity of various technologies based on the Web 2.0 such as Flickr, blogs, MySpace, and online discussion board within the context of the English learning. To verify the effect of the study, the subjects are divided into experimental and control group. The experiment is proceeded with pre- and post-test. The experimental group is designed to verify the effects using SNS tools such as Facebook, Bigdata, and Online Massive Learning. A survey is conducted to determine the preference of utilizing social networking sites and to analyze the effects in class. The result is that the average scores for experimental group have improved more than the average of control group. The comparison of pre and post-test of the experimental group shows that the significance of the higher and median group was statistically significant at the p<0.01.

  • Recently, as modern Internet uses mashups, Web 3.0, JavaScript/AJAX widely, the rate at which new vulnerabilities are being discovered is increasing rapidly. It can subsequently introduce big security threats. In order to efficiently mitigate these web application vulnerabilities and security threats, it is needed to rank vulnerabilities based on severity and consider the severe vulnerabilities during a specific phase of software development lifecycle (SDLC) for web applications. In this paper, we have first verified whether the risk rating methodology of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities is a reasonable one or not by analyzing the vulnerability data of web applications in the US National Vulnerability Database (NVD). Then, by inspecting the vulnerability information of web applications based on OWASP Top-10 2010 list and CWE (Common Weakness Enumeration) directory, we have mapped the web-related entries of CWE onto the entries of OWASP Top-10 2010 and prioritized them. We have also presented which phase of SDLC is associated with each vulnerability entry. Using this approach, we can prevent or mitigate web application vulnerabilities and security threats efficiently.

  • Recently, RESTful web service is getting attention with the emergence of Web 2.0. The main advantages of REST web services are lightweight and easy implementation compared to SOAP based web services. In order to define and describe RESTful APIs, various methods have proposed. WSDL 2.0 can describe both SOAP-based and RESTful services and but it is too complicated. WADL is championed by Sun Microsystems and it is lightweight, easier to understand and easier to write than WSDL. The purpose of WADL is to allow web services to be described in a machine readable way, to make it easy to create Web 2.0 applications and create a dynamic way of creating and configuring services. However, WADL does not provide utility tools to generate client code automatically and the developers describe client code manually. In this paper, we design and implement a WADL2Stub system to generate client code from WADL files automatically so that the developers use REST web services to easily and conveniently.

  • According as utilization for web increases rapidly, it is demanded that model about support interaction between web-based applications systematically and solutions can integrate new distributed platforms and existing environment effectively, accordingly, Web Services appeared by solution in reply. These days, a lot of software and hardware companies try to adoption of Web Services to their market, attenpt to construct their applications associationing components from various Web Services providers. However, to execute Web Services completely. it must have interoperability and need the standardization work that avoid thing which is subject to platform, application as well as service and programming language from other companies. WS-I (Web Services Interoperability organization) have established Basic Profile 1.0 based on XML, UDDI, WSDL and SOAP for web services interoperability and developed usage scenario Profile to apply Web Services in practice. In this paper, to verify suitability Web Services interoperability between heterogeneous two applications, have design and implements the Book Information Web Services that based on the Web Services Client of J2SE platform and the Web Services Server of .NET platform, so that analysis and verify the service by adaptation of WS-I Basic Profile.

  • Smart client is a term describing an application environment which delivers applications over a web HTTP connection and does not require installation and/or updates. The term "Smart Client" is meant to refer to simultaneously capturing the benefits of a "thin client" (zero-install, auto-update) and a "fat client" (high performance, high productivity). A "Smart Client" application can be created in several very different technologies. Over the past few years, ITS has started to move towards smart clients, also called rich clients. The trend is a move from traditional client/server architecture to a Web-based model. More similar to a fat client vs. a thin client, smart clients are Internet-connected devices that allows a user's local applications to interact with server-based applications through the use of Web services. Smart Client applications in BIT bridge the gap between web applications and desktop applications. They provide the benefits of a web applicationwhile still providing the snappy look and feel inherent to desktop applications.
