  • This study establishes basic data for the development of a new Chemical, Biological, and Radioactive (CBR) protective clothing by selecting the ventilation position to optimize thermal comfort on the basis of the opening and closing of each part. Participants were eight men in their 20s who had previously worn CBR protective clothing. After vigorous exercise and perspiration, the microclimate of the clothing and skin temperature was measured. Results revealed that when the ventilation zipper was opened after exercising, the skin and clothing microclimate temperatures, which had increased during the exercise, decreased in the chest and shoulder blade regions. The clothing microclimate humidity decreased in the chest area. The change was greatest in the chest region; the skin temperature decreased by 0.2℃, the clothing microclimate temperature by 2.7℃, and the clothing microclimate humidity by 3.2%RH through ventilation. Thus, the opening that allows the exchange of accumulated heat and moisture while wearing the CBR protective clothing is efficient.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of using socks combined with EMS on ankle pain reduction and ankle function improvement in home training participants. In this study, the conductive fabric was combined using socks that can properly compress the ankle. First, VAS was measured during EMS training after fatigue was induced and compared with fatigue during rest. It was confirmed that the level of VAS after EMS training was lower than after rest and fatigue. It was also confirmed that EMS training, which combines EMS with socks, was effective in reducing pain. The experimental action is a measurement action of WBLT and lying posture, and the situation before and after EMS training was compared by performing 30 minutes on the treadmill to cause delayed muscle pain during exercise. As a result of this study, it was found that pain reduction and ROM function were improved when electrical stimulation was performed using EMS socks. It was also confirmed that the application of electrical stimulation to EMS socks effected on ankle fatigue and function improvement. From the study results, it is expected that wearing socks equipped with EMS significantly reduces ankle injuries and improves functional recovery for home training participants.

  • This study aimed to examine the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome by reviewing published randomized controlled trials. Among the 186 studies retrieved from 7 online databases (PubMed, Cochrane library, CNKI, NDSL, RISS, OASIS, KMbase) on October 29, 2021, 4 studies were selected according to the inclusion, exclusion criteria, and were evaluated using risk of bias. Control groups for electroacupuncture were wearing a splint at night, traditional acupuncture, and medication. Methods such as total effective, functional status scale, symptom severity scale, electromyography, tip pinch strength, visual analogue scale, numeric rating scale, and ultrasound were used to evaluate the therapeutic effect. Electroacupuncture was reported to have significant treatment results compared with the control group in methods such as total effectiveness, electromyography, and tip pinch strength. However, the quality of the studies (using risk of bias) does not allow reliable conclusions to be made. Many high quality (low risk of bias) randomized controlled trials are needed to examine the efficacy of electroacupuncture treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome.

  • Purpose. We wanted to find out how the changes in brain function affected by the beats per minute (BPM) of music affected visual function. Methods. The subjects were 40 people in their 20s (30 men, 10 women) with no eye disease, strabismus, amblyopia and a corrected visual acuity of 1.0 or higher. Wearing headphones while excluding surrounding noise as much as possible, we played music while adjusting the beat rate at 40 BPM intervals from 80 to 200 BPM. Then, pupil size measurement, lag of accommodation test, and minus lens addition method maximum accommodation test were performed and analyzed. Results. As a result of analyzing changes in visual function according to beats per minute [BPM], it was found that although sound can be consciously affected, it does not directly affect visual function significantly in terms of accommodative lag and changes in pupil size. It was confirmed that the effect was limited to the maximum accommodation. Conclusions. In clinical practice, it is necessary to conduct a refraction test while keeping in mind that there are changes in visual function depending on the BPM of surrounding sounds.

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of waist size on the reliability and validity of pedometers to count steps in children and youth. The participants for this study were 20 children and youth, composed of 14 Hispanic and 6 Caucasian children. Ten children and youth had waist circumferences greater than the $85^{th}$ percentile (Body Mass Index (BMI)=$28.91\pm3.07$), and 10 children and youth had waist circumferences smaller than the $50^{th}$ percentile (BMI=$18.05\pm1.55$). To examine pedometer reliability, each child completed 3 ascent and descent trials up a set of 15 stairs while wearing a Yamax SW-701 pedometer. The main effect of trials was not statistically significant for the stair ascent trials F (2, 36)=2.575 or for the descent trials F (2, 36)=0.235. The trial by group interaction was also not statistically significant. To examine the influence of waist circumference on the validity of the pedometer in counting walking steps at a self-selected walking pace, the children and youth in the two groups completed a 400-m course. The main effect on the groups was statistically significant, F (1, 18)=7.489. The main effect of counting techniques was not statistically significant, F (1, 18)=2.983 (hand-counted vs. pedometer counted). Overall, the trial and trial by group interaction comparisons for the 400-m walk were not statistically significant, suggesting that the pedometer was equally valid as a tool for assessing walking steps in high waist circumference (HWC) and low waist circumference (LWC) in children and youth.

  • Nano sized ZnO particle as 20-30nm applies for material, pigments, rubber additives, gas sensors, varistors, fluorescent substance as well as new material such as photo-catalyst, sensitizer, fluorescent material. ZnO with a particle size in the range 20-30nm has provided to be an excellent UV blocking material in the cosmetics industry, which can be used in sunscreen product to enhance the sun protection factor and natural makeup effect. But pure ZnO particles application limits for getting worse wearing feeling. We make high-functional inorganic-composite that coated with nano-ZnO on the plate-type particle such as sericite, boron nitride and bismuthoxychloride. In this experiment, we synthesized composite powder using hydrothermal precipitation method. The starting material was ZnCl$_2$ Precipitation materials were used hexamethylenetetramine(HMT) and urea. We make an experiment with changing as synthesis factors that are concentrations of starting material, precipitation materials, nuclear formation material, reaction time, and reaction temperature. We analyzed composite powder's shape, crystallization and UV-blocking ability with FE-SEM, XRD, FT-IR, TGA-DTA, In vitro SPF test. The user test was conducted by product's formulator. In the results of this study, nanometer sized ZnD was coated regardless of the type of plate-powder at fixed condition range. When the coated plate-powders were applied in pressed powder product, the glaze of powder itself decreased, but natural make-up effect, spreadability, and adhesionability were increased.

  • Pads with high dielectric materials have been used in a variety of applications to locally improve the field sensitivity and homogeneity of RF pulses in clinical MRI studies. In this study, we aimed to improve such pads in consideration of the practical problems associated with the application of actual clinical images. A high permittivity pad to increase the attenuated B1 field strength was fabricated and tested in 7T MRI. Sim4Life simulation and experimental results show stronger and relatively uniform B1 near field. In order to improve the image quality in the whole cerebellum, known as a region with low sensitivity, a guide was made to reduce the mechanical change of the pad. In order to improve the wearing comfort, the pad was designed by dividing it into upper and lower parts. The facial pad showed an overall signal increase effect in areas such as the turbinate in the nasal cavity. Signal increase was expected in areas such as the frontal lobe and eyes, but the effect was either insignificant or it was difficult to see the effect in the imaging protocol. In conclusion, this paper showed a cerebellar-optimized pad with an improved nasal signal while maintaining its effectiveness.
