The purpose of this study is to investigate the lubricated wear properties of Saffil/Al, Saffil/$Al_2O_3/Al$ and Saffil/SiC/Al hybrid metal matrix composites fabricated by squeeze casting method. Wear tests were done on a pin-on-disk friction & wear tester with long sliding distance. The wear properties of the three composites were evaluated in many respects. The effects of Saffil, $Al_2O_3$ particles and SiC particles on the wear behavior of the composites under lubricated conditions were elucidated. Wear mechanisms were analyzed by observing the worn surfaces of the composites. The variation of coefficient of friction (COF) during the wear process was recorded by using a computer. Comparing with the dry sliding condition, all three composites showed excellent wear resistance when lubricated by liquid paraffin. Under intermediate load, Saffil/Al showed best wear resistance among them, and its COF value is the smallest. The dominant wear mechanism of the composites was microploughing, but microcracking also occurred for them to different extent.
Because of excellent mechanical properties, such as good friction coefficient and heat resistance characteristics, PTFE parts have been widely used in the industries. However, the poor wear resistance of PTFE has been a main problem limiting wider applications. In this study, to improve the poor wear resistance of PTFE, porous PTFE composites were prepared by mixing additives(sodium bicarbonate and graphite) with PTFE powder. The friction coefficient, wear resistance and lubricating property of porous PTFE composites were measured and the results were compared with those of untreated PTFE.

The production technology of high strength and toughness wear resistance steel involves attempt to application of severe wear parts for the construction machinery. A well balanced alloy content ensures that optimum tensile properties are achieved for the high strength. After high temperature deformation like as rolling or forging it has bainite microstructure and lower yield rato(under 80%) The effectiveness of the research approach is illustrated with experimental results on good steel cleanliness(O2 :12.2 ppm, 0,004% S, 0.008%, P nonmetalic inclusion dT: 0.10) and excellent mechanical properties (TS$\geq$140kgf/mm2 El $\geq$10% IV$\geq$20j/cm2) Therefore this should be wear resistance steel which develops high strength and high toughness without heat treatment
The multi function sprayed coating is used for direct-heating, wear resistance and high bonding strength. The merits of surface direct-heating coatings are short warming time, low power consumption and better wear resistance that can be used in many organization parts. In this study, the surface direct-heating and wear resistance can be improved by spraying the proper materials on the surface $Al_2$O$_3$40%TiO$_2$ powder and Ni-20%Cr powder that had the properties of conduction and high wear resistivity are used in order to improve wear resistance, electrical properties and bonding strength.
Titanium (Ti) based alloys are widely used in biomedical implants due to their low density, excellent corrosion resistance and good biocompatibilities. In recent years, growing interest in sever plastic deformation (SPD) has stimulated research and development on the techniques to attain refining of the grain size to the submicrometer or even nanometer level. The mechanical and wear properties determining the application of Ti in medicine may be improved via SPD. High pressure torsion (HPT) technique is one of the approaches available for improving the mechanical and wear properties of biomedical Ti materials. Accordingly, this article is designed to examine most recent state of the art scientific works related to the developments in mechanical properties and wear resistance of biomedical Ti materials processed by HPT. A comprehensive review in this area is systematically presented.

The effects of added elements, such as Co or Nb, on wear properties of high speed steel by powder metallurgy(PM-HSS) had been evaluated in previous paper. The wear properties of materials, in fact, have been a]so influenced by heat-treating conditions. In this paper, the effects of heat-treating conditions on wear properties of PM-HSS have been evaluated. The wear tests have been performed as same conditions as previous paper using PM-HSS(5%Co-1%Nb) heat-treated under different quenching and tempering temperature. The result of this paper shows that wear resistance of PM-HSS is improved with relatively high quenching temperature. However tempering temperature is not sensitve to the wear resistance in range of high quenching temperature. It may be deduced by the fact that the shear strength of matrix by strengthening mechanisms of quenching aging in addition to dispersion-hardening is improved.
When ceramics are used as the parts of an engine and a machine, the tribological properties are very important. For the preparation of the resistance material for wear applications by the method of Reaction-Bonded Sintering, metal silicon and carbon black are mixed up into SiC powder, and Al2O3 and Fe2O3 are put as an additive. As the general properties, the bending strength and water absortion are measured in the normal temperature and the phase changies are investigated with XRD. The property of the resistance for wear applications is measured with the amount of friction and wear, friction coefficient and maximum asperties. And, the surface of wear is observed with SEM. With the results of this study, the optimal mol ratio of Si : C and the suitable quantity of the mixture of SiC are 7 : 3 and 40 wt%, respectively. In the case of the addition of Al2O3 (2 wt%), the resistance for friction and wear applications is prominent. The bending strength showed the highest peak when Al2O3 (4 wt%) and Fe2O3 (4 wt%) were added. The properties of friction and wear were related with the propagation velocity of crack rather than the bending strength.

The demand for truck bus radial (TBR) tires with enhanced fuel efficiency and wear resistance have grown in recent years. In addition, as the issue of particulate matter and air pollution increases, efforts are being made to reduce the generation of particulate matter. In this study, the properties of epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) containing a silica-friendly functional group were evaluated by considering it as a base rubber and varying the silica ratio in this binary filler system. The results showed that the wear resistance of the NR/BR blend compound decreased as the silica ratio increased. In contrast, the ENR/BR blend compound exhibited an increase in wear resistance as the silica ratio was increased. In particular, the ENR-50/BR blend compound showed the best wear resistance due to the presence of several epoxide groups. Furthermore, we observed that for tan 𝛿 at 60℃, higher epoxide content resulted in the higher Tg of the rubber, indicating a higher tan 𝛿 at 60℃. On the other hand, it was confirmed that increasing the silica ratio decreased the value of tan 𝛿 at 60℃ in all compounds. In addition, we measured the amount of wear particulate matters generated from the compound wear. These measurements confirmed that in the binary filler system, regardless of the filler type, the quantity of the generated wear particulate matters as the filler-rubber interaction increased. In conclusion, the silica filled ENR/BR blend compound exhibited the lowest generation of wear particulate matters.

TiN coated films show a good mechanical properties, high thermal properties and wear, erosion and corrosion resistance and are widely used as a coating materials in tools, ornaments, parts and semiconductors. In spite of these good properties, the fracture of TiN coated films occur during use. The fracture of TiN thin films is related to their microstructure. Especially, the life of TiN coated layer is related to the texture of the TiN films. One researcher suggested that the corrosion and erosion resistance of the TiN thin films is related to a uniform and dense structure of films. In this study, we studied the relationships between textures and friction coefficient, erosion and corrosion in TiN coated films. The flatness of (115) texture surface of TiN thin films is flatter than that of (111) texture surface. The friction coefficient of (115) texture surface of TiN thin films is similar with that of (111) texture surface. The wear resistance of (115) texture surface of TiN thin films is better than that of (111) texture surface. The erosion and corrosion resistance of (115) texture surface of TiN thin films is better than that of (111) torture surface. As well as texture, the wear, erosion and corrosion of TiN thin films has to consider defects such as pinholes, cracks, surface roughness and open columnar structure. The life of TiN coated products is influenced by the properties of wear, erosion, and corrosion resistance of TiN thin films and is related to texture of TiN coated films, density of pinholes and cracks, density of structure, and surface flatness.
The wear resistance of Hyper-eutectic Al-Si alloy, have recently been noticed as a new automobile material, was investigated. For the purpose of developing wear resistant Al-Si alloy, some factors which attribute to wear resistance are examined as follows; refinement of primary Si particle during solidification, and effect of refinement on wear resistance and other mechanical properties. The most effective refinement was accomplished by adding both NaF and S, and this improve wear-resistance in abrasive wear type. The wear losses of specimens cast in metal mold were ruduced to 80% of those in sand mold. T6 heat treatment increases hardness, which resulted in reduction of wear loss about $3{\sim}18%$.
