레이디얼 피스톤 펌프의 효율 특성 연구 (A Characteristic Study of Efficiency in Radial Piston Pump)

  • Pump which is the fundamental device in the hydraulic system affects on overall system performance to a great deal. Such problems as leakage and solid friction loss become important in field applications, especially for the case of operation under high pressure and at high speed. So the research on this kind of subjects is necessary to improve the performance of hydraulic devices. A high pressure radial piston pump is analyzed here, which has a stationary cylinder block. It pumps hydraulic fluid by letting camring push a piston in a cylinder. Fluid leaks between the piston and cylinder so that it deteriorates the pump efficiency. Furthermore, the piston happens to touch the cylinder wall to increase the friction loss and wear. In this research, by means of FDA, volumetric, mechanical and overall efficiencies are observed by varying several design parameters and operation conditions. Design values or their trends are presented to improve these effciencies.

  • Leaf type foil bearings have been used successfully in many aerospace applications such as air cycle machines, turbocompressors and turboexpander. These applications are characterized by light loads, constant speeds and low to moderate temperatures. But, as system on start-up or shutdown, sliding contact between the shaft and foil surfaces cause wear. So, in present study, to understand pressure-flow characteristics and deformation of foil bearing, flow/structure interaction analysis was used. and using this method, 2D and 3D calculation was peformed for shape of foil bearing to know circumferential direction flow and leakage flow characteristics of axial direction.

  • KAERI has contrived 14 kinds of spacer grid shapes of its own since 1997 and applied for Korean and US patents. To date. KAERI has obtained US and Korean patents for 6 kinds of spacer grid shapes among them. Tn this study. performance test on two spacer grid shapes that are assumed to be the most effective candidates for the spacer grid of the next generation nuclear fuel in Korea was carried Qui through the mechanical/structural test and analysis. The test result has shown thai the performances of the candidates are better or not worse than that of the current spacer grid.

  • These days, most of new materials, which is in use widely as cutting process materials have a characteristic in common. That is hard cutting. So, it happens that hardness by cutting temperature. And hardness on cutting process has an effect on tool wear or life shortness of tools. To solve these problems hot-machining is proposed. When a material is heated, organization of material is soften. So cutting process becomes easy. When such a hot-machining method applies on drilling process and then heated material is processed, cutting force is less than usual drilling process cutting force. In this paper, when a material is heated, cutting force on drilling process is measured. It is decided that the best suitable temperature area. And it suggest that the better hot-machining condition as surface accuracy is measured.

  • One of the main causes of severe wear or crack initiation in wheel and rail is the contact stress due to wheel-rail contact. First, we obtain contact stress due to the rail mounting slope using the finite element method. Second, the shape design based on more reasonable contact stress analysis rather th~n a general Hertzian contact theory is investigated in order to reduce the contact stress. The optimum -design is performed using the simple 2-D finite element model and its results are verified by 311) finite element analysis.

  • Ultraprecision machining and MEMS technology have been taken more and more important position in machining of microparts. Micro endmilling is one of the prominent technology that has wide spectrum of application field ranging from macro parts to micro products. Also, the method of micro-grooving using micro endmilling is used widely owing to many merit, but has problems of precision and quality of products due to tool wear and tool fracture. This investigation deals with state monitoring using acoustic emission(AE) signal in the micro-grooving. Characteristic evaluation of AE raw signal, AE hit and frequency analysis for state monitoring is also presented in the paper.

  • Metal matrix composites with whisker reinforcements have significant potentials for demanding mechanical applications including defense, aerospace, and automotive industries. Especially metal matrix composites, which are reinforced with aluminum borate whisker, have been used leer the part of piston head in automobile because of good specific strength and wear resistance. In this study, AC4CH-based metal matrix composites with $Al_{18}$B$_{4}$ $O_{33}$ reinforcement have been produced using squeeze casting method, after T6 heat treatment, we evaluated fatigue life property of matrix and MMC composite and investigated fracture mechanism.m.

  • The characteristic of interface layer and the effect of bias voltage on the microstructure of c-BN films were studied in the microwave plasma hot filament C.V.D process. c-BN films were deposited on a high speed steel(SKH-51) substrate by hot filament CVD technique assisted with a microwave plasma to develop a high performance of resistance coating tool. c-BN films were obtained at a gas pressure of 20 Torr, vias voltage of 300 V and substrate temperature of $800^{\circ}C$ in $B_2H_6-NH_3-H_2$ gas system. It was found that a thin layer of hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN) phase exists at the interface between c-BN layer and substrate.

  • Head Disk Interface (HDI) in a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) has decreased to achieve high areal density. Thus, the contact between a slider and a disk becomes more important. The contact between the slider and the disk can cause severe wear and damage of both the slider and the disk. Especially, Touch Down (TD) that the contact occurs continuously and repeatedly is extremely dangerous. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the unstable bouncing vibration of the slider in head-disk interface. In this paper, we investigate the characteristic and causes of the Touch Down.

  • The effect of characteristic of surface roughness and roughness patterns on friction and sliding wear was studied experimentally under reciprocating boundary lubricant sliding conditions. The test was conducted with specimens which have various arithmetic mean value and roughness pattern under the condition of different normal load. The experimental results show that the friction coefficient is decreased because of oxidation mass and valley effect as the normal loads increasing It was found that the specimens with surface roughness with a transverally oriented pattern have a smaller firction coefficient than the other two roughness patterns under the condition of the roughness values of Ra=0.5 and Ra=0.2 .
