평면연삭에서 연삭력 변화와 숫돌수명 (Variation of Grinding Force and Wheel Life in Surface Grinding)

  • In the grinding process, the edge of shape is very important to evaluate the surface roughness and the precision of dimension. To keep precision of product, parameters with respect to the amount of wheel wear have to limit by grinding condition. In this paper, we measured variation of grinding force to seek the grinding characteristics by the amount of wheel wear in surface grinding. Also, we find out that how these condition give influence to wheel life.

  • The spacer, which is located between the bucket and the arm of an excavator, has a role in preventing damage to the excavator arm during excavation work. When the durability of the spacer is increased, the lifetime of the arm can be extended and the processing costs can be reduced. To increase the durability of the spacer, tungsten carbide (WC) coating was applied on the surface of a spacer using the plasma transferred arc (PTA) process. The confirm the durability, a wear test using a pin-on disk type of wear testing machine was done under the given conditions and the wear amount on the surface of a tested specimen was measured using reflective digital holography. The results were compared with that of ALPHA-STEP.

구상흑연주철의 피절삭성과 내마모성에 미치는 Boron 첨가의 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study for the Effects of Boron Addition on Machinability and Wear Resistance of Ductile Cast Iron)

  • It is very important to obtain high performance ductile iron by addition a small amount of alloying elements. In this study, to improve the characteristics of small piston ring casted from ductile iron melt a small amount of boron($0{\sim}0.008wt.%$) that is powerful carbide stabilizer was added in ductile iron, and inspected it`s effects on the microstructure, wear resistance, machinability and mechanical properties. The results obtained from this study are as follows. 1. As the amount of boron increased to 0.04wt.%, the machinability of ductile iron is increased, and if the amount is in excess of 0.04wt.% the machinability is decreased conversely. 2. The wear resistance of ductile iron is improved by boron addition. 3. The recommended ladle addition of boron amount ranges from 0.04wt.% to 0.06wt.% for the use of small piston ring.

유리섬유강화수지의 절삭특성 (On cutting characteristics of glass fiber reinforced plastic)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the cutting characteristics of glass-fiber rein- forced plastic (GFRP) by investigating the variation of cutting force and surface roughness, depending on the amount fo flank wear and cutting conditions. And a Taylor type tool life equation is derived using the regression analysis. The present study reveals that, 1. Taylor's eqquation can be applicable to GFRP nd the constants n (0.170-0.175) and C (53.7- 64.4) are smaller than those in cutting of steel. 2. Principal cutting force increases sharply with the increase of feed rate, but feed force and radial force are almost constant. This result is quite different from that of metal cutting. 3. Cutting forces ($F_P, \;F_Q, \;F_R$) increase with the increase of flank wear, and feed force especially increases sharply with the increase of flank wear. 4. Surface roughness changes very much along the circumference of the workpiece and the amount of flank wear has almost no effect on surface roughness.

X-ray영상과 CAD를 이용한 인공고관절의 마모 및 식립각 측정법 (Wear and Implantation Tilt Measurements using X-ray and CAD)

  • 고관절 시행에서 식립각도는 추후 환자의 운동범위나 힘의 분배조건에 따라 폴리에틸렌 라이너의 마모에도 영향을 미친다. 인공관절요소로부터 마모입자는 골괴사나 다른 생화학적으로 많은 합병증을 일으킨다. 이런 점에서 인공고관절에서 마모와 정렬각도를 수술 후 추시를 통해 측정하는 것은 중요하다. 특히 관절면의 마모를 측정하는 것은 그 량이 크지 않아 상당한 정밀도를 요구한다. 현재 널리 쓰이는 상용 소프트웨어는 재현성과 측정방법의 표준화가 되어 있지 않아 사용에 많은 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 일반 병원의 방사선촬영 환경에서 CAD만 추가로 구비하면 행할 수 있는 인공관절면 마모와 식립각 측정법을 제시한다. 인공관절만의 X-ray영상을 이용한 본 방법의 정확도와 정밀도 평가를 수행하였다. 또한 실제 인공고관절환자의 X-ray영상을 가지고 2년추시에 따른 마모와 식립각을 측정하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 CAD를 이용한 방법은 마모측정에서 정확도 0.06 mm, 정밀도 0.05 mm, 식립각은 $0.27^{\circ}$의 정밀도를 갖는다.

머신비전 시스템을 이용한 마이크로드릴 마멸의 상태감시 (Monitoring of Micro-Drill Wear by Using the Machine Vision System)

  • Micro-drill wear deteriorates accuracy and productivity of the micro components. In order to improve productivity and qualify of micro components, it is required to investigate micro-drill wear exactly. In this study, a machine vision system is proposed to measure the wear of micro-drills using a precision servo stage. Calibration experiments are conducted to compensate for the machine vision system. In this paper, worn volume, area and length are defined as wear amounts. Micro-drill wear is reconstructed as the 3D topography and the quantized wear amount by using the shape from focus (SFF) method and wear parameters. Experiments have been conducted with HSS twist micro-drills and SM45C carbon steel workpieces. Validity of the proposed machine vision system is confirmed through experiments.

윤활유 성질이 마모특성에 미치는 영향(제2보) (Effects of Tribological Characteristics on Lubricants Properties (The 2nd))

  • It was reviewed that the kinds of lubricating oil, viscosity, temperature and strength of materials affected the wear of the surface heat treatment. When lubricants is used under severe running conditions, their tribological characteristics are very important. We have studied the lubricating oil viscosity, kinds of additives and their amounts, and lubricating oil temperatures were changed. In order to study the effect of oil temperature on the wear of the surface, the temperature of the oil was changed for the same sample. It was shown from the test results that wear is not greatly affected by the amount of ZnDTP (Zinc dialkyl dithio phosphate) antiwear agent, but EP (Extreme pressure) additives are less effective against wear than ZnDTP additives. The viscosity of lubricating oil and its temperature greatly affect the wear of the surface. Combining all the wear data with those of the surface strength, it was observed that the higher the load, the lower the scratch of wear, and also in the case of the same running load, the lower the wear, the longer the life of the surface strength.

  • Herein, we present a numerical investigation of wear analysis of sliding systems with a constant speed subjected to Archard's wear law. For this investigation, we compared two methods: eigen-wear analysis and adaptive meshing technique. The eigen-wear analysis is advantageous to predict the evolution of contact pressure due to wear using the initial contact pressure and contact stiffness. The adaptive meshing technique in finite element analysis is employed to obtain transient wear behavior, which needs significant computational resources. From the eigen-wear analysis, we can determine the appropriate element size required for finite element analysis and the time increment required for wear evolution by a dimensionless variable above a certain value. Since the prediction of wear depends on the maximum contact pressure, the finite element model should have a reasonable representation of the maximum contact pressure. The maximum contact pressure and wear amount according to this dimensionless variable shows that the number of fine meshes in the contact area contributes more to the accuracy of the wear analysis, and the time increment is less sensitive when the number of contact nodes is significantly larger. The results derived from a two-dimensional wear model can be applied to a three-dimensional wear model.

치과보철물 재료의 마멸특성 (Wear Characteristics of Dental Prosthesis)

  • In this study, to examine the friction coefficient and wear amount of dental prosthesis, pin-on-disk type wear test were at room temperature. Vickers hardness and fracture toughness measurement of dental materials were preformed. Microscopic observations on worn surfaces of specimens were conducted by SEM. The friction coefficient of dental material was investigated according to weight and slinging velocity. dental material have investigated composed to nature teeth.

  • High speed machining experiment on the heat-treated mold steel(STAVAX and CALMAX of hardness HRc 53) is carried using TiAlN coated ball endmill. Tool life and wear characteristics under the various machining parameters and cooling methods are investigated. Effect of cooling method on life and wear of the tool was compared. For most cases, tool life was not determined by the amount of wear but by th chipping on the cutting edge. It is found that tool manufacturer's cutting parameters generally agrees with the results of this experiment.
