  • In this paper, it is designed mobile communication base station module type bandpass filter which is recently used coplanar waveguide in many way because of structural merit. Using Conductor-Backed Coplanar waveguide of Itoh, it is determined the value of impedance which had capable impedance value with selected H in 2.4 and proved the impedance of each sections. It use the commensurate line of $\lambda$/4, fixed a space of between two ground line and calculated the width of signal line. Because designed filter less than microstrip filter in space, it obtained excellent characteristic of 15dB throughout all passband and sharp cut-off characteristic.

  • In this paper, we have fabricated asymmetric Y-branch optical power splitters with various optical power splitting ratios by changing the width of one of the output waveguides using $Ag^+-Na^+$ ion change method in BK7 glass. The transmission characteristics of asymmetric Y-branch optical power splitters with different output waveguide width have been investigated using the finitedifference beam propagation method (FD-BPM). We have found the index of the channel waveguide formed by Ag+-Na+ ion change method in BK7 glass and have fabricated channel waveguides to examine the transmission characteristics of channel waveguide. And we have fabricated asymmetric Y-branch optical power splitters with output waveguide width from TEX>$4{\mu}m$ to $6{\mu}m$. /TEX>.

  • We present a useful design for a free access mat which supports two frequency bands of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The free access mat is a sheet-shaped waveguide which consists of a tightly coupled double-layered microstrip resonator array. It provides easy access for devices in short-range wireless communications. Interference is a common problem with conventional applications which use free space transmission. Our proposed wireless access system uses a subsidiary waveguide, the free access mat. Wireless devices are proximately coupled to the free access mat through which the coupled electromagnetic (EM) wave transmits. The arrival domain of the EM wave of an application is therefore limited to an area close to the free access mat. Wireless devices can be coupled to the free access mat at an arbitrary position without contact. We previously presented a free access mat for a single frequency band. This paper presents a free access mat for the two frequency bands of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The free access mat uses a ring patch resonator array which is easily excited by typical antennas and is resistant to interference. These characteristics are demonstrated by numerical simulation and confirmed by experiment.

  • This paper presents the design and fabrication of waveguide E-plane metal insert bandpass filter for milli-meter waves which is analyzed transmission characteristics by calculating the generalized scattering matrix using mode-matching method. The bandpass filter was fabricated to verify the proposed method by the WR-34 rectangular waveguide to operate in 30.085 ~ 30.885 GHz. The fabricated waveguide E-plane metal insert band- pass filter was established the fact that it is so adaptive for milli-meter waves due to the measured data closely consistent with the results of analysis using mode-matching method, that is, the maximum value of insertion loss is 0.8 dB and the return loss is below -15 dB.

  • In this paper, we report on the waveguide-to-microstrip transition with an inline structure for the millimeter band. The waveguide-to-microstrip transition comprises a probe, an inductive line, a ${\lambda}/4$ impedance transformer, and a 50-ohm microstrip line. For the transition design, we optimized the characteristic impedances and lengths of the component parts. The fabricated transition exhibits an insertion loss of 2.1 dB and an input/output return loss of below 13 dB at a millimeter band frequency of 94 GHz.

  • In this paper, the Gunn diode mount is experimentally designed for use in a W-band waveguide voltage controlled oscillator(VCO). The role of the Gunn diode mount is to match the low impedance of the Gunn diode to the high impedance of waveguide. Computer simulations of VCO characteristics such as center frequency, frequency tuning range, and output power are carried out for various values of disc diameter, disc height, post diameter, and utilized in the experimental optimization of the Gunn diode mount. The designed VCO shows excellent characteristics; 93.9 GHz center fiequency, 600 MHz frequency tuning range with $2{\%}$ linearity, 16 dBm output power.

  • In this paper, dual axes waveguide rotary joint, which operates at high power and has low loss characteristic, is designed and fabricated for a Ka-band millimeter-wave small radar. Its electrical performance is verified through the S-parameter at room temperature, high power and operation temperature test. Rotary joint functionally consists of the mode converter transforming rectangular waveguide into circular waveguide and the choke at the rotation part. At the configuration design, linking a fixed transmitter to an antenna rotating dual axes electrically for minimum loss and light weight body are considered. In Fc(center frequency)${\pm}500MHz$, the designed rotary joint has VSWR 1.5:1 below return loss, -2.0 dB above insertion loss. It is found that rotary joint characteristics is similar to design results.

  • The design procedure of a GaAs/AlGaAs semiconductor matrix optical switch is presented for a simplified tree architecture in the viewpoint of optical loss. A low loss, 0.537 dB/cm, pin type substrate is designed by considering the loss due to imputity doping at 1.3 $\mu$m wavelength. The operating voltage and the device length of a reversed ${\Delta}{\beta}$ electro-optic directional coupler(EODC) swith which is a cross-point device of the 4${\times}$4 matrix optical switch and the bending loss of rib waveguide are caculated as functions of waveguide parameters and bending parameters. There is an optimum bending radius for some waveguide parameters. It is recommened that higher optical confinement conditions such as wide waveguide width and higher rib-height should be chosen for structural parameters of a low loss and a process insensitive 4${\times}$4 matris optical switch. A 4${\times}$4 optical matrix switch which has a 3 dB loss and a 12 volt operating voltage is designed.

  • A compact Q-band waveguide-to-microstrip transition for UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) radiometer applications is presented. The key features of this transition are simplicity, compactness, easy matching, and lower sensitivity to the dimensions and fabrication tolerances. The simple E-plane patch-type design is insensitive to the backshort cavity enclosure and misalignment between the waveguide and microstrip substrate. The primary parameters are optimized using a three-dimensional(3D) electromagnetic simulator(ANSYS HFSS). It exhibited better than 20-dB return loss at mid-band frequencies with less than 1-dB insertion loss for the back-to-back transition, and a return loss better than 15 dB over the frequency range of 36 GHz to 42 GHz.

  • From the present paper researched about the Design of Image Rejection SSB Modulator for X-Band Monopulse RADAR using Waveguide Hybrid Coupler. Generally, SSB modulator mixes IF(RF) and LO signals, and then it converts to RF(IF) frequency band. In this case, in order to transmit one sideband from RF band, SSB modulator is demanded the removal of image and LO signal. The balanced mixer was designed using waveguide hybrid coupler and crystal mixer diode to mix LO and IF signal. And also the IF Amplifier was designed for IF(+) and IF(-) signal generation which have $90^{\circ}$ phase differences which are suitable in two crystal mixer diode inputs. In order to maintain a high electric reliability from high frequency band the waveguide and IF amplifier's case were manufactured with aluminum using deep brazing techniques. The test result of SSB modulator, LO and sideband signal rejection ratio were 14.2dB and 18.5dB respectively.
