The reasonable decision making procedure for conducting follow-up management of water-friendly riverfront have been proposed in the national streams when the use of the level of usage for facility becomes degraded. It consists of two part usage: the selection of destination and the follow-up strategy with the alternatives. Considering the water-friendly riverfront grade derived from prior research, Grade IV and V were selected as candidates, and if the economic utility became low, it should be selected as candidates for the follow-up management. In addition, the basic plan for follow-up management was reviewed and alternatives suitable for the strategy could be derived considering the need for the operation of water-friendly riverfront in target site. The prior study on the follow-up decision making process of the water-friendly riverfront has not yet been confirmed, but since the life cycle of such facilities become almost expired, systematic procedures are needed to enable the use of administrative procedures for users' convenience and safety.
The Address No.0 of Eco-friendly Architecture offers unique experience for those who visit the place to envisage the future architecture where nature, human and building exist in harmony. It is open to the general public including the students of elementary and secondary schools. This house has been built to provide opportunities for the general public to experience eco-friendly architecture. It's floor area is 42 pyung($140m^2$) and the overall site has the area of 180 pyung($600m^2$). The following illustrates some of its prominent features : ${\bullet}$ Remodeling of a traditional Korean residence ${\bullet}$ Application of passive solar systems ${\bullet}$ Use of clerestory windows and daylighting systems(washroom and machine room) ${\bullet}$ Operation of solar water heaters with flat plate collectors ${\bullet}$ Construction of Biotop(small ecological world) ${\bullet}$ Water circulation for Biotop by photovoltaic(150W) and wind power(400W) generation ${\bullet}$ Outdoor hot water supplied by all-glass evacuated solar tubes. Through this Address No.0 of Eco-friendly Architeture conclusions are as followings. 1. The array of tubes in collector has the best nice in that the number of tube is nine and the tilt angle is the latitude $+20^{\circ}$. 2. The thermal performance of the all-glass solar vacuum collector was excellent than of the flate-plate solar collector. 3. The adaption of new small wind power systems to buildings were proved to produce a profit if it is considered the expense of environment improvement and the wind speed increasing according to rise of building hight.
With the increase of the number of riverfront development projects an objective and systematized survey and assessment tool is required to understand and identify the characteristics and potentials of river environment for human uses. The purpose of this study was to develop an assessment system for the investigation and evaluation of the water-friendly environment and to examine its effectiveness by applying the system to the selected study sites. Literature reviews, expert consultation, and preliminary survey were conducted to select highly relevant indexes to evaluate water-friendliness in rivers and, as a result, an assessment system of ten items in four areas was established. The assessment system were applied to 139 reaches of six rivers including Bykgye Cheon, Seom River, Gap Cheon, Yudeng Cheon, Naesung Cheon, and Kumho River. The scores and grade of water-friendliness were calculated per rivers and reaches, and their differences were prominent according to urban river, rural river, mountainous area and city area. Bykgye Cheon and Naesung Cheon got high scores in visual quality and Kumho River and Gap Cheon in community needs and potential uses. The scores of each section in the same river can be used as a basic data for the selection of appropriate sites for the development of hydrophilic space. In addition, it is expected that identifying the characteristics of each river help establish an appropriate management plan for the river.
Nowadays, there are increasing demands of golf courses and it is necessary to make more golf courses than the present. To do this, we need to improve the environmental problems with the regional inhabitants, and it is said that the first thing to be considered in developing any golf course in Korea is to preserve the environment. In this context, the purpose of this study is to set forth several design factors to lessen the negative impacts which are accompanied with the development of golf courses. 1. The present conditions of golf courses in Korea Many new golf courses have come into being, particularly since the late 1980s, and now, in the year of 1997, over one hundred of golf courses are doing their business, yet the number of golf course is still less than required. So far, over a half of them have been made in the vicinity of Seoul on account of various reasons, and this has adversely affected on our natural environment. This unreasonable development of golf courses has caused serious water pollution, landslides and the other problems. Also, the topography of Korea is not good for golf courses. Although the demands of golf courses are increasing, the suitable sites for them are very limited, and therefore it is sometimes unavoidable to make golf courses on steep hills. Consequently, in designing golf courses in Korea, the most important thing is the balance between natural environment and artificial environment. 2.Eco-friendly golf course design factors 1) The concept of eco-friendly golf courses Ecologically sustainable and sound golf courses which are made by eco-friendly approaches 2)Basic conditions of eco-friendly golf courses (1)The most suitable sites (2) Conservation of existing ground as much as possible (3)Proper use of agricultural chemicals which have great impacts on the environment (4) Reasonable use of fertilizers (5) Developing a specialized fertilizer only for grass (6) Adaptation of organic agriculture (7) Improvement of grass sorts (8) Establishing reservoirs for purifying the water from golf courses 3) Eco-friendly golf courses (1) Location-Enough area /Gentle slope/Winding ground/Including lakes or streams /Not crossing wind's main direction Facing south or southeast /Suitable soIl for grass /Good drainage /Low level of underground water (2)Course layout and design -Consideration about existing contours as much as possible -Adaptation of Scotish design trend -Various holes' configuration -Consideration toward surrounding landscapes -Reducing grass areas -Giving buffer zones -Adapting computer methods in the process of site analysis and design (3) Eco-friendly considerations in constructing and managing golf courses -Protection of wildlife -Reuse of existing forests and preservation of topsoil -Renovation of old-fashioned courses -Reducing grass areas -Purification of water -Standization of management -Strict regulations against chemicals -Recycling organic materials -Through separation of the water inside golf courses and out of bounds -Getting proper construction works done in a due time 4.Eco-friendly considerations from a viewpoint of cultural environment 1) Well-matched landscape design and events planning 2) Implement of identifications and awarding systerns 3)Acknowledgement of superintendents' qualitications in the maintenance of golf courses 4)Increasing public golf courses and keeping good relationships with the neighbors near golf courses Key words: Pro-environmental development, Golf course.

In this study, the characteristics of polymer-modified mortar which include UM resin, eco-friendly resin, was studied for improving the durability of concrete. UM and cement mortar were mixed with a certain percentage. Eco-friendly UM resin polymer-modified mortar was evaluated by compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength, water absorption and chemical resistance experiments. The characteristics of eco-friendly UM resin polymer-modified mortar were evaluated by experiments. Performance of compressive strength and splitting tensile strength were decreasing. On the other hand, performance of flexural strength, water absorption and chemical resistance were increasing. Eco-friendly UM resin polymer-modified mortar reinforced concrete durability performance is excellent.

Hot-water extracted natural media were made from raw materials for mycelial culture of Pleurotus eryngii. Poplar sawdust, wheat bran and rice bran were used as substrates for hot water extraction. The mixed substrates of poplar sawdust, wheat bran, and rice bran with 50 : 20 : 30 (v/v/v, PWR523) and 50 : 30 : 20 (v/v/v, PWR532) were optimal for mycelial growth of P. eryngii, respectively. The hot-water extracted natural media from PWR523 and PWR532 showed a rapid mycelial growth and spawn running compared to PDA. There was no significant difference in mushroom yield when the mycelium grown on the hot-water extracted natural media was used as the inoculum source for producing fruit body.
The purpose of this study is to examine a monitoring method, management zones, and maintenance strategies for water friendly facilities in urban streams after the completion of ecological restoration projects. Maintenance monitoring items are composed of 'use space& facilities', 'trails& bike roads', 'access', and 'boards'. The evaluation standards of water friendly facilities are 'maintenance conditions', 'safety', and 'usage level' which are rated as 'good', 'moderate', and 'poor'. Through a field survey and evaluation of 15 stream sections in Jeonjucheon, the management levels of each water friendly facility are determined as 'priority maintenance', 'general maintenance', 'maintain/remove', and 'remove'. Based on the evaluation results, management zones and maintenance strategies are proposed for each stream section. As a results, the stream sections of J2, J3, J4, and J9 which have 5 to 9 facilities with 'priority maintenance' are determined as 'intensive management zone'. The stream sections of J5, J6, J7, J8, J11, and J14 which have 1 to 3 facilities with 'priority maintenance' are determined as 'regular management zone'. The stream sections of J1, J10, J12, J13, and J15 which have no facilities with 'priority maintenance' are determined as 'minimum management zone'. The process of monitoring & evaluation system and determining management zones can be applied to establish a systematic maintenance plan for water friendly facilities by participation of governance in the future.
This study has been conducted to perform the survey on the ecological systems, scenary, and water quality change for agriculturally purposed drainage channels constructed with the application of environment-friendly methods and thus to evaluate the environment-friendly redevelopment effects of them. The main results of this study are as follow: 1. The channels not looking good aesthetically before redevelopment had changed into graceful scenic views from the aspect of landscape architecture as natural-type gently waterside to the channel and naturally-looking water stream. In the village parks developed for the rest of residents, an enough view was secured and thus a wide prospect scope could be obtained. 2. The flora in the channels have increased to 35 families and 82 species from 19 families and 32 species before renovation. As the growth speed of them are slower than externally-brought plants, they can cause some risks to the stability of land slope, including scour by erosion. From that reason, it is necessary to adequately combine the species of the plants both natively growing there and externally-brought planted. 3. In case of water quality, it turned out that, from more than a year after redevelopment, plants began to take roots and the water quality improved. On the contrary, there have been some cases, partly found, that aggravated the quality of water due to the causes like as retention of floating matters by withered plants or plant bodies after the growth of plants in the channels under survey became active, and therefore it is judged that a periodic maintenance of waterways is needed. 4. In case of fishes, all species before renovation have revived, and the population and the number of species have increased after works the formation of puddles in the channels. In waterside grasslands, amphibia and reptiles have not only increased but also been diversified.
According to the construction of infrastructure for the water resource management services, the importance of the eco-friendly reservoir tank management is being spotlighted. In this paper, we proposed the eco-friendly reservoir tank management using prediction for improving the water quality and on-line managing efforts of reservoir tanks. The proposed method defined the context and environment of the reservoir tank and predicted the profited service according to the pump motion, the solar battery, the chemicals, the water level, the telephone line, and the modem using collaborative filtering. To evaluate the performance of the eco-friendly reservoir tank management system using prediction, we conducted sample T-tests so as to verify usefulness. This evaluation found that the difference of satisfaction by service was statistically meaningful, and showed high satisfaction. Accordingly, the satisfaction and the quality of services will be improved the efficient prediction by supporting the context information as well as the environment information.
