  • This paper examined the effect of water repellent type and addition among various factors on the deicing performance of cement mortar surface according to incorporation. As a result, the compressive strength of the water repellentcement mortar compared to the cement mortar, and the compressive strength of the oligomer-based water repellent mortar was higher than that of the monomer-based water repellent. The contact angle of the water-repellent mortar was increased compared to the additive mortar, and the oligomer water-repellent agent compared to the monomer-based water-repellent. As a result of measuring the ice formation time of cement mortar due to the mixing of the water repellent, the ice formation was delayed until 25 minutes for mortar to which the water repellent was added. the measurement of the ice attachment load mortar without water repellent with water repellentwhen the water repellent was added to mortar, deicing performance was increased.

  • Accurate and timely information on status and trends in the environment is necessary to shape sound water quality management policy and to implement water quality improvement programs efficiently. One of the most effective ways to communicate information on water quality trends to policy-makers, scientists, and the general public is with comprehensive water quality indices. The derivation and structure of a water quality index (WQI) for the classification of surface water quality is discussed. The WQI generally developed through the selection, transformation and weighting of determinants with rating curves based on legal standards and quality directives or guidelines. The representative pollutants should be included in the index, and the relationship between the quantity of these pollutants in the water and the resulting quality of the water should be based on scientific results. The WQI be simply and meaningfully formulated that nonscientifically trained users can easily become familiar with the framework of the system and use the output data to evaluate their own pollution problems.

  • Open surface water body extraction is gaining popularity in recent years due to its versatile applications. Multiple techniques are used for water detection based on applications. Different applications of Radar as LADAR, Ground-penetrating, synthetic aperture, and sounding radars are used to detect water. Shortwave infrared, thermal, optical, and multi-spectral sensors are widely used to detect water bodies. A stereo camera is another way to detect water and different methods are applied to the images of stereo cameras such as deep learning, machine learning, polarization, color variations, and descriptors are used to segment water and no water areas. The Satellite is also used at a high level to get water imagery and the captured imagery is processed using various methods such as features extraction, thresholding, entropy-based, and machine learning to find water on the surface. In this paper, we have summarized all the available methods to detect water areas. The main focus of this survey is on water detection especially in small patches or in small areas. The second aim of this survey is to detect water hazards for unmanned vehicles and off-sure navigation.

  • In this paper, effective thermal conductivities of water-based $Al_2O_3$-nanofluids with low concentration from 0.01 vol. % to 0.3 vol. % are experimentally obtained by transient hot wire method (THWM). The water-based $Al_2O_3$-nanofluids are manufactured by two-step method which is widely used. To examine suspension and dispersion characteristics of the water-based $Al_2O_3$-nanofluids, Zeta potential as well as transmission electron micrograph (TEM) is observed. We confirm the manufactured $Al_2O_3$-nanofluids have good suspension and dispersion. The effective thermal conductivities of the water-based $Al_2O_3$-nanofluids with low concentration are enhanced up to 1.64% compared with that of DI water at $21^{\circ}C$. In addition, experimental results are compared with theoretical results from Jang and Choi model.

  • Preparation for the simplified separation of chitosandoligosaccharides from enzymatic hydrolysate was investigated. Two different types of chitosan beads as substrate were prepared as organic-based bead by W/O emulsion method and water-based bead by alkaline treatement. The average size of organic-based bead was $200{\mu}m$, and that of water based beads were $4000{\mu}m$, $100{\mu}m$, $30{\mu}m$, in diameter respectively. Enzyme stability was maintained over 80% at PH 6 after 24 hours. The optimal condition for the production of chitosanoligosaccharides was at pH 6.0, $50^{\circ}C$ and 40U (200U/g-chitosan) According to final oligosaccharide concentration water-based bed showed the similar result with that of organic-based bead even through it had smaller surface area attacked by chitosanse than that of organic-based bead. It is probable that the structure of water-based chitosan bead was looser than that of organic-based bead so enzyme penetrated easily into the bead structure. For the oligosaccharide production versus surface area the different size of water-based beads was investigated, Maxiaml production yield was observed in the $30{\mu}m$ beads. Consequently the water-based chitosan bead was better than the organic-based bead in this reaction system.

  • To evaluate the biological water quality, diatom-based biological indices (DAIpo and TDI) were examined in the Sum-River and the Dal-stream. Having BOD concentrations below $2mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ in most sites, water quality of both rivers was good. The DAIpo and TDI values ranged from 29.8 to 91.4 and from 38.7 to 93.0 respectively. From the biological water quality assessment, DAIpo and TDI for both rivers displayed fair to fairly poor water quality levels. However, the two indices showed more polluted conditions than expected from the BOD vlaues. In addition, DAIpo, having wider range of differences, appears to be more sensitive to the change in water quality when compared to TDI values. Statistical analysis using principal component analysis showed that Nitzschia palea and Diatoma vulgare might not be the appropriate indicators due to their low correlations with other indicators.

  • Nature-based solutions (NBS) involved conservation or rehabilitation of natural ecosystems or the creation of natural processes in modified or artificial ecosystems to mimic natural processes for the improved management of water (UN-Water, 2018). This study investigated the relationship between microbial presence and survival to the pollutant treatment performance of seven different stormwater NBS managing urban stormwater runoff. In this study, seven different stormwater nature-based solution (NBS) was investigated to identify the relationship of microbial community to the pollutant removal performance of stormwater NBS. Based on this study, Proteobacteria was found to be the most dominant microorganism for all stormwater NBS and IS followed by Acidobacteria and Actinobacteria. Acidobacteria, Actinobacteria, Chloroflexi, Gemmatimonadetes, WS3, and AF234118_p were found to have high positive correlation to most pollutant removal efficiency of different stormwater NBS (r-value: 0.62 to 0.68). Using Proteobacteria and Acidobacteria count in stormwater NBS, equations predicting pollutant removal performance were also developed and may be used in minimizing the cost for stormevent monitoring to identify the pollutant removal performance of stormwater NBS.

  • One of the biggest dangers in the globe is water contamination. Water is a necessity for human survival. In most cities, the digging of borewells is restricted. In some cities, the borewell is allowed for only drinking water. Hence, the scarcity of drinking water is a vital issue for industries and villas. Most of the water sources in and around the cities are also polluted, and it will cause significant health issues. Real-time quality observation is necessary to guarantee a secure supply of drinking water. We offer a model of a low-cost system of monitoring real-time water quality using IoT to address this issue. The potential for supporting the real world has expanded with the introduction of IoT and other sensors. Multiple sensors make up the suggested system, which is utilized to identify the physical and chemical features of the water. Various sensors can measure the parameters such as temperature, pH, and turbidity. The core controller can process the values measured by sensors. An Arduino model is implemented in the core controller. The sensor data is forwarded to the cloud database using a WI-FI setup. The observed data will be transferred and stored in a cloud-based database for further processing. It wasn't easy to analyze the water quality every time. Hence, an Optimized Neural Network-based automation system identifies water quality from remote locations. The performance of the feed-forward neural network classifier is further enhanced with a hybrid GA- PSO algorithm. The optimized neural network outperforms water quality prediction applications and yields 91% accuracy. The accuracy of the developed model is increased by 20% because of optimizing network parameters compared to the traditional feed-forward neural network. Significant improvement in precision and recall is also evidenced in the proposed work.

  • Agricultural reservoir water quality simulation model (ARSIM-rev) was developed in this study for water quality simulation of a small and shallow agricultural reservoir with limited observed water quality data. Developed ARSIM-rev is a zero-dimensional water quality model because of little spatial differences in water quality between stations in a small and shallow agricultural reservoir. ARSIM-rev used same water quality reaction equations with WASP except for several equations, and daily based input parameters such as settling rate, release rate from sediment, and light extinction coefficient changed yearly based input parameters in ARSIM-rev. A number of pre- and post-processors were developed such as auto calibration and scenario analysis for ARSIM-rev. CE-QUAL-W2, WASP, and developed ARSIM-rev were applied to Mansu agricultural reservoir to evaluate model performance, and ARSIM-rev demonstrated similar model performance with CE-QUAL-W2 and WASP when low number of observed data was used for agricultural reservoir water quality simulation. Overall, developed ARSIM-rev was feasible for water quality simulation in a small and shallow agricultural reservoir with limited observed water quality data, and it can simulate agricultural reservoir water quality precisely enough like common water quality model such as CE-QUAL-W2 and WASP within a limited time.
