개의 신내 혈류에 미치는 Dopamine의 영향 (Influence of Dopamine on Intrarenal Blood Flow in Dog)

  • In order to certify the diuretic mechanism of dopamine, this study was performed in dog. The following results were obtained. Dopamine, when given intravenously, produced diuresis, and increased glomerular filtration rate (GFR), renal plasma flow (RPF), and amount of sodium excreted in urine. When infused directly into a renal artery, dopamine elicited a marked diuresis confined only to the infused side, with concomitant rises in osmolar clearance and sodium excretion as well as a slight increase in free water clearance. Simultaneously total renal plasma flow and medullary plasma flow increased markedly with a increase of glomerular filtration rate and renal plasma flow. Medullary concentration gradient of sodium also markedly lowered in the infused kidney. These changes were not observed during mannitol diuresis and renal action of dopamine were not apparent in dog pretreated with haloperidol. From the above experimental results, it is thought that dopamine, when given into a vien or infused directly into a renal artery, induces diuresis, and the mechanism of its action is due to dual actions which are hemodynamic effect along with glomerular filtraction rate, and the increased response in the medullary blood flow.

The System of Plasma Ignition for Coal-Dust and Water-Coal Fuels Ignition

  • In this paper a system of plasma ignition(SPI) which is applied for the ignition and stabilization of coal-dust fuel burning for decreasing fuel black oil consumption is described. The advantages of SPI are demonstrated, and the positive results of SPI which is operated at the thermal-clamping boilers installed in production and heating plants are described. The similar system was tested in demonstration and industrial installations to confirm the results. The improvement of economical, operating and ecological performances of the boiler are shown.

LOW TEMPERATURE DIAMOND GROWTH USING MICROWAVE PLASMA CVD

  • Diamond films were grown at lower temperatures (630-813K) on Si, Al (1100P), and Al-Si(8A, 8B, BC) alloy substrates using improved microwave plasma CVD apparatus in a mixed methane and hydrogen plasma. Improved microwave plasma CVD apparatus equipped water cooled substrate holder and the substrates were set up lower position than bottom line of the applicator waveguide. When the methane concentration was high and growth was conducted at lower pressures the diamond films were synthesized. Moreover the deposits on the scratched substrates formed flat surfaces consisting of fine grains. XRD results, the deposits were identified to cubic diamond. An analysis using Raman spectroscopy, further confirmed that diamond films deposited on the Si substrates were high quality. The deposits on the Al substrates, in contrast, contained amorphous carbon. While the quality of the deposits on the Al-Si substrates were differed with the substrate alloys.

Fenofibrate Reduces Age-related Hypercholesterolemia in Normal Rats on a Standard Diet

  • Plasma cholesterol is increased in normal aging in both rodents and humans. This is associated with reduced elimination of cholesterol and decreased receptor-mediated clearance of plasma low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. The aims of this study were: (1) to determine age-related changes in plasma lipid profiles, and (2) to determine the effect of fenofibrate, an activator of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor alpha (PPAR $\alpha$), on plasma lipid profiles in normal rats on a standard diet. Male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats (n=15) were fed standard chow and water from 10 to 25 weeks of age. During that period, we measured daily food intake, body weight, fasting and random blood glucose levels, plasma total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), and free fatty acid (FFA) levels. At 20 weeks of age, all rats were randomly divided into two groups: a fenofibrate group (in which rats were gavaged with 300 mg/kg/day of fenofibrate) and a control group (gavaged with water). Fenofibrate treatment lasted 5 weeks. There were no significant changes in daily food intake, blood glucose, and plasma TG level with age. Body weight, plasma TC, and FFA levels were significantly increased with age. Fenofibrate significantly decreased plasma concentrations of TC and FFA, which had been increased with age. However, fenofibrate did not influence the plasma concentration of TG, which had not increased with age. These results suggest that fenofibrate might have a novel role in preventing age-related hypercholesterolemia in SD rats on a normal diet.

Mechanisms Controlling Feed Intake in Large-type Goats Fed on Dry Forage

  • An intracerebroventricular (ICV) infusion of somatostatin 1-28 (SRIF) was used as a thirst-controlling peptide antagonist to investigate whether or not thirst-controlling peptides are involved in the significant decrease in feed intake during the initial stages of feeding large-type goats on dry forage. A continuous ICV infusion of SRIF was conducted at a small dose of $4{\mu}g$ ml/h for 27 h from day 1 to day 2. Goats (n = 5) were fed roughly crushed alfalfa hay cubes for 2 h twice daily and water was given ad libitum. Feed intake was measured during ICV infusion of artificial cerebrospinal fluid (ACSF) and SRIF. The feed intake during SRIF infusion increased significantly compared to that during ACSF infusion. In comparison to the ACSF treatment, plasma osmolality during the SRIF treatment significantly decreased during the first half of the 2 h feeding period. The factor causing the decrease in plasma osmolality during the ICV infusion of SRIF was a decrease in plasma Na, K, Cl, and Mg concentrations. In comparison to the ACSF infusion treatment, parotid saliva secretion volumes during the 2 h feeding period in the SRIF infusion treatment were significantly larger. While there was no significant difference in cumulative water intake (thirst levels) between the SRIF and the ACSF treatments upon conclusion of the 2 h feeding period, based on the plasma osmolality results it is thought that thirst level increases brought about by alfalfa hay cube feeding in the first half of the feeding period were reduced. It is thought that the somatostatin-induced increases in feed intake during the 2 h feeding period in the present experiment were caused by decreases in plasma osmolality brought about by the somatostatin infusion. As a result, it is suggested that the significant decrease in feed intake during the initial stages of feeding in large-type goats given roughly crushed alfalfa hay cubes, was due to the actions of thirst-controlling peptides.

  • 연소 배기가스 중의 수분, 탄화수소 및 CO가 저온 플라즈마 및 $NH_{3}$ SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction)공정이 복합된 탈질공정에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구가 수행되었다. 실험결과 일반적인 SCR 반응에 비해 매우 빠른 반응속도를 갖는 fast SCR 반응은 $150{\sim}200^{\circ}C$의 저온조건에서 탈질율의 상승을 가져다주지만, 처리가스 중에 탄화수소가 있는 경우 fast SCR 반응의 역할이 상당히 감소되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 저온 플라즈마 반응기에서 부분산화반응을 통해 탄화수소 중 일부가 알데히드로 전환되며, 알데히드는 fast SCR 반응에 있어 중요한 변수인 $NO_{2}/NO_{x}$ 비율에 영향을 주기 때문인 것으로 설명되었다. 한편, 수분 및 CO가 fast SCR 반응에 미치는 영향은 탄화수소에 비해 상대적으로 적음을 확인할 수 있었다.

다공성 세라믹관내에서 생성되는 수중 유전체 장벽 방전 플라즈마를 이용한 아나톡신-a의 분해 (Decomposition of Aqueous Anatoxin-a Using Underwater Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Created in a Porous Ceramic Tube)

  • This work investigated the decomposition of aqueous anatoxin-a originated from cyanobacteria using an underwater dielectric barrier discharge plasma system based on a porous ceramic tube and an alternating current (AC) high voltage. Plasmatic gas generated inside the porous ceramic tube was uniformly dispersed in the form of numerous bubbles into the aqueous solution through the micro-pores of the ceramic tube, which allowed an effective contact between the plasmatic gas and the aqueous anatoxin-a solution. Effect of applied voltage, treatment time and the coexistence of nutrients such as $NO_3{^-}$, $H_2PO_4{^-}$ and glucose on the decomposition of anatoxin-a was examined. Chemical analyses of the plasma-treated anatoxin-a solution using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and ion chromatography (IC) were performed to elucidate the mineralization mechanisms. Increasing the voltage improved the anatoxin-a decomposition efficiency due to the increased discharge power, but the energy required to remove a given amount of anatoxin-a was similar, regardless of the voltage. At an applied voltage of 17.2 kV (oxygen flow rate: $1.0L\;min^{-1}$), anatoxin-a at an initial concentration of $1mg\;L^{-1}$ (volume: 0.5 L) was successfully treated within 3 min. The chemical analyses using LC-MS and IC suggested that the intermediates with molecular weights of 123~161 produced by the attack of plasma-induced reactive species on anatoxin-a molecule were further oxidized to stable compounds such as acetic acid, formic acid and oxalic acid.

청상보하탕(淸上補下湯) 전탕액(煎湯液)이 가토(家兎) 혈장(血漿) Cortisol 농도(濃度) 및 동맥혈(動脈血) $PO_2,\;PCO_2$에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of Chung Sang Bo Ha Tang Water Extract on the Plasma Cortisol Concentration, Arterial Blood $PO_2$ and $PCO_2,$ in the Rabbit)

  • The following results were obtained from the observation on the change of plasma cortisol concentration and arterial blood $PO_2,\;PCO_2$ in the experiment of intravenous and oral administration of Chung Sang Bo Ha Tang Water Extract in the rabbit. 1. In intravenous administration, the plasma cortisol conce-ntration increased significantly about 2 hours after with a dose of $0.2m{\ell}/kg$, while the case of $0.4m{\ell}/kg$ reveals this significant increase of concentration about 3 hours after. 2. In oral administration, a significant increase of the plasma cortisol concentration was shown about 2 and 4 hours after with a dose of $1.2m{\ell}/kg$, on the other hand, an increase of concentration was shown at each hour in the case of $0.2m{\ell}/kg$, but it was not significant. 3. In oral administration, $PO_2$ in arterial blood increased significantly in the case of $0.2m{\ell}/kg$, and both the case of $0.1m{\ell}/kg$ and that of $0.2m{\ell}/kg$ gave a significant decrease of $PCO_2$ in arterial blood. With these results, it is verified that Chung Sang Bo Ha Tang has therapeutic effects on JISU(止嗽), JEONG CHEON(定喘), GEO DAM(祛痰) because intravenous and oral administration of it increases the plasma cortisol concentration, However, in the examination of $PO_2$ and $PCO_2$ in arterial blood, any remarkable result was not obtained.
