Effects of Feeding Aspergillus oryzae Inoculant Food-waste Diets on Performance and Egg Quality in Laying Hens (Aspergillus oryzae 접종 잔반사료가 산란계의 생산성과 계란의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the effect of dried food-waste diets (FW) fermented by Aspergillus oryzae (AEW), on egg Production and egg qualify in laying hens. One hundred sixty eight laying hens, 50 week old, ISA-Brown wtrain were randomly distributed into 7 treatments with 3 relpicates of 8 birds per replicate and fed with standards laying hen diet replaced with FW and AFW at die=rent level Basal Diet, 25, 10, $75\%$, respectively. There was a significant decrease in feed intake for FW $50\%$ diet and egg Production was statistically lower in all W diet treatments(p<0.05). Water consumption was increased as the replacement increased. Egg weight, egg shell thickness and strength were similar among treatments. However, egg yolk color and Haugh unit showed distinct differences when W were added to their diets(p<0.05). No difference was observed in egg yolk cholesterol. It seems that FW diet could decrease the egg Production, but would be able to improve egg Quality. From this results, AO seemed applicable to laying hen diet as supplements.

The Effect of Horseradish Powder and Mushroom waste in Fattening Pig Diet on Odorous Compound Concentration from Slurry (고추냉이와 버섯폐배지 첨가 비육돈사료가 슬러리의 악취물질 농도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was to performed to investigate the effect of horseradish powder and mushroom waste in fattening pig diet on odorous compound concentration from slurry. Twenty fattening boars [Landrace${\times}$Yorkshire) ${\times}$ Duroc] weighing an average body weight of $78.4{\pm}8.88$ kg were randomly assigned to one of 4 treatments (control, horseradish 0.03%, mushroom waste 0.5%, and combination; horseradish 0.03% + mushroom waste 0.5%). This experiment was a randomized complete block (RCB) design using 5 pigs per treatment with 1 pig per metabolizable cage. Pigs were fed experimental diet (amount proportional to 3% of their body weight) twice a day (09:00 and 16:00) for 7 d after having 14 d adaptation period. Experimental diets were mixed with water by 1:2.5 v/v. Odorous compounds in slurry including acetate, propionate, butyrate, trans fatty acid isomers were not different (P>0.05) among treatments. There was no difference (P>0.05) in the levels of phenol compounds including phenol and p-cresol in slurry among treatments. Concentration of indole was lower (P<0.05) in horseradish group compared with others. Skatole level was highest in control and horseradish group, middle in mushroom waste group, and lowest in combination group (P<0.05). Concentration of indole compounds was lowest (P<0.05) in combination group. Data from our current study suggest that indole compounds in slurry can be reduced by administrating pigs with 0.03% horseradish powder and 0.5% mushroom waste in their diet.

  • Lead (Pb) exposure during development can produce neurological deficits. In this study, the effect of Pb exposure during neonatal development via lactation on anxiety of brain function was investigated. Long-Evans strain rats were raised through two generations. At the birth of the second generation, the dams were subdivided into two groups and supplied drinking water containing either $0.2\%$ Pb (Pb-treated group) or sodium (Na, Control group) acetate until weaning. Rats were sacrificed at 3 (weaning) and 11 weeks (maturity) for brain Pb and fatty acid analysis. Motor activity and elevated plus maze tests were initiated at 9 weeks. The brains in the Pb-treated group at weaning and maturity contained 1486$\pm$98 and $270{\pm}46$ ng Pb/g, respectively The control group showed the background level of Pb ($3.7{\pm}1.0_{ng}$ Pb/g) in both ages. The alterations in brain fatty acid composition induced by Pb exposure were more evident in 3 wks old than 11 wks old. For example, in 3 wks old, the percentages of $18:2_{n-6}$, $20:2_{n-6}$ and $18:2_{n-6}$ were decreased in the Pb-treated group with an increase in $20:4_{n-6}$ In motor activity test, there was a tendency of hyperactivity in the Pb-treated group compared with the control group but the difference was not significant. In elevated plus maze test, the Pb-treated group showed fewer numbers of visits to the open arms (P < 0.05), indicating that Pb exposure may lead to anxiogenic effect.

Effect of Solvents Washing on Chemical and Physical Properties of Dried Soymilk Residue (용매처리에 의해 건조(乾燥)된 두유(豆乳)비지의 이화학적 성질(性質)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • Soymilk residue was washed separately with acetone, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol and n-hexane, and then dried at $45^{\circ}C$. The dried residues were evaluated for drying rate, color and chemical and functional properties. Washing with acetone resulted in the shortest drying time (1hr) and the highest in protein content (48.8%) and in Hunter 'L' value. The dried residues after treatment with acetone and alcohols showed relatively high values of 4.3-4.7g/g and 8.5-8.7g/g in oil and water absorption, respectively. Addition of the acetone treated residue to wheat flour at a level of 10% affected little in Amylograph viscosity while those treated with other solvents caused a significant decrease in the viscosity.

A Study on the Volatile Change of Essential Oils Addition on to the Vegetable Fatty Acid Hard Soap (식물성 지방산 고형비누에 첨가된 에센셜오일의 휘발성 변화에 대한 연구)

  • In the saponification to manufacture plant fatty acid hard soap, the drying process is required for its water evaporation and hardness. This study mixed it with essential oil(E.O) with high volatility instead of adding synthetic flavor. And it comparatively observed the duration of flavor changing to the additive ($TiO_2$) and the drying period of the major flavor component (Linalool, Linalyl acetate) in the essential oil (Lavender E.O) contained in the soap during the soap manufacture by using GC-MS. Advanced researches have mostly dealt with the utility of plant hard soap, and those related with the volatility of flavor have been hardly conducted. Regarding the volatility of linalool contained in the soap, the soap mixed with $TiO_2$ showed a higher reduction ratio up to the 12th week; however, at the point of the 20th week, it reduced to a similar level. Although Linalyl acetate did indicate a slight difference according to the mixture of $TiO_2$, the volatility was shown similar up to the point of the 20th week. During the 20 weeks of drying, the residual rate of linalool was found to be higher than that of Linalyl acetate regardless of the mixture of $TiO_2$. It has been found that the flavor component of lavender essential oil with the duration of two or so days at the room temperature remains for 20 weeks (or 5 months) when it is manufactured through the mixture of plant fatty acid hard soap.

A study on the relationship between Schmidt Hammer's 'R' and bedrock microforms (기반암 하상 미지형과 슈미트 해머 반발 값과의 관계에 대한 연구)

  • Physical strength of the rock is the most important factor of resistance to erosion and has been measured through various way. Bedrock microforms, like potholes and grooves, are the forms sculpted by the erosional processes of flow and the location and morphology are strongly affected by the differential erosion. It also assumed that the physical strength of the rock controls the erosion rate and mode of erosion. The schmidt hammer has been used to measure the rock strength in the field for the geomorphological research. To find the relationship between the rock strength and microforms, Schmidt hammer's R(rebound) were measured in the Baeksuktan, middle reach of Gilancheon, Cheongsong, Gyungsangbuk do. The overall values of rebound of the local sandstone showed over 65 in most cases, so it can be regarded as 'very strong'. It is found that the rebound values of the rock surface decreased towards current water level. It also, however, found that there was no systematic differences in rebound values among the topographically high and lows in the bedrock surface. There was no statistically significant difference in rebound values of the area with well developed microforms and others. The values of R from the exposed faces and inside of the microforms are similar. In the case of conglomerate, the part with the gravel showed higher values that the parts with sands. The rebound values are decreased near of(<1cm) the geological discontinuities(including joint and faults), so this line of weakness could be the point of initiation of active erosion to form microforms. However there is large variations in rebound values within this part. It also should be mentioned that topological relation between the strike of the geologic discontinuities and flow direction looks control the mode of erosional processes.

Threshold Condition for Exclusion of Riprap into Bypass Pipe (저층수 배출관에 유입된 사석의 배제 한계조건)

  • One of the most serious problems with concrete small dams or barriers installed in small/median rivers is the deposit of sediments, especially, in Korea. An effective way to discharge such sediments to downstream is to construct a bypass pipe under the river bed. However, efficiency may become lowered if ripraps are entered into the bypass pipe. Therefore, in this study, we derived the threshold condition for the exclusion of ripraps from the bypass pipe using 3D numerical analysis. Upstream flow of the small dam was assumed to be stationary, and the energy concept was applied to the control volume containing the bypass pipe and its periphery. As a result, when the ratio of the water level difference between upstream and downstream to the diameter of the riprap was approximately equal to 1.2, the threshold condition for exclusion of the stones or riprap from the bypass pipe was affirmatively determined. If the characteristics of the adsorptive sediment adversely affecting the river environment in the future would be taken into account, results from this study are expected to put to practical use in the management of concrete small dam with bypass pipe system.

Comparison of the growth performance, nutrient digestibility, fecal microflora, blood profiles, and meat quality of broilers, Korean native chickens and white semi broilers under an identical breeding environment

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the growth performance, nutrient digestibility, fecal microflora, blood profiles and meat quality of broilers, Korean native chickens and white semi broilers under identical feeding conditions. Sixty 1-d chicks of each type were randomly placed into 12 pens per cage (5 chicks per cage) and fed commercial diets for 28, 49, and 28 days, respectively. The broilers showed a significantly higher (p < 0.05) growth performance from 0 to 4 weeks compared with the other types. Korean native chickens had a significantly higher (p < 0.05) digestibility of dry matter and nitrogen than that of the other species. The blood glucose was significantly higher in the Korean native chickens compared to the other species, and the blood cholesterol was significantly lower. The Lactobacillus content in Korean native chickens was significantly higher (p < 0.05) compared to the other species, and the E. coli content in the broilers was significantly higher (p < 0.05) than in the Korean native chickens and white semi broilers. In terms of meat quality, the breast meat of the broilers had a high water content and pH level. The breast meat of the white semi broilers had a significantly lower (p < 0.05) shear force than that of the other species. In conclusion, there was an interspecific physiological difference due to the age and body weight of the chickens. The broilers had a higher growth performance and meat quality compared to the Korean native chickens and white semi broilers.

Numerical Simulation of Wave Pressure Acting on Caisson and Wave Characteristics near Tip of Composite Breakwater (for One Directional Irregular Waves) (혼성방파제 케이슨에 작용하는 파압과 선단 주변에서 파랑특성에 관한 수치모의(일방향불규칙파에 대해))

  • In the previous study, both the wave characteristics at the tip of composite breakwater and on caisson were investigated by applying olaFlow numerical model of three-dimensional regular waves. In this paper, the same numerical model and layout/shape of composite breakwater as applied the previous study under the action of one directional irregular waves were used to analyze two and three-dimensional spatial change of wave force including the impulsive breaking wave pressure applied to trunk of breakwater, the effect of rear region, and the occurrence of diffracted waves at the tip of caisson located on the high crested rubble mound. In addition, the frequency spectrum, mean significant wave height, mean horizontal velocity, and mean turbulent kinetic energy through the numerical analysis were studied. In conclusion, the larger wave pressure occurs at the front wall of caisson around the still water level than the original design conditions when it generates the shock-crushing wave pressure in three-dimensional analysis condition. Which was not occurred by two-dimensional analysis. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the wave pressure distribution at the caisson changes along the length of breakwater when the same significant incident wave was applied to the caisson. Although there is difference in magnitude, but its variation shows the similar tendency with the case of previous study.

A Study on Analysis of Freshwater-saltwater Interface in the Aquifer around Hwajinpo Lagoon on the Eastern Coast of Korea (동해안 화진포 석호 주변 대수층 내 담수-염수 경계면 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Hwajinpo Lagoon, located on the eastern coast of Korea, is a unique environment where freshwater and saltwater are mixed. Systematic management of the lagoon is required because it is a biodiversity-rich and area of high conservation value. The existing environment of the lagoon was evaluated by identifying the distribution of the groundwater level and groundwater flow characteristics. In addition, hydrogeochemical fluctuations were analyzed to determine the effect of seawater intrusion into the aquifer. The results demonstrate that the freshwater-saltwater interface is distributed throughout the aquifer and rises when water of the lagoon evaporates due to prolonged periods of low rainfall and high temperature, thereby increasing the possibility of seawater inflow through groundwater. As for the ionic delta properties (difference between the measured and theoretical concentration of mixed waters), it was estimated that the cation-exchange and precipitation reactions occurred in the aquifer due to seawater intrusion. The ratio of seawater mixed at each point was calculated, using oxygen isotopes and chloride as tracers, resulting in an average of 0.3 and a maximum of 0.87. The overall seawater mixing ratio appears to be distributed according to the distance from the coast. However, some of the results were deviated from the theoretical expectations and reflected the characteristics of the nearby aquifers. Further research on seasonal changes and simulation of seawater intrusion mechanisms is required for specific analysis.
