The research assesses the performance of the water-to-water heat pump system installed in Cheongju water treatment plant for cooling and heating ventilation. In summer season monthly averaged COP is ranged from 3.85 to 4.56 according to the water source temperature, and the performance is increased as the raw water temperature is dropped. While, heating performance is increased for the high temperature water source, and the monthly averaged COP is changed from 2.92 to 3.82. The correlation of the water source temperature and the heat pump performance shows a linear tendency by the simple regression of average data. In heating, the COP of heat pump system linearly rises according to the water source temperature. In comparison, the COP in cooling linearly reduces as the raw water temperature is raised. The goodness of fit at the simple regression shows the coefficient of determination 82% in cooling, 46% in heating. The electric cost of water-to-water heat pump is reduced by 40% compared to that of air source heat pump.

To analyze and evaluate the performance of developing air to water multi heat pump, the heat pump was installed and tested at low energy house in Daejeon, korea. Heating capacity of heat pump is 16.5KW and cooling capacity is 14.0KW. Space heating/cooling, floor heating and hot water is available. The results performance evaluation of heat pump in lab test showed that the coefficient of performance (cop) was 3.75, and heating capacity was 16.0KW in ambient temperature $7^{\circ}C$. Also at ambient temperature $-15^{\circ}C$, the COP was 1.69. At a low energy house, floor heating is controled by a floor heating water temperature and a room temperature. The COP of heat pump is decreased with frequent on/off operation for controlling of floor heating water temperature.
In this study, the performance of the simultaneous heating & cooling water making system using R134a was investigated by simulation. The most important effect upon heating COP was intermediate pressure depending on input water temperature. With the input water temperature of $10^{\circ}C\;and\;20^{\circ}C$, optimum intermediate pressure were 923 and 1040kPa, respectively. At that optimum intermediate pressure, the maximum heating COP of the system operated between $0^{\circ}C$ evaporating temperature and $70^{\circ}C$ condensing temperature were 4.15 and 3.83. With installation of the subcoolers in high or low pressure section, the system COP was increased by reducing the refrigerant mass flow rate. Under the optimum pressure and $10^{\circ}C$ input water temperature, it was found that heating COP was maximized when the low-subcooler and high-subcooler capacity rate were taken by 14% and 13%, respectively.

Most hot water heating valves for apartments are constant-flow types, which limit the flow rate through an individual household for even distribution of heating water to other households. The constant-flow type is implemented by an on-off control. As a result, heating water is supplied intermittently and hence, indoor air temperature also fluctuates. Returning water temperature is also high, which reduces energy efficiency. To implement continuous feedback control, the indoor temperature dynamics was simulated to fit a measured temperature history by a state-of-the-art physical model. From the model, it was found that the most important disturbance is outdoor temperature and its effect on indoor temperature lasts about an hour. To cope with the slow response and the significant disturbance, a prediction control with proportional feedback is proposed. The control was found to be successful in implementing continuous heating water flow and improved indoor temperature control.

Radiant floor heating systems with capillary tubes are energy saving systems in which hot water is circulated into capillary tube with a small diameter. In this study, the heating performance of capillary tube system is investigated in an experimental study and a simulation model. The results of the study showed that, the capillary tube radiant floor heating system maintains a more stable floor surface temperature in comparison a PB pipe system. In terms of energy consumption, the capillary tube radiant floor heating system proved to be more efficient than the PB pipe heating system at $40^{\circ}C$ of low temperature hot water supply. The difference between water temperature and room temperature can be held low for heating which saves energy. Low temperature radiant floor heating system with capillary tubes have significant advantages such as health improvement, low energy cost, optimum use of heat source(boiler) and higher operational efficiency.
A common approach to achieve better thermal comfort with hydronic radiant floor heating system is supply water temperature control. This is the control method through which supply water temperature is varied with outdoor temperature. In this study, a comprehensive, yet simple calculation method to find optimum supply water temperature is evaluated by combining heat loss from the building and heat emission from the hydronic radiant floor heating system. And then the control performance of suggested calculation method is confirmed through experiment. It is shown that indoor air temperature is stably maintained around the set point.
This paper describes an experimental study on efficiency of solar collector in solar water heating system connected to hourly water heating load. In general, the functional form of solar efficiency is expressed as a function of fluid temperature entering solar collector, ambient temperature, and solar irradiance. When energy saving from solar heating of water heating system is analyzed on along-term basis such as one year with given solar irradiance data, simplified analysis is more convenient han detailed system simulation for quick assessment. However, the functional form of the efficiency is not convenient for approximately simplified energy analysis because the inlet temperature can be obtained through a detailed system simulation. In the study, solar collector efficiency is obtained with various daily water heating load sand daily solar irradiance using experimental tests. The study also considers large residential buildings such as apartment buildings for application of solar water heating systems. From test results, it is found that daily solar collector efficiency is proportional to daily water heating loads and daily solar irradiance. The data obtained from the study can be utilized to find a functional relation between daily solar irradiance and daily heating load in stead of collector inlet temperature for application of solar collector efficiency to long-term approximated energy analysis of solar heating system.
Heating and cooling performance has been analyzed for the water-source heat pump system using raw water from Daechung reservoir. During heating operation from March to May, water temperature is not good condition for a heat source due to the higher atmospheric temperature. Avearged heating load ratio is only 14.3%, and the averaged unit COP and system COP are estimated to be 2.46 and 2.15 respectively. The COP is affected considerably by the water temperature, and the unit COP is increased from 2.16 at $5^{\circ}C$ to 2.95 at $11^{\circ}C$. Cooling performance is analyzed with the measured data from June to August. During cooling operation, raw water has lower temperature by 4. $5^{\circ}C{\sim}4.7^{\circ}C$ than the atmosphere. The load ratio is 39.2%, and the averaged unit COP and system COP are estimated to be 7.25 and 6.13 respectively. The heating COP is affected by the load ratio rather than water temperature. The COP is increased for 20%~40% load ratio, while is decreased for 40%~60% load ratio. It is estimated that the compressor operation combination for 3 (two constant speed and one inverter) compressors is changed for the load ratio.

Energy analysis for the hot water heating control system of apartment house complex is accomplished by computer simulation. Mathematical model of a boiler, pipe network and a unit-house is developed. The effects of heating control methods on the heating performance and energy consumption of the system are investigated. The heating control methods considered in this study are a continuous heating control, and on-off heating control and an intermittent heating control methods. For each control method, the effects of an outdoor temperature, indoor temperature sensing position and the capacities of the boilers and circulating pumps on the heating performance and energy consumption are obtained and "the best" control method is recommended.commended.

The objective of this study is to investigate the influence on the heating performance for a water-to-water 10RT ground source heat pump by using the water switching and refrigerant switching method. The test of water-to-water ground source heat pump was measured by varying the compressor speed, load side inlet temperature, and ground heat source side temperature. The heating capacity and COP of the heat pump increased with increasing ground heat source temperature. As a result, compared to a refrigerant switching method, the water switching method with counter flow improves the heating capacity and COP by approximately 5% in average, respectively.
