In this study, a System Dynamics (SD) simulation model for the efficient operations of an industrial water supply system was developed by investigating the feedback loop mechanisms involved in the operations of the system. The system was modeled so that as demand is determined the water supply quantity of intake pumping stations and dams are allocated. The main feedback loop showed that many variables such as the combinations of pump operation, unit electric power(kWh/$m^3$), unit electric power costs(won/$m^3$), water level of water way tunnel, suction pressure and discharge of pumping station, and tank and service reservoir water level had causal effects and produced results depending on their causal relationship. The configurations of the model included an intake pumping station model, water way tunnel model, pumping station model (including the tank and service reservoir water level control model), and unit electric power model. The model was verified using the data from the case study industrial water supply system that consisted of a water treatment plant, two pumping stations and four dams with an annual energy costs of 5 billion won. It was shown that the electric power costs could have been saved 7~26% during the past six years if the operations had been based on the findings of this study.
In accordance with the Watershed Sewer System Maintenance Plan enforced on February 2, 2013, the different compliance concentration of effluent limit be applied to effluent discharged from public sewage treatment works(PSTWs) in each watershed on the basis of water quality thereof. With the introduction of watershed sewer system, it is necessary to set the compliance concentration of effluent limit for PSTWs situated in the watershed, by region and PSTW size, to achieve water quality criteria for regional watersheds or target water quality under TMDL program. Watershed Environmental Agencies establish the Watershed Sewer System Maintenance Plan and set the compliance concentrations of effluent limit for PSTWs under the plan. The agencies plan to apply tougher effluent BOD concentration limits in Class I to IV areas. Effluent BOD concentration limits will be toughened from 5~10 mg/L to 3 mg/L in class II~III areas, from 10mg/L to 5mg/L in class IV areas. Uniform application of effluent BOD concentration limits to PSTWs in the watershed sewer system need to be complemented considering type of sewage treatment technology employed and watershed characteristics. Therefore, this study presents method to determine the compliance concentration of effluent limit from PSTWs in the watershed.
The electricity cost of pumping system accounts for a large part of the total operating cost for long distance water supply networks. This study presents a method based on dynamic programming for establishing an joint optimal operation of pumps and storages system on a hourly basis. Analysis is taken of the relative efficiencies of the available pumps, the structure of the electricity tariff, the consumer-demand pattern, and the storage characteristics and operational constraints of the pipe. The possible system objectives and constraints are described. An application of the method to the existing Yangju Water Supply System consisted of two pump station and 5 storage pools under the condition of expanding pumping facility in the part of the Capital Area Water Supply System is presented, showing that considerable electricity cost savings are remarkable. The approach was found to be implementable in real system operation and large-scale water supply system design in respect of minimizing life-cycle total cost.

The Effects of hot water supply temperature on indoor thermal characteristics for floor radiant heating system in residential apartment were researched by computer simulation. The parametric study on hot water supply temperatures with different outdoor air temperatures was done with regard to energy performance and control characteristics, respectively. As a result, the maximum overshoot of indoor air temperature and energy consumption were reduced by adjusting the hot water supply temperatures with outdoor air temperatures.
This research explored the relationship between the water quality issue of Wolji Pond (Anapji Pond) with the maintenance of the channel flow circulation system. The water supply and drainage system closely related to the circulation system of pond has been reviewed, rather than the existing water supply and drainage system that has been analyzed in previous studies. As a result of reviewing the water supply system, it has been learned that the water supply system on the southeastern shore of Wolji Pond, being the current water supply hole, has been connected to the east side garden facility (landscaping stone, curved waterway, storage facility of water) between the north and south fence and the waterway. This separate facility group seems to have been a subject of the investigation of the eastern side of Wolji Pond, with the landscaping stones having been identified in the 1920's survey drawings. The water supply facility on the southeastern shore, being the suspected water supply hole, seems to have some connection with the granite waterway remaining on the building site of Imhaejeon (臨海殿) on the southern side of Wolji Pond. It is inferred that it provides clean water, seeing that the slope towards the southwestern shore of Wolji Pond becomes lower, the landscaping stones have been placed in the filter area, and it is present in the 1920's survey drawings and the water supply hole survey drawing of 1975. The water drainage facility on the northern shore is composed of five stages. The functions of the wooden waterway and the rectangular stone water catchment facility seem not to be only for the water drainage of Wolji Pond. In light of the points that there are wood plugs in the wooden waterway and that there is a water catchment facility in the final stage, it is judged that the water of Balcheon Stream (撥川) may be charged in reverse according to this setup. Namely, the water could enter and exit in either direction in the water drainage facility on the northern shore It also seems that the supply to the wooden waterway could be opened and shut through the water catchment facility of rectangular stone group as well. The water drainage facility on the western shore is very similar to the water drainage facility on the northern shore, so it is difficult to avoid the belief that it existed during the Silla Dynasty, or it has been produced by imitating the water drainage facility on the northern shore at some future point in time. It seems to have functioned as the water drainage facility for the supply of agricultural water during the Joseon Dynasty. The water supply and drainage facilities in Wolji Pond have been understood as a systematized distribution network that has been intertwined organically with the facility of Donggung Palace, which was the center of the Silla capital. Water has been supplied to each facility group, including Wolji Pond, through this structure; it includes the drainage system connecting to the Namcheon River (南川) through the Balcheon Stream, which was an important canal of the capital center.

In Cukhe, a village located in the outskirts of Hanoi, Vietnam, people suffer from a shortage of high-quality water due to an arsenic contaminated supply water resource. We installed catchments, filters and settled tanks in the existing rainwater harvesting facility to improve water quality, and ten portable rainwater tanks to provide good-quality drinking water to the poor households and kindergartens in the dry season. The triple bottom line considerations, as well as the environmental, economic, and social impacts of the rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems are examined. RWH is a sustainable method to obtain good-quality drinking water at low cost and with little energy expenditure. Education of the system also encourages that continuation of the system and expansion can lead into economic prosperity, as the safe drinking water can be sold to the community. Hence, RWH is a unique proposal as sustainable drinking supply water for improving the lives and health of residents in Cukhe and other sites where water supply sources are contaminated.

Dynamic characteristics of water hammer arresters installed in a building water supply system have been investigated numerically by utilizing a commercial rode that employs the method of characteristics. Some preliminary results with those arresters produced in this study agree well with the previously reported. Then, the arresters have been incorporated into a water supply pipe system of a $59m^2$ apartment unit constructed by a leading construction company, and their dynamic characteristics, especially on the reduction in the water hammer pressure, are investigated. It is found that the setting of the arresters in the pipe system, which is recommended by the company, may not be proper for reducing the pressure to less than 1082.0 kPa when buick-closure valves in the pipe system are closed within 30 ms at the static pressure of 542.6 kPa. More arresters in the system may be required to meet a pressure criteria.
This study is describes thermal performance of solar cooling and hot water for demonstration system with ETSC(Evacuated tubular solar collector) installed at Seo-gu culture center of Kwanju. Control condition for solar cooling and hot water system is changed by connection of auxiliary heater. Demonstration system was connected to central air conditioning system. Demonstration system was operated by two types. First type(A) was operated to cooling and hot water supply in that order. Second type(B) was operated to hot water supply and cooling in that order. As a result. it was indicated that the total solar energy consumption of (A) was 799 MJ and the solar energy consumption rate for the cooling and hot water supply was 70% and 30% respectively. Total solar energy consumption of (b) was 898 MJ and the solar energy consumption rate for the cooling and hot water supply was 31% and 69% respectively.

During the past decades in South Korea, there have been several projects to reduce water demand and save water for paddy irrigation system by automation. This is called as intensive water management system by telemetering of paddy ponding depth and canal water level and telecontrol of water supply facilities. This study suggests a method of constructing topology-based irrigation network system using GIS tools. For the network modeling, a typical agricultural watershed included reservoirs, irrigation and drainage canals, pumping stations was selected. ArcHydro tools composed of edge, junction, waterbody and watershed were used to construct hydro-network. ArcHydro Model was then designed and the network was successfully built using the HydroID. Visualization using ArcHydro tools could display table property of each object. ArcHydro Model was linked to Agricultural Water Demamd and Supply Estimation System (AWDS) which developed by Korea Rural Community and Agriculture Corporation (KRC) to extract information of the study area. And menu of supply facilities information, demand analysis and supply analysis constructed for information acquisition and visualization of acquired informations.
