  • A maritime DGPS in Korea offers pseudo-range correction information and monitors integrity of correction data by using multiple GNSS receivers. The maritime DGPS reference station and integrity monitor service sets alarm threshold value about integrity monitoring parameters for preventing service interruption status. However there is no way to avoid system interruption according to malfunction of backup systems and outside factors. Therefore, in this paper, warning threshold values were proposed for maritime DGPS operator can be counteract in advance. And Markov analysis method was carried out for selection of these warning threshold values.

  • Active Safety system is requested on the market of the medium and heavy duty commercial vehicle over 4.5ton beside the market of passenger car with advancement of the digital equipment proportionally. Unlike the passenger car, the mounting position of camera in case of the medium and heavy duty commercial vehicle is relatively high, it is disadvantaged conditions for lane recognition in contradiction to passenger car. In this work, we show the method of lane recognition through the Sobel edge, based on the spatial domain processing, Hough transform and color conversion correction. Also we suggest the low error method of front vehicles recognition in order to reduce the detection error through Haar-like, Adaboost, SVM and Template matching, etc., which are the object recognition methods by frontal camera vision. It is verified that the reliability over 98% on lane recognition is obtained through the vehicle test.

  • We evaluated the inappropriateness of metformin use in patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic medical conditions to identify the frequency of the prescription metformin in violation of the food and drug administration (FDA) black box warning. We reviewed medical records of 307 outpatients who received metformin at endocrinology department in a hospital setting between January 1, 2005 and August 30, 2009. Of the 307 outpatients, 25 discontinued treatment of metformin due to elevated serum creatinine level (Scr${\geq}$1.5 mg/dl in male, Scr${\geq}$1.4 mg/dl in female), cancers, and/or liver disease. 5 were lost to follow-up. 89 (29.0%) of the patients had cardiovascular disease, 54.1% for hypertension, 9.8% for liver disease, and 60 (20.8%) for chronic kidney disease. 12 patients (3.9%) with chronic kidney disease and/or elevated serum creatinine level, and 1 patient (0.3%) with lactic acidosis were contraindicated to metformin use. Metformin should be avoided in 7 outpatients (2.3%) with active hepatitis and 1 patient (2.6%) with liver cirrhosis. Of the 307 outpatients, 13 (4.2%) patients who received metformin at the first visit and 16 (8.7%) patients who received metformin at the last visit violated to black box warning. 8 (2.6%) of the patients were in precautionary conditions to metformin use. Adjusted mean difference of serum creatinine was -0.16 mg/dl [95% CI: -0.22 to -0.11 (p<0.05)] and adjusted mean difference of alanine aminotransferase was 4.46 IU/l [95% CI: 2.47 to 6.44 (p<0.05)] between the first visit and the last visit. Critical number of elderly patients who are at the high risks of drug-disease and drug-laboratory interaction is exposed to the inappropriate metformin use in violation of black box warning. The periodic evaluation of metformin use and monitoring prescription through drug utility review (DUR) system is needed to improve patients' safety and to reduce adverse drug events.

  • This paper describes the arousal measurement and control system using fuzzy logic to prevent drowsy driving. Sugeno's method was used for fuzzy inference in this study. Arousal evaluation and control criteria were modified from result of Nz-IRI analysis depending on arousal sate. Membership function and rule base of fuzzy inference were determined from the modified arousal level criteria When lRl (Inter-SIR Interval) was shorter than 60sec, outputs of both methods were changed from small to big, but output of three step warning method was same level until the next warning range. Since output of fuzzy inference tracked well the change of subject's arousal level, problems of three step warning method could be overcome by fuzzy inference method Furthermore, the output of the fuzzy inference was highly correlated with Nz(r = 0.99). Therefore, the fuzzy inference method for evaluation and the control of arousal will be more effective at real driving situation than three step warning method.

  • This study aims to provide a real-time information to the driver by effectively operating the advanced safety device attached to the freight vehicle, thereby minimizing insecure behavior of the driver such as speeding, rapid acceleration, sudden braking, And improve driving habits to prevent accidents and save energy. Advanced safety equipment is a device that warns the driver that the vehicle leaves the driving lane regardless of the intention of the driver and reduces the risk of traffic accidents by mitigating or avoiding collision by detecting a frontal collision during driving. The main contents of this report are as follows: In case of installing a warning device on a lane departing vehicle (excluding a light vehicle) and a lorry or special vehicle with a total weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes, the driver must continue to operate unless the driver releases the function. In addition, when the automatic emergency braking system is installed, the structure should be such that the braking device is operated automatically after warning the driver when the risk of collision with the running or stopped vehicle in the same direction is detected in front of the driving lane.

  • A recently lot of facilities have been constructed from rapidly development of science and economic growth. Among them, bridges are tending to be large because of geometrical problems of the road. And then the method of satellite surveying is being practical use variously out of present surveying methods. Therefore in this study it takes a measurement of bridge displacement using the RTK GPS Mode instead of the using mechanical measurement system. The observation value was verified by using Total Station to inspect observation value of RTK GPS. And then, by using the Delphi of object intending language, developed bridge warning system and applied it. The result of this study was found verification error of 0.2~8.3mm, therefore the measurement of bridge displacement of grand bridge can be applied by using An GPS.

  • This paper presents performance improvement of CO gas sensor signal conditioner for early fire warning system. The warning system is based on the CO sensor and its advanced signal conditioning modules network that employ electochemical gas sensor. The electochemical has advantage of having a linear output and operating with a low consumption and fast response. This electrochemical gas sensor contains a gas membrane and three electrodes(working, counter, reference electrode) in contact with an electrolyte. To use a three-electrode sensor, a voltage has to be applied between the working and the reference electrode according to the specification of the sensor. In this paper, we designed these requirements that should be considered in temperature compensation algorithm and electrode measurement of CO sensor modules by using advanced signal conditioning method included 3-electrode. Simulation and experimental results show that signal conditioner of CO sensor module using 3-electrode have a advantage linearity, sensitivity and stability, fast response etc..

  • The potential impact of past Caribbean tsunamis generated by earthquakes and/or massive submarine slides/slumps, as well as the tsunamigenic potential and population distribution within the Intra-Americas Sea (IAS) was examined to help define the optimal location for coastal sea level gauges intended to serve as elements of a regional tsunami warning system. The goal of this study was to identify the minimum number of sea level gauge locations to aid in tsunami detection and provide the most warning time to the largest number of people. We identified 12 initial, prioritized locations for coastal sea level gauge installation. Our study area approximately encompasses $7^{\circ}N$, $59^{\circ}W$ to $36^{\circ}N$, $98^{\circ}$ W. The results of this systematic approach to assess priority locations for coastal sea level gauges will assist in developing a tsunami warning system (TWS) for the IAS by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission's Regional Sub-Commission for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (IOCARIBE-GOOS).
