Design and Implementation of Security System Based on Intrusion Tolerance Technology : Focus on Wargame System (침입감내기술 기반의 보안시스템 설계 및 구현 : 워게임체계를 중심으로)

  • Objective of this study is to design and implement security system based on intrusion tolerance technology for the improvement of dependability in defense system. In order to do so, I identify and extract core technologies through the research and analysis into characteristics, structures, main functions, and technologies of intrusion tolerance architecture. And I accomplish a design of security system through the redundant system based on these core technologies. To implement and verify intrusion tolerance system, I chose 'wargame system' as a subjected system, and accomplished 'Wargame Intrusion Tolerance System' and verified security required functions through a performance test. By applying showed security system into the development of application software based on intrusion tolerance, systematic and efficient system could be developed. Also applying 'WITDS' can solve the current security problems, and this will be basic model for design of security architecture in the federation system after.

  • Reports have a significant meaning in time-constrained large transaction environments, such as airplane control systems or wargame simulations. This is due to the necessity of generating reports within a limited scope of time without restraining the operation performance of large transaction environments. In order to generate reports in large transaction environments while satisfying time - constrained requirements, this paper propose a model which combines the incremental operation mechanism and materialized view mechanism using triggers and stored procedures. Further, the implementation and evaluation of the preposed model provides analysis for model characteristics.

  • This paper deals with complex system theory to describe land combat situation using EINSTein (Enhanced ISAAC Neural Simulation Tool) simulation model. Many studies have shown that existing Lanchester equations used in most wargame models does not describe changes of combat units, real land warfare situation and qualitative factors in combat. Future warfare will be a non-linear combat with various weapon system and complex combat units. EINSTein models is an agent-based simulation tool using complex system theory. We have compared and tested land combat results with Lanchester models and EINSTein models. The results have shown that EINSTein model has a possibility to apply and analyze land warfare more properly than Lanchester models.

  • This is a case study which establishes effective ammo issue plan and determines ammo support capability by linking various situations about ammo issue with wargame simulation. Ammo function simulation model has been developed for this matter and it has been proven that the model has significant impact on type of round, parking space for magazine, number of workers and capacity of equipment, etc. during establishing ammo issue plan and determining ammo supply capability. Also, ammo support capability varies significantly depending on tactical damage and MOPP status, etc. ASP's tactical situation, such as magazine damage, MOPP status, type of issuing round, parking space for magazine, number of workers and capacity of equipment, can be reflected when preparing an effective wartime ammo working hour issuing plan for supplying ammo to units through studies results, so that the issuing plan can be realistic and actual.

  • The probability of target survival is the most important factor in the target assignment, Most of the studies about it have assumed the case of one target and ane weapon type. Therefore, they can not be applied to the real situation. In this paper. the quantity and type of enemy assets of the friendly force are considered simultaneously. Considered defense type is the coordinated defense with no impact point prediction. The objective function is to minimize the expected total survival value of targets which are scattered in the defense area. The rules of aircraft assignment are as follows : first, classify targets into several groups, each of those has the same desired damage level secondly. select the critical group which has the least survival value in accordance with the additional aircraft assignment, and finally. assign the same number of attack assets against each target in the critical group. In this paper, the attack assets, the escort assets, and the defense assets are considered. The model is useful to not only the simple aircraft assignment problem but also the complicated wargame models.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a methodology that can estimate optimal requirement of attack helicopter Korea army will be operating in future. For estimating optimal requirement, attack helicopter's operation concept, performance, battlefield environment and enemy threat are considered. We use a wargame model, AAsim(Army Aviation simulation), as a analytic simulation model which is used to analyze DOTMLPF and operation in army aviation field. In this paper, we conduct battle experiment for anti armored corps operation which reflects attack helicopter's combat effectiveness very well. As a result of simulation, the destructive rate for enemy armored corps per each attack helicopter can be calculated. In this paper, we propose optimal requirement of attack helicopter using that destructive rate for enemy armored corps.

  • Commander and staffs on the battlefield are aware of the situation and, based on the results, they perform military activities through their military decisions. Recently, with the development of information technology, the demand for artificial intelligence to support military decisions has increased. It is essential to identify, collect, and pre-process the data set for reinforcement learning to utilize artificial intelligence. However, data on enemies lacking in terms of accuracy, timeliness, and abundance is not suitable for use as AI learning data, so a training model is needed to collect AI learning data. In this paper, a methodology for learning artificial intelligence was presented using the constructive wargame model exercise data. First, the role and scope of artificial intelligence to support the commander and staff in the military decision-making process were specified, and to train artificial intelligence according to the role, learning data was identified in the Chang-Jo 21 model exercise data and the learning results were simulated. The simulation data set was created as imaginary sample data, and the doctrine of ROK Army, which is restricted to disclosure, was utilized with US Army's doctrine that can be collected on the Internet.

  • This paper is aimed to propose an testing and evaluation strategy and plan in Military Information Systems, especially focusing on development an“New-generation Wargame Model”. Through this research, we concluded that the effective and efficient testing/evaluation strategy/plan can aid the productivity, maintainability, availability, etc., of the Militray Information Systems. Highlights of the proposed testing and evaluation strategy and plan for Military Information Systems are as follows. First, in the unit and module integration testing phase, hybrid of black-box and white-box testing techniques are available for Military Information Systems and progressive approach for module integration phase should be considered because of the complexity. Second, in the system testing phase, integrated module should be tested with respect to the function and performance that should be satisfied with the user requirements, specifications, risk analysis, etc., Third, in the acceptance testing phase, reliability, interoperability, maintainability, availability, integrity, etc., must be considered in the actual or mini-operational environments for testing efficiently and effectively.

  • 시뮬레이션을 이용한 위게임 체계는 실 기동훈련체계를 효과적으로 보완할 수 있는 육군의 부대훈련체계로서 정착되어 있으며, 이를 위하여 실시간에 전장상황을 처리하고 필요시 진행시간 조정, 상황 재현 등의 임의 통제가 가능한 워게임 모델 개발에 대한 요구가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 다기능, 다제대 동시훈련이 가능한 분산형 워게임 시뮬레이션 모델 개발을 수행한 내용으로, 연대전투모델에서 분산 처리가 가능한 분야를 도출하고, 이를 실시간 처리 기준에 맞도록 모델링에서 분산 처리가 가능한 분야를 도출하고, 이를 실시간 처리 기준에 맞도록 모델링에 반영하였다. 분산 워게임 모델 구현을 위하여 실시간 분산객체 기술의 한 분야인 TMO(Time Triggered Message Triggered Object) 모델을 기반으로 nstks처리 모델을 설계하였고, 논문에서는 현재까지 분산형 워게임 모델 개발에 대한 연구 결과와 향후 연구 방향을 제시하고자 한다.
