Automating Warehouse Management Using a Bar-Code System (바-코드 시스템을 이용한 창고관리의 자동화)

  • This study presents an Automated Warehouse Management System (AWMS) using a bar-code system The AWMS has been designed to be associated with an Integrated Production Management System (IPMS), which basically includes the following four modules i.e the sales management, production management, material management, and data management. Now, whenever storage or retrieval of the material occurs in the warehouse, the events could be processed quickly and accurately only through reading the 13 digit bar-code including 5 digit position code and simply typing in the number of material. Consequently, the AWMS associated with IPMS could automatically coincide the item counts on document with those in the warehouse. Also, this makes it possible to identify the material quantities in real time.

  • Warehouse has many changes for the stocks by entering and taking. Management about the stocks is important. To manage, sensor network based on RFID is deployed in warehouse. Sensor network uses fluster based on energy and hierarchical routing. Supporting mobility between clusters makes guarantee connectivity for mobile nodes.

  • Recently, there has been increased demand for automatic warehouses with racks which are installed inside the warehouses to allow vertical loading of products or goods for space efficiency. Therefore considerations about fire hazards are extremely necessary. In this study, the fire hazard of automatic warehouse with racks was analyzed in the view of fire prevention engineering. It appeared its fire hazard was extremely high because of the undefined fire zones, the windowless floor, the large volume, the difficulty of extinguishment and the smoke emission in the view of building itself, and because of the fire hazard of load itself, the high fire load, and the chimney effect in the view of fire.

Non-Duplication Loading Method for supporting Spatio-Temporal Analysis in Spatial Data Warehouse (공간 데이터웨어하우스에서 시공간 분석 지원을 위한 비중복 적재기법)

  • In this paper, we have proposed the non-duplication loading method for supporting spatio-temporal analysis in spatial data warehouse. SDW(Spatial Data Warehouse) extracts spatial data from SDBMS that support various service of different machine. In proposed methods, it extracts updated parts of SDBMS that is participated to source in SDW. And it removes the duplicated data by spatial operation, then loads it by integrated forms. By this manner, it can support fast analysis operation for spatial data and reduce a waste of storage space. Proposed method loads spatial data by efficient form at application of analysis and prospect by time like spatial mining.

A Study on the Time of Delivery of Goods and Liability for Mis-delivery in terms of an Ocean Carrier (해상 운송인의 운송물 인도시점과 오인도(誤引渡)에 따른 손해배상책임에 관한 연구)

  • This study reviews the judgements by the Korean Supreme Court on the time of delivery of goods, as it depends on which bonded place the goods are kept for the purpose of the customs clearance. Thereafter, this study analyzes the Ocean Carrier's liability, when the cargoes are mis-delivered without the presentation of bill of lading in relation to the specific bonded place such as an independent bonded warehouse or a self-use bonded warehouse. Furthermore, considering that voyage charter is a kind of marine transport, this study also reviews whether or not the Court's judgements, which has been developed in respect of the carriage of affreightment, could be applied to voyage charter in respect of the time of delivery goods and the Ocean Carrier's liability for mis-delivery. Lastly, in the case that the substantial importer takes the goods from the independent bonded warehouse without the presentation of bill of lading after the customs clearance, it is noted that the Court has made the Ocean Carrier liable for the mis-delivery through the application of theory of double deposit contract. The position of the Court would be understandable in terms of the protection for the bona-fide holder of bill of lading, but this study reviews the limitation of liability as the device for the protection of the Ocean Carrier, considering the situation where the Ocean Carrier is somewhat unreasonably sacrificed under the bonded system provided for the convenience of substantial importer.

  • The importance of warehouse is increasing since the role of warehouse in modern industry is changing from concept of storage to concept of circulation which facilitates purchasing, production, storage and distribution activities by induction of information system. In this study, a program is developed using C# for evaluating efficiency of automated storage and retrieval system(AS/RS). A simulation work is done for eight operating schemes under the combination of three conditions, which are storing method, the shape of automatic warehouse and the sequence of command performs, and the moving distance of stacker crane is calculated using the same gateway data. Using this program, the optimal operating scheme can be proposed based on the analyzed results of simulation. This progrm shows the effectiveness and applicability through the simulation work and can be utilized for courses which are related to factory facilities.

  • The NGIS(National Geographic Information System) project is in its third phase currently. To put the produced data to practical use, central and local governments are trying to implement spatial data warehouse(SDW). In this study, status of local and international SDW(Spatial Data Warehouse) technology were investigated. It has been observed that in Korea it was necessary to shift the focus from management of spatial data to servicing of spatial data to information end users. To that end, the following tasks should be pursued : 1) standardization, 2) automatic ways of linking various legacy administrative information, 3) development of customized middleware for spatial data integration and 4) legal system infra structure.

The analysis of material flow in the plate warehouse by simulation

  • POSCO has a plan for facility expansion in plate mill by building No.3 Plate Mill. By No.3 Plate Mill's coming on line, POSCO' current plate production of 2.3 million tons will increase by over 1 million tons to 3.36 million tons (Currently, annual domestic demand for plates is 4.42 million tons). With the plan of facility expansion, POSCO also has the plan of integrating the Plate Warehouse. But, we came to have a question whether the roller table from the mill to the warehouse could carry extended products. Engineers working in the mill wanted to install transfer facility to reduce the load of the roller table, but the engineers in facility purchasing team didn't want to buy the new facility. So, We needed to analyzed the material flow by simulation. The simulation was done on the VAX system by SLAM II. And this project was done by two engineers for 2 months. In the end, we concluded that two transfer facilities are needed for material flow with no bottle neck point.

  • This paper considers the intermediate warehouse location problem in a two stage distribution system where commodities are delivered from the given set of capacitated factories to customers via uncapacitated intermediate warehouses. In order to determine the subset of warehouses to open which minimizes the total distribution costs including the fixed costs associated with opening warehouses, the cross decomposition method for mixed integer programming recently developed by T.J. Van Roy is used. The cross decomposition unifies Benders decomposition and Lagrangean relaxation into a single framework that involves successive solutions to a primal subproblem and a dual subproblem. In our problem model, primal subproblem turns out to be a transshipment problem and dual subproblem turns out to be an intermediate warehouse location problem with uncapacitated factories.

On the Computational Complexity of the Plate Stacking Problem (후판적치문제의 복잡성에 대한 연구)

  • This paper deals with a stowage plan for plates in a warehouse. This plan includes how to place each plate and how to sequence outgoing lots for picking. A group of plates in an outgoing lot should be loaded in the same outgoing pallet and between two elates in the same lot, no plate from other than the lot should be placed. Since the approach to the plates is only from above, when the plates in the different lots are placed mixed in a warehouse, we have to temporarily move many of plates in some other place to let a plate in the lot for which loading is under way go out. Our purpose is to minimize those temporary moves. We analyze the computational complexity of several problems arising in the stowage plan of a plate warehouse.
