  • As the interest in the wireless internet services is increasing recently, the related technology development is in active progress. According to WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) specification which is currently considered as one of the most powerful international standardizations, mobile terminal and WAP server are supposed to communicate through WAP Gateway. This paper is about the design and implementation of IWAP platform where WAP Gateway and Server are integrated and supported based on Linux. The proposed WAP platform broadly consists of four modules like WAP Gateway, JAVA based Server development environment, WML Tool-Kit, and MUL (Management User Interface) and for bearer network, SMSC (Short Message Service Center) and CSD (Circuit Switched Data) router are considered.

  • The WAP gateway. for wireless internet applications services, is a software that is placed between the user terminals(PDA, mobile phones) and the WAP/Web server. H is a middleware system that converts the protocol of a packet network to the protocol on the WAP network, and supports the encoding of WML documents. In this paper, we designed and implemented the WAP gateway based on the WAP specification version 1.2 announced by the WAP forum. It provides cross-platform compatibility by being implemented by the Java language. Compared with a Kannel system using a Nokia tool kit version 1.2, it provides a more excellent performance and a stability.

  • WAP은 WAP Form에서 제정한 무선 환경에서의 데이터 통신을 위한 표준 프로토콜이다. WAP에서는 WAP Gateway에 상이한 두 프로토콜의 변환 기능뿐만 아니라 컨텐츠의 Encoding/Decoding을 통한 데이터의 압축을 제안하고 있다. 이는 무선 단말기의 낮은 CPU 속도, 적은 메모리, 제한된 전력, 제한된 화면 등의 제약과 무선통신으로 인한 광대역폭을 최대한 활용하기 위해서이다. 그러나 많은 기능을 WAP Gateway에서 모두 담당하므로 여기서 발생하는 오버헤드로 인한 문제와 종단간 보안 문제가 발생하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 기존의 WAP Server 에 WAP Gateway의 기능을 분산한 새로운 형태의 WAP Server와 WAP Gateway를 제안하고자 한다.

  • The purpose of this study is to introduce the implementation of WML and WMLScript by using the Openwave WAP simulator. For this purpose, previous literature review was done on the studies about the structures of WAP systems, types of WAP Browsers, and development methods of WAP contents. Afterwards, I attempt to implement WML and WMLScript by using an openwave Phone simulator, openwave WAP simulator, openwave HTTP simulator and Nokia Mobile Internet Toolkit. Few studies have been completed on implementation of WMLScript and it's complex process. Therefore, this study explores the necessary implementation steps and develops an easier way to create and experiment mobile applications using WMLScript.

  • The WAP 2.0 system is a newly proposed wireless communication system by the WAP Forum for interoperability across Internet environment and the system takes charge of communication between WAP terminals and existing origin Web servers. The purpose of this paper is 1) to construct a WAP 2.0 proxy proposed by the WAP Forum and 2) to improve the WAP Proxy in order to increase communication efficiency between wired and wireless communication objects. The Improved WAP proxy constructed in this study provides links between wired and wireless communication environments using the split-TCP concept. However, unlike the split-TCP connection, The improved WAP proxy maintains TCP's end-to-end semantics and reduces overhead by avoiding operations as much as possible on the upper protocol layer. In addition, The improved WAP proxy supports SACK(Selective Acknowledgement ) option and Timestamp option for speedy re-transmission which leads to reduction of performance degradation. After constructing the improved WAP proxy under Linux environment, experiments have been taken. The experimental results show that, compared with the experiments when a WAP proxy proposed by the WAP Forum is used, both data transmission delay time and data transmission size decrease to show that communication efficiency is increased. In particular, as packet missing ratio Increases, data transmission size decreases, which demonstrates that the improved WAP proxy is very effective for performance improvement in wireless communication environment.

  • An improvement of a mobile game content production and a service technology are bringing an explosive increase of a mobile game market. Currently serviced mobile games are using a WAP method and a download method. Because of technical problems, we couldn't develop the mobile game content which sequentially linked WAP->download and download->WAP. In this study, we design and develop the mobile game content which sequentially linked WAP->download and download->WAP. In the proposed method, we can linked the stage and the ranking information as sharing a data on real time that it is impossible in the previous mobile game content.

  • Recently, researches on various base technologies for wireless Internet services have been conducted. In the WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) Forum, a WAP gateway which does mutual conversion between existent wired Internet protocols and WAP protocols was proposed. In this paper, CSA(Client Side Agent) and SSA(Server Side Agent) for WAP gateway environments are designed and implemented, as a way of improving communication efficiency in such restrictive environments as wireless communications. Located on mobile WAP devices(CSA) and a WAP Gateway(SSA), the agents perform communication efficiency improvement activities such as a packet header reduction mechanism and a data reduction mechanism using data differencing analysis in order to reduce the size of data transmission in wireless communication environments. The Internet phone emulator of Phone.com is used in order to make sure that the implemented agents work correctly, Experimental results show that the implemented agents reduce the size of data transmission significantly.

  • 본 논문에서는 WAP 포럼에서 제시하고 있는 무선 인터넷 솔루션인 WAP에서의 보안 메커니즘인 WTLS(Wireless Transport Layer Security), WIM (WAP Identity Module), WMLScript Crypto Library, WPKI(WAP Public Key Infrastructure)에 대해 살펴보고, WAP 게이트웨이를 사용하는 네트워크의 구조적 형태에서 발생되는 종단간 보안 서비스의 문제점에 대해 논의한 후 WAP 환경에서 종단간 보안 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 보안 시스템을 설계 및 구현하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, it is analyzed that WAP packet transmission time to improve performance of WAP using SAR-QT algorithm in Bluetooth channel. The order for SAR-QT algorithm to improve the transfer capability, it is fragmented in WTP total messages that are coming down from upper layer and then the packets are sent one at time in baseband. And it is studied that transmission time for WAP over Bluetooth according to DMI, DM3 or DM5 packet type using SAR-QT algorithm in Bluetooth piconet environment. This SAR-QT algorithm decreases WAP packet transmission time of L2CAP baseband packets by sending packet that are spanning multiple slots. From the results, in WAP over Bluetooth channels, it is found out that WTP packet size ought to be increased to decrease transmission time of WAP packet. In addition, considering BER in wireless channel, optimal WTP packet size is achieved for WAP over Bluetooth in a Rician fading environment.

  • 무선 어플리케이션 서비스 시스템 구축시 가장 중요한 역할을 담당하는 장비는 WAP(Wireless Application Protocol) 프록시 서버이다 WAP 프록시 서버는 WAP 프로토콜과 인터넷 TCP/IP 프로토콜을 중간에서 변환해 주는 역할을 한다. 따라서, 무선 단말기로부터 요청은 WAP 프록시 서버를 통해 유선망의 서버로 보내지게 되고, 서버로부터 보내진 무선 콘텐츠는 다시 WAP 프록시 서버를 통해 무선 단말기로 전해진다. 이때, 무선 컨텐츠가 WAP 프록시 서버에 캐싱된다면, 동일한 무선 콘텐츠 요청시, 유선망을 거치지 않고도 WAP 프록시 서버에서 무선 컨텐츠를 서비스 할 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문에서는 WAP 프록시 서버에 캐싱 기능을 추가하여, 그 성능을 분석하였다. 성능 측정을 위해 C와 서블릿으로 측정 모듈을 작성 했으며, 웹 브라우저를 통해 실시간으로 측정 결과를 확인 가능하도록 하였다.
