  • Intraventricular arachnoid cyst has been rarely reported. Here we present two cases of symptomatic intraventricular arachnoid cysts in the fourth ventricle and right lateral ventricle. The first patient was a 38-year-old female who complained of headache and left facial hypesthesia. Computed tomography and MR scan revealed large cystic lesion in the fourth ventricle. After cyst wall removal, facial hypesthesia disappeared immediately and headache improved slowly. The second patient was a 9-year-old girl who complained of headache, vomiting and paresthesia in her right low extremity. Cystic lesion in the right lateral ventricle was detected in the CT and MR scan. The symptoms improved after cyst wall removal. Surgical findings of these two cases showed that the cyst walls were attached firmly to the choroid plexus. Symptomatic intraventricular arachnoid cyst must be treated appropriately and we recommend complete cyst wall removal.

  • The number of apartments has been increased, and it is time to activate the remodeling or reconstruction. Recently remodeling has been preferred to reconstruction, because reconstruction might cause many problems. At this point of time, remodeling could save resources, preserve environment, and expand the construction market places. However, most research for remodeling is aimed to improve the financial value, and structural effects being caused by floor plan modification has not been done yet quantitatively. Remodeling naturally brings to floor plan modification, and it can cause serious problems of structural side. So we made apartments an object of study, then analyzed stress variation of structural elements according to the removal of shear wall, supposing the floor plan modification. For this purpose, we selected a sample of universal apartment floor plan and extracted floor plan modification factors. Then we applied the factors to sample floor plan and organized the results of stress variation of structural elements. As results, walls are most harmful when the independent walls are removed, and in case of slabs, it is most critical when continuous walls are removed.

  • The number of women undergoing breast augmentation surgery with a prosthesis for cosmetic purposes or reconstruction after a mastectomy is steadily increasing. Hematoma is one of complications associated with breast augmentation surgery. It usually occurs early in the postoperative period. It rarely occurs late (after six months). However, chronic hematomas after prosthesis removal have not yet been reported in the radiological literature. We present a case of unilateral chronic organizing hematoma that developed late and grew persistently over long period after breast explantation, mimicking a soft tissue tumor of the chest wall clinically. Meanwhile, characteristic magnetic resonance imaging features of heterogeneous signal intensities on T1-weighted and T2-weighted images and dark signal intensity with a persistent enhancement of the peripheral wall of the lesion were found. These can be used for a differential diagnosis.

  • Purpose: In this study, in order to ensure the evacuation safety of plant facilities, we analyze the relationship between the height of smoke removal boundary walls, the presence or absence of smoke removal equipment, and evacuation safety. Method: Using fire and evacuation simulations, evacuation safety was analyzed through changes in the height of the smoke removal boundary wall, air supply volume and exhaust volume according to vertical dista. Result: In the case of visible drawings, if only 0.6m of boundary wall is used, the time below 5m reaches the shortest, and 1.2m of boundary width is 20% longer than when using smoke removal facilities. In the case of temperature, 1.2m is 20% longer than 0.6m when only the boundary width is used without smoke removal facilities. Conclusion: It was found that increasing the length of the smoke removal boundary wall could affect visibility, and installing a smoke removal facility would affect temperature. Therefore, it is determined that an appropriate smoke removal plan and smoke removal equipment should be installed in consideration of the process characteristics.

  • The damages to the reinforced earth retaining wall are divided into the front wall, foundation, drainage and upper slope. Damage of reinforced earth retaining wall is mainly caused by damage caused by drainage problem in the field. Recently, damage caused by snow removal materials have been occurred. Recently, the amount of snow removal materials used in winter is increasing due to abnormal weather. This chlorides degrades the concrete structure, where the reinforced earth retaining wall was no exception. There has recently been a case in which the front wall of the reinforced earth retaining wall deteriorates due to the chlorides introduced into the back filling portion through the drainage passage. Therefore, in this study, the cause of damages of reinforced earth retaining wall constructed in bridge abutment was analyzed, and an analytical study was conducted on the countermeasure. As a result, it was found that chlorides, which was introduced through the drainage system in the expansion joint of the bridge shift part or the upper structure, is infiltrated into the back part of the reinforced earth retaining wall and damaged. Therefore, it is suggested to improve the drainage system and restored the stiffness of the front wall.

  • Ventilation through air vent system in a building envelope is expected to be an effective measure to release solar radiation. An external surface of a wall absorbs solar radiation and transfers it to the air in the cavity. The warmed air gets buoyant force. So when openings are provided at the top and bottom of the cavity, the warmed air is released through the top opening and cooler outside air replaces the space in the cavity. This reduces the further heat transmission into the built environment. This natural ventilation effect seems to be steady and strong. So because of the cavity and the openings, the cooling load reduction by natural ventilation is believed to be considerable.

  • STATEMENT OF PROBLEM. Primary stability at the time of implant placement is related to the level of primary bone contact. The level of bone contact with implant is affected by thread design, surgical procedure and bone quality, etc. PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to compare the initial stability of the various taper implants according to the thread designs, half of which were engaged to inferior cortical wall of type IV bone(Group 1) and the rest of which were not engaged to inferior cortical wall(Group 2) by measuring the implant stability quotient(ISQ) and the removal torque value(RTV). MATERIAL AND METHODS. In this study, 6 different implant fixtures with 10 mm length were installed. In order to simulate the sinus inferior wall of type IV bone, one side cortical bone of swine rib was removed. 6 different implants were installed in the same bone block following manufacturer s recommended procedures. Total 10 bone blocks were made for each group. The height of Group 1 bone block was 10 mm for engagement and that of group 2 was 13 mm. The initial stability was measured with ISQ value using Osstell $mentor^{(R)}$ and with removal torque using MGT50 torque gauge. RESULTS. In this study, we found the following results. 1. In Group 1 with fixtures engaged to the inferior cortical wall, there was no significant difference in RTV and ISQ value among the 6 types of implants. 2. In Group 2 with fixtures not engaged to the inferior cortical wall, there was significant difference in RTV and ISQ value among the 6 types of implants(P < .05). 3. There was significant difference in RTV and ISQ value according to whether fixtures were engaged to the inferior cortical wall or not(P < .05). 4. Under-drilling made RTV and ISQ value increase significantly in the NT implants which had lower RTV and ISQ value in Group 2(P < .05). CONCLUSIONS. Without being engaged to the inferior cortical wall fixtures had initial stability affected by implant types. Also in poor quality bone, under-drilling improved initial stability.

  • This study firstly aims to review the discussions among major nations and international organizations on removal of tariff wall in EC. Secondly, it is analyzed how the trend of tariff reduction of removal will affect an individual economy in a partial balance analysis model on an assumed small-size economy. In closing, political implication for removal of tariffs in EC will be presented. The study concluded that tariff removal on Internet EC has both positive and negative effects on the importing economy. It can improve the efficiency in utilization of economic resources by the importing economy in the long term while cut the financial revenue and aggravate the trade balance of importing country. It is inferred from such a conclusion that tariff removal can lead to trade imbalance between the Information haves and the have-nots.

  • The Recently, several countries have been affected by respiratory diseases, resulting in renewed research interest in their prevention and control. One such example was the 2015 outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in South Korea and COVID-19. In this study, we performed experiments and simulations based on concentration decay using CO2 as the tracer gas to elucidate the pollutant-removal efficiency for different inlet and exhaust locations and outdoor air-supply ratios. The wall inlet exhibited a higher pollutant-removal efficiency, owing to the upward movement of the air from the lower zone to the upper one. In conclusion, it is recommended that a total air-conditioning plan for isolation rooms be established as well as efficient system operation for pollutant removal and air-flow control to prevent the transmission of infections from the patients to others.
