The supersonic combustion experiments are carried out using T3 free-piston shock tunnel. Hydrogen Fuel is injected in the cavity parallel with air(or nitrogen fuel) flow. The equivalence ratios in this study are 0.132 and 0.447. Experimental measurements use OH-PLIF near the cavity and pressures in the combustor. For parallel fuel injection case, direct fuel add into cavity leads to increase of cavity pressure. And Flame exists just near the bottom wall for low equivalent ratio. There is no flame in the cavity because of no mixing in it. Compared to the inclined fuel injection, ignition delay length is longer for low equivalence ratio in both case. OH distribution is not a single line but a repeatable fluctuation flame structure by turbulence. Pressure distributions have nothing to do with the fuel injection position.
The supersonic combustion experiments are carried out using T3 free-piston shock tunnel. Different shock tube fill pressures have various inflow conditions. $15^{\circ}$ inclined hydrogen fuel injection is located before the cavity. Oblique shock is generated from the cavity and reflects off the top and bottom wall. For non-reacting flow, fuel makes the shear layer thicker above the cavity therefore, the shock is generated just before the trailing edge. This research has self-ignition in the combustor. For reacting flow, as the equivalence ratio increases, flame starts to generate near the injector or occur in the recirculation zone before the injector. High fuel injection sustains the jet shape in the cross flow and air can mix with fuel along the shear layer. Therefore, two flame layers find above the cavity for high equivalence ratio.
The appearance and function of corpora lutea(CL) with a central cavity in the ovaries of Korean Native Cattle (KNC) were investigated endocrinologically and histochemically. The CL were enucleated from KNC ovaries within 2~3 hrs local slaughter house and classified with central cavity CL or not. Enzymatically dispersed luteal cell (1$\times$106 live cell/ml of Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Media) with or without cavity of CL cultured at 37$^{\circ}C$ in a humidified incubation (5% CO2 : 95% air) for 72hr. A central cavity in the CL of KNC was found in 58.8% of CL-1, 34.9% of CL 2, 39.1% of CL-3, and 11.1% of CL-4, respectively. There were no significant difference between protein content of CL with and without a central cavity. Mean progesterone secretion after 36h of in vitro luteal cell culture were significantly (p<0.05) higher in CL with central cavity than without cavity. However, the luteal cavitic wall was composed of the connective tissue band of the reticular and collagen fibers and then these connective tissue band extended into the CL with cavity. These results suggest that the central cavity of CL may be caused infertility in KNC.
VPI occurs when the velum and lateral and posterior pharyngeal wall fail to separate the nasal cavity from the oral cavity during deglutition and speech. There are a number of congenital and acquired conditions which result in VPI. Congenital conditions include cleft palate, submucous cleft palate and congenital palatal insufficiency (CPI). Acquired conditions include carcinoma of the palate or pharynx and neurologic disorders. The speech characteristics of VPI is characterized by hypernasality, nasal air emission, decreased intraoral air pressure, increased nasal air flow, decreased intelligibility. VPI can be treated with various methods that include speech therapy, surgical procedures to reduce the velopharyngeal gap, speech aid prosthesis, and combination of surgery and prosthesis. This article describes four cases of VPI treated by speech aid prosthesis and speech therapy with satisfactory result.
Breaking the rigid connection between the two faces of the wall can significantly improve the sound transmission loss of the wall. This is usually achieved by resiliently mounting the gypsum board on one of the two faces of the wall using resilient channel. Resilient channel with less stiffness than that of air cavity could move the resonance frequency of the light-weight wall. So we can get higher sound transmission loss at low frequencies for light-weight wall using resilient channel. It's sound transmission loss is 17 dB higher than that of single stud wall, and 5 dB higher than that of double stud wall.
In precise measurement of air kerma with cavity ionization chambers, the effect of wall attenuation and scatter are corrected by Kwall and that of nonuniformity by Knu. Using the EGS4 code, we calculated these two correction factors. Correction factors calculated for two different-sized cylindrical ionization chamber differ by up to 0.7% from those obtained by measurements.

In this paper, FSTL (Field Sound Transmission Loss) measured in a mock-up simulating ship cabins is studied. A mock-up is built by using 6 mm steel plate, and two identical cabins are made where 25 mm or 50 mm sandwich panel is used to construct wall and ceiling inside the steel structure. Various wall panels and ceilings are tested, where effects of wall and ceiling panel thickness, and presence of a unit toilet on FSTL are investigated. It is found that the effect of unit toilet on FSTL is at most 1 dB. From the comparison of FSTL for panels of the same thickness of 50 mm, it is observed that panel having inside air cavity of 10 mm shows higher STL than that of the panel without air cavity. Comparison of FSTL for panels of 50 mm and 25 mm thickness shows that dependency on surface density predicted by mass law is not observed. The sandwich panels act as a mass-spring system, which shows a resonant mode that cannot be explained by the mass law. It is also found that STL from laboratory test is higher than FSTL by 5- 10 dB, which can be explained by flanking structure-borne noise transmission path such as ceiling, floor and corridor-facing wall.
The main object of this study was to investigate the collection characteristics of wet-type cyclone with wall cavity. The experiment was executed to analyze the characteristics of pressure drop and collection efficiency for the present system with the experimental parameters such as water spray, water spray type, inlet velocity etc. In results, for the present system of wet-type, the pressure drop represented 35 mm $H_2O$, while in dry-type 33 mm $H_2O$ showing lower 6% at $v_{in}=21m/s$. In case of $v_{in}=21m/s$ and water spray 200 mL/min, the collection efficiency of the present system became significantly higher as 96.8% comparing to that of the conventional wet-type scrubber. Additionally, for 200 mL/min, $SO_2$ removal efficiencies decreased with the increment of inlet velocity representing 75.0, 62.5, 50.0%, at $v_{in}=6,9,12m/s$, respectively.
Hot tensile tests were conducted at different temperatures ranging from $20^{\circ}C$ to $550^{\circ}C$ to evaluate the mechanical properties of Al5052 seamless tubes. Such tubes can provide the technological foundation for complex forming using hot air bulging. Hot air bulging is one of the recently developed hydroforming techniques and it has some limitations in terms of cycle times. The benefits of hot air bulging are weight and cost savings through part consolidation and reduced post-forming processes such as welding and piercing. In order to extend the forming limits of Al lightweight material hot air bulging was investigated. A heated tube was placed in a heated die and sealed at the ends by sealing cylinders. The heated tube was subsequently expanded against the die cavity wall by internal pressure using air medium. The results of the current study show that axial feeding speed and air pressure have an effect on the formability of Al tubes during air bulging at elevated temperatures.
A comprehensive numerical study is carried out to investigate for the understanding of the flow evolution and flame development in a supersonic combustor with normal injection of ncumally injecting hydrogen in airsupersonic flows. The formulation treats the complete conservation equations of mass, momentum, energy, and species concentration for a multi-component chemically reacting system. For the numerical simulation of supersonic combustion, multi-species Navier-Stokes equations and detailed chemistry of H2-Air is considered. It also accommodates a finite-rate chemical kinetics mechanism of hydrogen-air combustion GRI-Mech. 2.11[1], which consists of nine species and twenty-five reaction steps. Turbulence closure is achieved by means of a k-two-equation model (2). The governing equations are spatially discretized using a finite-volume approach, and temporally integrated by means of a second-order accurate implicit scheme (3-5).The supersonic combustor consists of a flat channel of 10 cm height and a fuel-injection slit of 0.1 cm width located at 10 cm downstream of the inlet. A cavity of 5 cm height and 20 cm width is installed at 15 cm downstream of the injection slit. A total of 936160 grids are used for the main-combustor flow passage, and 159161 grids for the cavity. The grids are clustered in the flow direction near the fuel injector and cavity, as well as in the vertical direction near the bottom wall. The no-slip and adiabatic conditions are assumed throughout the entire wall boundary. As a specific example, the inflow Mach number is assumed to be 3, and the temperature and pressure are 600 K and 0.1 MPa, respectively. Gaseous hydrogen at a temperature of 151.5 K is injected normal to the wall from a choked injector.A series of calculations were carried out by varying the fuel injection pressure from 0.5 to 1.5MPa. This amounts to changing the fuel mass flow rate or the overall equivalence ratio for different operating regimes. Figure 1 shows the instantaneous temperature fields in the supersonic combustor at four different conditions. The dark blue region represents the hot burned gases. At the fuel injection pressure of 0.5 MPa, the flame is stably anchored, but the flow field exhibits a high-amplitude oscillation. At the fuel injection pressure of 1.0 MPa, the Mach reflection occurs ahead of the injector. The interaction between the incoming air and the injection flow becomes much more complex, and the fuel/air mixing is strongly enhanced. The Mach reflection oscillates and results in a strong fluctuation in the combustor wall pressure. At the fuel injection pressure of 1.5MPa, the flow inside the combustor becomes nearly choked and the Mach reflection is displaced forward. The leading shock wave moves slowly toward the inlet, and eventually causes the combustor-upstart due to the thermal choking. The cavity appears to play a secondary role in driving the flow unsteadiness, in spite of its influence on the fuel/air mixing and flame evolution. Further investigation is necessary on this issue. The present study features detailed resolution of the flow and flame dynamics in the combustor, which was not typically available in most of the previous works. In particular, the oscillatory flow characteristics are captured at a scale sufficient to identify the underlying physical mechanisms. Much of the flow unsteadiness is not related to the cavity, but rather to the intrinsic unsteadiness in the flowfield, as also shown experimentally by Ben-Yakar et al. [6], The interactions between the unsteady flow and flame evolution may cause a large excursion of flow oscillation. The work appears to be the first of its kind in the numerical study of combustion oscillations in a supersonic combustor, although a similar phenomenon was previously reported experimentally. A more comprehensive discussion will be given in the final paper presented at the colloquium.
