음향 신호기와 연동하는 시각 장애인을 위한 스마트 지팡이 (Smart Cane for the blind interworking with Sound Signal Generator)

  • 횡단보도와 교차로에서 시각 장애인을 위한 보행 안전시설은 부족하다. 시각 장애인을 위해 인도에 점자 블록이 설치되고 교차로에 RF 원격 제어 시스템으로 제어되는 신호등과 음향 신호기가 설치되어 있다. RF 원격 제어 시스템은 하나의 주파수를 사용하여 교차로에서 인접한 신호등과 음향 발생기들을 동시에 동작시키는 문제가 있다. 본 논문은 비콘을 사용하여 교차로에 설치된 시각 장애인을 위한 신호등과 음향 신호기를 식별하고 진행 방향의 신호등과 음향 신호기를 적외선 통신으로 동작시키는 스마트 지팡이를 개발하였다. 본 논문에서 개발한 스마트 지팡이는 블루투스 통신을 통해 모바일 앱과 연동하여 시각 장애인을 위한 보행자 내비게이션을 제공 할 수 있다.

주변환경 변화에 따른 어린이공원 이용 활성화방안 - 대전시 서구 어린이공원을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Revitalization of Children's Parks by the Transition of the Surrounding Environment in Seogu, Daejeon)

  • This study is targeted on children's parks in Seogu, Daejeon with the goal of maximizing the usage and versatility of existing parks in the area by the survey and analysis of the general status of children's parks, land use near the parks, population, users, and traits of usage. For the purposes of this thesis this study has selected 65 of the children's parks in the Seogu District to monitor. It also focused on a number of these parks located in areas which underwent a lot of changes and needed an increase in usage and versatility. Based on the selection criteria, the four target parks, Wojeong, Meongwhack, Dosan and Wicdunjimi children's park were selected. The Survey shows that 55.9% of park visitors visited a park to 'rest and take a walk' and used 'main facilities' meaning resting facilities like pergola and benches. In the nighttime, the number of park visitors is so few because of safety problems. 50% of users were satisfied with parks. It shows that there are many respondents who want to recompose these parks as places for light exercise, resting, meeting, and as community symbols. Generally, these target parks don't reach their full potential and they also do not play their proper roles because they are hampered by the constriction of the law. These stick to an outdated idea of what a park should be like without considering the actual and practical needs of city dwellers. When it comes to the remodeling and refurbishing of these parks we have to rethink the planning process so that these parks may be more versatile and practical in order to accommodate the radical changes of users and patterns of usage.

임베디드 기반의 보행자 안전을 위한 전자감응시스템 구현 (Implementation of the Electronic Sensor System for Pedestrian Safety Based on Embedded)

  • 일부 보행자의 경우 보행자 신호등이 적색임에도 불구하고 무단횡단을 하거나 차도에 내려서서 보행 신호를 기다리기도 한다. 이럴 경우 자칫하면 교통사고로 이어질 수 있다. 이에 적외선 센서를 이용하여 보행자가 차도로 진입할 경우 경고 안내 방송을 해주는 방식으로 채택해왔으나, 이 경우 교차로의 곡선형 횡단보도에는 설치가 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 카메라의 영상 검지 방식을 사용하여 보행자를 검지하는 방법에 대해 제안한다. 보행철주 상단에 설치된 카메라를 이용하여 이미지를 획득하고, 획득한 이미지를 이용하여 보행자 검지구간을 설정한다. 또한, 획득한 이미지에 대해 소벨( Sobel) 영상 처리 방식을 이용하여 변환하고 변환한 이미지를 다른 이미지와 비교하여 보행자 검지방법을 선택하였다. 이 영상 검지 방식을 사용하면 곡선형 횡단보도에서 보행자를 검지하는데 효과적이다.

사무소 건물의 거주밀도 분포와 피난시간 예측 (A Occupant Load Density and Computer Modelling of Evacuation time in Office Buildings)

  • 건물 화재 시 인명안전설계의 목표는 피난에 필요한 최소한의 시간을 확보하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 적정 피난 설계를 위하여 다음과 같은 내용을 연구하였다.-국내 사무소 건물의 거주밀도 분포를 조사 분석하였다. -고층 사무소 건물에서 대피훈련을 시행하여 예상 피난시간을 관측하였다. -피난전용 프로그램의 하나인 SIMULEX를 적용하여 컴퓨터 피난모델의 특성과 적용상의 한계를 연구하였다. -거주밀도와 파난시간과의 상관성을 분석하였다. 연구 결과 국내 사무소 건물의 거주밀도는 총 바닥면적(Gross Area)기준으로 13.14$m^2$/인 -22.69$m^2$/인이며 평균 19.72$m^2$/인 (193ft\sup 2\인)으로 조사되었다. (95% 신뢰도 기준) 또한 고층 사무소 건물의 대피훈련과 SIMULEX 모델 결과를 비교하여 피난시간에 큰 차이가 나타나 현 모델의 가정과 계산 방법에 한계가 있음을 보여주었다. 한편, 거주밀도와피난시간과의 분석 결과, 동일용도에서도 차이를 보이고 있어 용도별 거주밀도 기준 마련이 시급한 것으로 판단된다.

가상현실 대화용 가상걸음 장치의 지능제어 (Intelligent Control of a Virtual Walking Machine for Virtual Reality Interface)

  • This paper proposes intelligent control of a virtual walking machine that can generate infinite floor for various surfaces and can provide proprioceptive feedback of walking to a user. This machine allows users to participate in a life-like walking experience in virtual environments with various terrains. The controller of the machine is implemented hierarchically, at low-level for robust actuator control, at mid-level fur platform control to compensate the external forces by foot contact, and at high-level control for generating walking trajectory. The high level controller is suggested to generate continuous walking on an infinite floor for various terrains. For the high level control, each independent platform follows a man foot during the swing phase, while the other platform moves back during single stance phase. During double limb support, two platforms manipulate neutral positions to compensate the offset errors generated by velocity changes. This control can, therefore, satisfy natural walking conditions in any direction. Transition phase between the swing and the stance phases is detected by using simple switch sensor system, while human foot motions are sensed by careful calibration with a magnetic motion tracker attached to the shoe. Experimental results of walking simulations at level ground, slope, and stairs, show that with the proposed machine, a general person can walk naturally on various terrains with safety and without any considerable disturbances. This interface can be applied to various areas such as VR navigations, rehabilitation, and gait analysis.

Towards UAV-based bridge inspection systems: a review and an application perspective

  • Visual condition inspections remain paramount to assessing the current deterioration status of a bridge and assigning remediation or maintenance tasks so as to ensure the ongoing serviceability of the structure. However, in recent years, there has been an increasing backlog of maintenance activities. Existing research reveals that this is attributable to the labour-intensive, subjective and disruptive nature of the current bridge inspection method. Current processes ultimately require lane closures, traffic guidance schemes and inspection equipment. This not only increases the whole-of-life costs of the bridge, but also increases the risk to the travelling public as issues affecting the structural integrity may go unaddressed. As a tool for bridge condition inspections, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or, drones, offer considerable potential, allowing a bridge to be visually assessed without the need for inspectors to walk across the deck or utilise under-bridge inspection units. With current inspection processes placing additional strain on the existing bridge maintenance resources, the technology has the potential to significantly reduce the overall inspection costs and disruption caused to the travelling public. In addition to this, the use of automated aerial image capture enables engineers to better understand a situation through the 3D spatial context offered by UAV systems. However, the use of UAV for bridge inspection involves a number of critical issues to be resolved, including stability and accuracy of control, and safety to people. SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) is a technique that could be used by a UAV to build a map of the bridge underneath, while simultaneously determining its location on the constructed map. While there are considerable economic and risk-related benefits created through introducing entirely new ways of inspecting bridges and visualising information, there also remain hindrances to the wider deployment of UAVs. This study is to provide a context for use of UAVs for conducting visual bridge inspections, in addition to addressing the obstacles that are required to be overcome in order for the technology to be integrated into current practice.

모바일기기를 이용한 상황인식-흰지팡이 (Situation-awareness White Cane Using a Mobile Device)

  • 흰지팡이는 시각장애인이 보행을 위하여 사용하는 지팡이이다. 시각장애인의 보행 안전성을 향상시키기 위해 스마트 전자 흰지팡이에 대한 연구와 개발이 꾸준히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 흰지팡이와 모바일기기 간의 통신을 통해 시각장애인의 보행활동에 도움을 줄 수 있는 몇 가지 상황들에 대해 안내해주는 상황인식 흰지팡이의 개발내용에 대해 기술한다. 상황인식 흰지팡이에는 시각장애인이 손쉽게 누를 수 있는 형태로 버튼들이 설치되어 있고, 이를 누르면 시각장애인의 목에 걸려있는 스마트 모바일기기와의 블루투스 연동을 통해 상황인식 결과값을 음성으로 알림 받는다. 이를 통해 시각장애인의 보행 환경에 대한 불안전 요소를 감소시켜줄 수 있으며 그 결과 보행 안전성이 향상될 수 있을 것이다.

The reliability test of a smart insole for gait analysis in stroke patients

  • Background: This study analyzed the reliability of smart guides for gait analysis in patients with stroke. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The participants of the study were 30 patients with stroke who could walk more than 10 m and had an MMSE-K test score of ≥24. Prior to the experiment, the subjects or their guardians entered their demographic characteristics including gender, age, height, weight into the prepared computer. The experiment was conducted in a quiet, comfortable, and independent location, and the patient was reminded of the equipment description, precautions, and safety rules for walking. A smart insole was inserted into the shoes of the patients and the shoes were put on before the patients walked three times on the 5-m gait analysis system mat installed in the laboratory. Results: The reliability of the equipment was compared with that of the gait analysis system, and the results of this study are as follows: among the gait analysis items, velocity had an ICC=0.982, the cadence had an ICC=0.905, the swing phase on the side of the gait cycle had an ICC=0.893, the swing phase on the side of the gait had an ICC=0.839, that on the non-affected side had an ICC=0.939, single support on the affected side had an ICC=0.812, and support on the non-affected side had an ICC=0.767. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate no statistical difference between the smart insole and the gait analysis system. Therefore, it is believed that real-time gait analysis through smart insole measurement could help patients in rehabilitation.

한국 산업간호교육의 변화추세 분석 (Transition of Occupational Health Nursing Education in Korea)

  • In December 1990, Occupational Safety and Health Law was amended to reinforce employer's responsibilities on employees' health and safety. Among the amended law it was important to expand the role of an occupational health nurse to the role of an occupational health manager. An occupational health manager should take charge of coordinating periodic health examination and environmental hazard evaluation, providing primary care, monitoring employees' health status, giving the workplace walk-through, selecting safe protection equipment, providing health information, counseling and health education, independently. This position of occupational health nurse is equivalent to the role of doctors or occupational hygienists. In 1991, government made a master plan to prevent occupational disease and injury. Under the plan, Korea Industrial Nursing Association (KINA) was established in 1994 with the purpose of improving health services and upgrading career opportunities for members. Therefore, this study was designed to analyze the transition of occupational health nursing education with the changes of law and policy in Korea between 1991 and 1996. In details, it was to analyze the rate of school providing occupational health nursing practice based lecture, lecture hours, lecture contents in undergraduate curriculum, program contents of graduate school, kinds of continuing education, etc. For this purpose, we conducted survey two times. In February 1991, baseline study was conducted with all nursing programs in Korea (19 BSN programs and 43 nursing departments of junior college). From April to May in 1996, the second survey was conducted with all nursing programs (38 BSN programs and 69 junior colleges). The first response rate was 66.1% and the second was 40.6%. Structured questionnaires were mailed to the deans or the community health nursing faculties. In the case of graduate school, telephone survey was conducted with 10 school of public health or environmental health area. Data from the yearbook of Industrial Safety Training Institute (ISTI), the history of Korea Industrial Health Association, and the journals of KINA were also included in the analysis. As the results, we found that there were remarkable improvement in undergraduate and graduate programs, obligatory as well as voluntary continuing education in terms of occupational health nursing expertise between 1991 and 1996. 1) The number of school providing occupational health nursing practice-based lecture was increased with the rate from 7.3% to 25.6%. The rate of school giving over 15 class-hours was increased from 33.3% to 46.6%. 2) Content areas were composed of introduction of occupational health, occupational epidemiology, industrial hygiene, occupational disease and injury, law and policy, health education, concept of occupational health nursing, role of occupational health nurse, occupational health nursing process, etc. Of content areas, occupational health nursing process was more emphasized with the increased rate from 43.9% to 88.4%. 3) In the case of graduate school, occupational health programs were increased from 4 to 10. One of them has developed occupational health nursing program as an independent course since 1991. 4) The law increased educational hours from 28 hours to 36 hours for introductory course at the time of appointment, and from 14 hours to 24 hours every 2 years for continuing education. Course contents were Occupational safety and health law, introduction of occupational health, health education methodology, planning and evaluation, periodic health exam, occupational disease care, primary care, emergency care, management, industrial environment evaluation, etc. In 1996, Korea Industrial Nursing Association has begun to provide continuing education after Industrial Safety Training Institute. 5) Various educational programs in voluntary base were developed such as monthly seminar, CE articles, annual academic symposium, etc. It was shown that changes of law and policy led rapid growth of occupational health nursing education in various levels. From this trend, it is expected that occupational health nurse expertise be continuously to be enhanced in Korea. Legal and political supports should proceed for the development of occupational health nursing in early stage.

보행자 우선도로 개선 사업으로 인한 교통사고 변화에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Change of Traffic Accidents Around the Pedestrian Priority Zone)

  • 국내는 온실가스를 줄이고 보행자 중심의 친환경 도시를 지향하고자 일부지역에 보행자 우선지역을 시행하고 있다. 이는 대중교통 중심의 서비스 개선 및 여유로운 보행공간의 확보 측면에서 시민의 만족도가 높았으며, 친환경 교통수단의 도입으로 온실가스의 감축효과에 기여했다. 그러나 보행자 우선지역은 보행환경 개선 측면에는 영향력이 높지만 주변 교통흐름에는 악영향을 주는 만큼 시행에 따른 교통 환경 변화를 예측할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 수원시 행궁동 생태교통 지역을 중심으로 보행자 우선도로 시행에 따라 행사주변의 효과를 도출하기 위해 사전사후 평가를 활용한 교통사고 특성변화를 분석하였다. 분석결과 보행자 우선도로는 보행자 중심으로 설계되어 운영되는 만큼 보행자 관련 사고는 줄었으나, 차량의 회전교통 제한에 따른 불법유턴 사고 및 속도 저하에 따른 신호위반 사고가 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 각 지역에는 행사를 시행하기 전 운전자에게 각별한 주의가 요구되며, 행사구역 인근에 본 연구 특성이 반영된 안전표지판 및 어플 정보를 제공하여 교통사고에 유념할 필요가 있겠다.
