This paper describes research on mental commit robot that seeks a different direction from industrial robot, and that is not so rigidly dependent on objective measures such as accuracy and speed. The main goal of this research is to explore a new area in robotics, with an emphasis on human-robot interaction. In the previous research, we categories robots into four categories in terms of appearance. Then, we introduced a cat robot and a seal robot, and evaluated them by interviewing many people. The results showed that physical interaction improved subjective evaluation. Moreover, a priori knowledge of a subject has much influence into subjective interpretation and evaluation of mental commit robot. In this paper, 133 subjects evaluated the seal robot, Paro by questionnaires in an exhibition at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. This paper reports the results of statistical analysis of evaluation data.

Lead acetate solution were intraperitoneally injected to rats of average body weight 220g to cause lead poisoning. Antidotes were orally administered using catheter to the rats and the urine was collected after 24 hours. ALA in the urine were determined by U. V. spectrophotometer. Antidotes used in this experiment were the water extracts of scutellaria radix and D-penicillamine solution. ALA in the urine was determind by Wada method. It was found that ALA content in the urine was decreased after oral administration of water extracts of scutellaria radix and D-penicillamine solution. In this study it is believed that water extract of suctellaria radix could be used as an excellent antidate in lead poisoning.

Fourteen cases of funnel deformity, 11 were male and the others female, treated over a eleven-year period, are presented. The overall results with the methods described by the authors, Wada, Shannon, Adkins and Ravitch appear to be excellent. The symmetric depression was more common In children under the age of 12 years and asymmetric one Increased after the age of 12. Six cases of abnormal cardiac auscultatory findings revealed no consistent hemodynamic abnormalities. An 21-year-old female was associated with left lung agenesis and dextroversion of the heart, and a 6-year-old boy with congenital bronchogenic cyst who underwent right upper lobectomy. EKG changes associated with the anomaly were observed in all. Pulmonary function test showed the range from normal to moderate restriction which did not Improve in only one patient after operation, but the patient did not complain any restriction In activity. Some transient complications were developed which resulted in improvement.

One hundred cases of cardiac valve replacement were done at this Department in the period from June 1968 to May 15, 1978. Seventy-one cases of mitral, 12 aortic, and one tricuspd valve were replaced. There were 16 cases of double valve replacement, 10 aortic with mitral and 6 mitral with tricuspid valve replacement. Prosthetic valves-Beall, Bjoerk-Shiley, Starr-Edwards, Wada-Cutter, Magovern-Cromie, and Smeloff-Cutter valves-were used. But in recent years bioprosthetic valves-Hancock, Carpentier-Edwards, and Angell-Shiley valves-were used mainly due to the difficulties of postoperative anticoagulation, especially for the rural Korean patients. Over all operative mortality was 2896, 26.2% for single and 37.5% for double valve replacement cases. There were 4 postoperative thrombo-embolism cases with 2 deaths. Four postoperative subacute bacterial endocardities cases with 2 deaths were noted. Three cases of postoperative congestive heart failure succumbed. Two cases of peri valvular leakage, one of which needs reopration, were found. There were 28 operative and 9 late deaths, leaving 63 long-tel m survivors, who showed marked improvements.

Four patients with funnel chest deformity corrected in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Seoul National University Hospital are presented. The first case was a 21-year old female with cyanosis, clubbed fingers and systolic murmur on the left infrascapular region on physical examination associated with agenesis of the right lung. The deformity was of asymmetrical funnel chest, in which the left hemithorax was more sunken. She was corrected by the method of Funnel Costoplasty of Wada. The second case was a three years old boy whose anterior chest wall was symmetrically deformed, and he was corrected by the method of Ravitch using Adkins strut under the sternum. The third was a 22-year old man with symmetrical deformity, and was corrected by the method described by Shannon in 1973. The last patient was a 22-year old man and he had dyspnea on exertion, palpitation and apical systolic murmur with symmetrical funnel chest deformity. He was also corrected by Ravitch operation, All of them has excellent result.

In the study of normal (complex analytic) surface singularities, it is interesting to investigate the invariants. The purpose of this paper is to give a characterization of the vanishing of ${\delta}_2$. In [11], we gave characterizations of minimally elliptic singularities and rational triple points in terms of th.. second plurigenera ${\delta}_2$ and ${\gamma}_2$. In this paper, we also give a characterization of rational triple points in terms of a certain computation sequence. To prove our main theorems, we give two formulae for ${\delta}_2$ and ${\gamma}_2$ of rational surface singularities.

Two patients with funnel chest deformity corrected in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Korea University Hospital are presented. The first case was a 21 year old male suffering from exertional dyspnea and recurrent upper respiratory tract infection with asymmetrical funnel Chest deformity, which the hollow cavity was measured 250ml of water. He was corrected by Ravitch method. The result was uneventful. The second case was a 34 year old male with symmetrical and asymptomatic deformity which the hollow cavity was measured 45ml of water. He was corrected by the method of sternal turnover [Wada Method]. On postoperative 8th day, seroma was noted in subxiphoid space and followed secondary infection of the pseudomonas. So, the infected cartilages were resected and curetted. The result was uneventful.

Pectus excavatum is rare, but it is the most common type of sternal congenital disorder. There are many surgical methods to correct pectus excavatum such as the Ravitch method, Wada method, Silastic mold method, and the Nuss operation. We report a case of minimal invasive surgery for pectus excavatum using a polyvinyl alcohol sponge.

When seismic isolation system is applied to high aspect-ratio (height/wide-ratio) steel structures, there are several problems to be taken into consideration. One is lifting up tensile force on the isolation bearing by overturning moment caused by earthquake. Another is securing building stiffness to produce seismic isolation effects. Under these conditions, this paper reports the structural design of high-rise research building in the campus of Tokyo Institute of Technology. With the stepping-up system for the corner bearings, the narrow sides of single span framework are designed to concentrate the dead load as counter-weight for the tensile reaction under earthquake. Also we adopted concrete in-filled steel column and Mega-Bracing system covering four layers on north & south framework to secure the horizontal stiffness of the building.

멀티코드 CDMA 시스템은 비선형성 전력증폭기의 왜곡에 의해 영향을 많이 받는다. 이런 현상을 방지하기 위해서 멀티코드에서 전송신호의 레벨을 일정하게 하는 방법으로 프리코딩 방법과 Binary CDMA 방법이 제안되었다. 프리코딩은 정보 비트에 여유비트를 추가하여 코드간 직교성의 손실 없이 전송신호의 진폭을 일정하게 하는 방식으로 Wada 의 방법과 CS-CDMA 방법이 있다. Binary CDMA 시스템은 멀티레벨 신호를 이진 클리핑하여 전송하는 방법으로서, 클리핑에 의해 신호의 직교성이 감소하여 성능이 저하될 수 있다. 상관도 평활화 방법은 수신부의 상관도 값이 고르게 분포하도록 하여 Binary CDMA 의 성능을 향상시키는 방법이다. 본 논문 에서는 프리코딩 방식과 상관도 평활화를 적용한 Binary CDMA 방식을 소개하고 칩당 비트전송율과 BER 성능을 비교한다.
