Purpose - Online product review has become a crucial part of the online retailer's market performance for a wide range of products. This research aims to investigate how an individual reviewer's review frequency and timing affect her/his average attitude toward products. Research design, data, and methodology - To conduct reviewer-level analysis, this study uses 42,172 posted online review messages generated by 6,941 identified reviewers for 59 movies released in the South Korea from July 2015 to December 2015. This study adopts Tobit model specification to take into account the censored nature and the selection bias arising from the nature of J-shaped distribution of movie rating. Results - Our estimation results support that the negative impact of review frequency and timing on valence. Furthermore, review timing has an inverted-U relationship with the user's average valence and enhance the negative effect of review frequency. Conclusions - This study contributes to the growing literature on the understanding how eWOM is generated at the individual consumer level. On the basis of the main empirical findings, this study provides insights into building a recommendation system in online retail store based on the consumer's review history data - frequency, timing, and valence.
Social Network Service (SNS) has been played an important role in the life with the expansion of the modern technology in the cellular communication. More knowledge and understanding should be inevitable even if companies have taken advantage of SNS through word of mouth as one of the new paradigm. In most cases the crucial benefit or peculiarity of SNS has been overlooked because only general aspects of SNS have been applied in the online situation. As a result of this, same paradigm has been considered in reality as SNS was just used one of the marketing tools. However, essential aspects of SNS were investigated to see the relation of usage intention and word of mouth in this study. The hypothesis of the effect of continuous intention of the usage, trust and word of mouth was made and reviewed statistically. The statistical analysis showed there was significant among relationship, context, perceived service quality and continuous intention of the usage. In addition to that, self-expression, relationship, perceived service quality and trust were significant. Finally the continuous intention of the usage and word of mouth was significant as well. Based on this study, SNS provided by the companies could be effective to the customers in terms of word of mouth while different trend was shown in terms of trust.
The purpose of this study was to explore differences in determinants of loyalty, including years of loyalty and use of word-of-Mouth (WOM), across rural and urban apparel shoppers. The secondary data used for this study was collected by BIG research in their Consumer Intentions and Actions Study. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was conducted, and the results showed that four store attributes (fashionability, promotion, shopping environment, and retail basics) were positively related to store loyalty. Findings of the study also revealed that the effect of fashionability and retail basics on store loyalty differed significantly across rural and urban consumers while promotion and shopping environment were not different predictors of store loyalty between rural and urban apparel shoppers. Specifically, store attributes of fashionability were stronger antecedents of loyalty for women's clothing shoppers in urban areas than rural shoppers. The retail basics had a greater influence on store loyalty among women's apparel customers in rural areas than customers in urban areas.
Predicting a box office gross in the film industry is an important goal. Many works have analyzed the elements of a film making. Previous studies have suggested several methods for predicting box office such as a model for distinguishing people's reactions by using a sentiment analysis, a study on the period of influence of word-of-mouth effect through SNS. These works discover that a word of mouth (WOM) effect through SNS influences customers' choice of movies. Therefore, this study analyzes correlations between a box office gross and a ratio of people reaction to a certain movie by extracting their feedback on the film from before and after of the film opening. In this work, people's reactions to the movie are categorized into positive, neutral, and negative opinions by employing sentiment analysis. In order to proceed the research analyses in this work, North American tweets are collected between March 2011 and August 2012. There is no correlation for each analysis that has been conducted in this work, hereby rate of tweets before and after opening of movies does not have relationship between a box office gross.
Purpose: One of the characteristics of service companies such as foodservice franchise is that it is easy to imitate, so many brands can imitate the menu that is popular with consumers. Therefore, foodservice franchise company should develop a brand that customers can identify from other brands in order differentiate it from its competitors. In order make the foodservice franchise company identifiable from other brands, it is possible through communication with customers. Therefore, this study proposes a new research model to analyze customer loyalty through online advertising and online word of mouth trust and immersion. Online was provided to customers through a mixture of advertisements and word of mouth, but previous studies have only considered online advertisements or online word of mouth. In addition, we want to verify the difference according to gender, which is an important variable in researching the online information processing behavior of customers. Research design, data, and methodology: The questionnaire of this study was surveyed on 20 years of age or older who have visited the restaurant franchise store within the last 3 months among the foodservice franchise companies operating SNS. During the survey period, 400 surveys were surveyed for a total of 20 days from April 1 to April 20, 2020. Result: The research results are as follows. First, in this study, the effect of online advertisement and online word of mouth on trust and immersion was studied. Second, this study verified the social influence theory in online advertising and online word of mouth. Third, the effect of online advertising and online word of mouth on loyalty according to gender was verified. Fourth, compared to existing advertisements, online advertisements are suitable for marketing by foodservice franchise companies because they can interact with consumers, modify advertisements immediately, execute extensive advertisements at low cost, segment the market, and measure advertisement effectiveness. The recent online expansion has been expanded to mobile-based, allowing foodservice franchisees to provide new communication services such as SMS (Short Message Service), multimedia messaging services, and location-based services. Fifth, a foodservice franchise company can increase brand awareness through online marketing or induce the use of offline stores. Sixth, franchisor can grow into a sustainable company only when they use resources efficiently. Conclusions: Trust is important in foodservice franchise information. This trust has a significant impact on customer commitment and loyalty.
This study investigates the effect of consumer involvement in the relationship between customer satisfaction and loyalty (which is measured as consumers' repurchase and WOM intentions). Previous research has presented inconsistent implications on the role of consumer involvement in the relationship. Some researchers have presented the empirical results showing that consumer involvement moderates the relationship, whereas others have done the empirical results implying that the consumer involvement does not moderates. In sum, the previous empirical studies have provided the inconsistent empirical results that consumer involvement may be a moderator or a non-moderator in the relationship between customer satisfaction and loyalty. Thus, we start this research with two research questions: "Does consumer involvement has a moderation effect on the relationship between-customer satisfaction and loyalty across various service industries?" and "Can the moderation effect of consumer involvement be detected differently depending on the statistical methods used to probe the moderation effect?" A questionnaire survey was conducted in the context of four service categories: eight service firms for fast food, four firms for family restaurant, four firms for movie theater and four firms for Bakery. Hierarchical regression analyses (moderated regression analyses) and chi-square difference tests were used to identify the role of consumer involvement in the relationship between customer satisfaction and loyalty. The empirical results show that there does not exist the difference in the moderation effects of consumer involvement identified by the two statistical methods (i.e., hierarchical regression analyses vs. chi-square difference tests), however, that there exists the difference in the identified moderation effects of consumer across service categories. In the final section, we summarize the implications and re-interpret the empirical results provided in the previous studies.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect for information load on perceived information quality and website quality, and the relationships among perceived information quality, website quality and behavioral intentions in online apparel shopping contexts. The information load theory provided the theoretical framework for this study. The research strategy employed an online experimentation using an apparel mock website. The total of 647 responses were used for data analyses. The model of the study was tested by MANOVA and SEM. The results of MANOVA revealed the effect of information load on perceived information quality and website quality. The medium level of information load was perceived as having more positive information quality and website quality as compared to the low or high level of information load. The findings of SEM revealed the positive effect of information quality on website quailty, the positive effect of website quality on WOM and willingness to pay more, and the negative effect of website quailty on willingness to switch. Online apparel retailers and website designers need to manage information quantity and quality by understanding the importance of information load.
Despite the rapid reorganization of the center of consumption online, the fashion industry is still strengthening brand marketing using offline stores. This study investigates the psychological mechanisms of shopping flow by three mediators that influence the e-word of mouth(e-WOM) as a marketing performance variable in recent marketing. Data collection was conducted online for 241 women in their 20s and 30s. The significance of multi-mediated pathways was verified using Process 3.5 Model 6. The results for multiple mediation paths are as follows. First, the direct effect of shopping flow on brand advocacy was not significant. Second, analysis of the significance of the indirect effect via simple mediation found that the path mediated by shopping value in the path from the shopping flow to brand advocacy was significant. Third, analysis of the indirect effect by double mediation revealed all three double mediating effects of shopping flow on brand advocacy were significant(emotional response and shopping value, emotional response and store attachment, shopping value and store attachment). Fourth, analysis of the significance of the indirect effect by sequential multiple mediation established the indirect effect leading to emotional response, shopping value, and store attachment was significant. These results indicate that the operation of an experiential fashion store is not just a means for sales, but a communication tool that improves and promotes the brand advocacy by providing brand experience in a store.
Recently there have been an increasing number of companies suffering a negative brand image in the major media. Thompson et al. (2006) defined this as "$Doppelg{\ddot{a}}nger$ Brand Image." The images mentioned above have been created and propagated on Internet communities, which are one of the major paths of online spreading. This study will empirically analyze the effect of each $Doppelg{\ddot{a}}nger$ brand image on the customer's brand attitude, using a text-mining method focusing on "A company"'s case. This study will also cover the change in customer brand attitudes related to the company's correspondence in a situation in which the $Doppelg{\ddot{a}}nger$ brand image exists. In addition, the study will determine the presence of a priming effect after the spread of the $Doppelg{\ddot{a}}nger$ brand image. To that end, we collected 974 comments from 94,889 posts and A's official blogs related to A from B community, the largest automobile community site in Korea. Through this investigation, we obtained the following results. First, there was a significant difference in the ratio of negative sentiment of internet community before and after $Doppelg{\ddot{a}}nger$ brand image. Second, with regard to the topic modeling, the ratio of articles including negative topics increased and the other article ratio decreased over time. Finally, we found that there is a priming effect about negative brand image of "A company."

The purpose of this study is to analyze customers' behavior in using word-of-mouth(WOM) information about Korean local food restaurants. The questionnaire developed for this study was distributed to 500 customers living in Jeonbuk area and a total of 455 copies (91.0%) were used for analysis. The statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS Win(12.0). The results were summarized as follows. The recommendation of people experienced'($M=3.57{\pm}1.24$) and 'word-of-mouth through people around'($M=3.52{\pm}1.20$) were major word-of-mouth information sources of Korean local foods; 'taste of food'($M=4.16{\pm}1.15$) and 'service quality'($M=3.79{\pm}1.11$) were important attributes in word-of-mouth information. In addition, to the question about the reasons for recommending the restaurant to the people around, the most people replied that 'flavor, nutrition and quality of local foods can be kept only in the specific location' ($3.53{\pm}1.08$), followed by 'to keep the memory of the visit to the areas in mind through local foods'($3.51{\pm}1.03$). These results showed that people usually recommend a restaurant based on the quality of the food itself or local characteristics. As a result, it is deemed that word-of-mouth effect is an important factor for the spread of Korean local foods.
