  • This study used Jeju scoria to dye cotton fabric and measured its dyeability, colorfastness, antibacterial activity, deodorization efficiency, ultraviolet protection, and far-infrared emission. The cotton fabric was colored to yellowish red and optimal dyeing can be achieved at a temperature of $80^{\circ}C$ for a dyeing time of 120 minutes with a colorant concentration of 25%(o.w.b). The colorfastness to light, rubbing, perspiration, and washing was 8, 5, 5, and 4~5 ratings respectively, where the wash colorfastness remained after 15 wash cycles. The cotton fabric dyed with Jeju scoria demonstrated excellent antimicrobial activity to Staphylococcus aureus and high deodorization efficiency. Ultraviolet protection factor was as high as 50+. The Jeju scoria can be used as a new colorant for the natural dyeing of silk.

  • Cylinder machine usually gives more fiber orientation than fourdrinier and has limitation in machine speed because of fiber wash-off caused by centrifugal force when machine speed increases. This study aimed for the improvement of paper formation and productivity by setting an apron in vat inlet and by adjusting mould water head. Improvement of formation and increase of machine speed were achieved, which ultimately improve productivity. Installing an apron successfully decreased fiber wash-off. Fiber orientation and two-sideness of ash distribution became less severe. The proper adjustment of water head inside the cylinder mould proved to be an important factor not only in paper formation but also in decreasing paper two-sideness.

  • In this study, improving the wash and rubbing fastness of a natural coloring matter from Madder extract dyed on Tencel nonwoven. The cationic finishing agent(RBP), nonionic finishing agent(HPX) and mordant(PAW) were used to improving the color fastness. The two types(exhaustion and pad-dry-cure) finishing process were investigated with various finishing agent concentration. The color strength, wash and rubbing fastness of Tencel nonwoven dyed with Madder extract have been evaluated by various dye concentration and finishing agent. The exhaustion process treated with the cationic finishing agent(RBP) was effective to improving washing and rubbing fastness.

  • The effect of accumulated residual soils in wear and wash tests on yellowing of white dress shirt was studied. The test samples after repeated home laundry at 20 households for six months were measured residual soils, $\Delta$b*.As well as, correlation between residual soils and yellowing was also examined. As a result, residual soils increased with number of wear and wash cycles, a little decreased in using with enzyme detergent. The b* value of test samples with fluorescent whitening agent were distributed -12.850~0.291. Correlation coefficient between sebum soils, protein soils and $\Delta$b* was 0.98, 0.58. Ultimately, residual sebum soils have more higher correlation than residual protein soils. Hence, residual sebum soils have more effect on yellowing than residual protein soils. therefore, effective a device as improvement of laundry condition and textile development needs for decrease of sebum soils.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the residents' attitudes for the shared community space (SCS) according to various housing sizes (60㎠, 85㎠, 102㎠, 135㎠). The major findings are as follows: 1) The residents' overall trends for the SCS showed that the satisfaction rate and requirement rate according to housing size didn't show a significant difference, but there was a considerable difference among the using rates for each category of housing sizes. 2) The kinds of common facilities that residents required were recreational facilities, car-wash facilities, children's play centers, facilities for separation/sanitation for garbage and recyclable materials and lounging facilities in that order. The common facilities that require tenant-management were recreational facilities, car-wash facilities and lounging facilities in that order. The common facilities that require participation in tenant-management were study/reading facilities, recreational facilities and hobby/lecture facilities in that order. 3) With regard to the residents' needs, the tenant-management and participation in it, the kinds of common facilities were differentiated according to housing size (60㎠, 85㎠, 102㎠, 135㎠).

• Amur cork tree is natural basic and yellow dye largely used for dyeing on cotton. The most effective solvent for extract of berberine from amur cork tree was methanol. The dyeabilities of the colorant on cotton and the fastness of cotton fabrics dyed with amur cork tree extract were investigated. And according to the concentration, temperature and time of pre-treatment, K/S values, wash fastness and Hand Value of cotton fabrics dyed with amur cork tree extract were investigated. As a results, K/S values of dyed cotton fabrics were increased by Pre-treatment with chinese gallotannin and the optimum condition of chinese gallotannin treatment was 15%owf concentration at $60^\circ{C}$, 30min. The wash fastness was enhanced to 3.5 grades. There was no degradations of Hand Value of cotton fabrics treated with chinese gallotannin.

  • This research aimed at scrutinizing the comparative dyeability of some disperse dyes at low temperature on ultra-microfiber polyester, islands in the sea type (0.05 denier), which has claimed utmost fastness and improved uptake of dyeing. Comparisons of dyeability, such as rate of dyeing and color depth, on ultra-microfiber polyester were evaluated by H.T. exhaust dyeing method and followed by the test of rubbing fastness. To achieve high wet fastness, some commercial disperse dyes, Terasil WW and Megacron dyes, which have been recently launched for excellent wash fastness, have been examined compared with conventional disperse dyes, C.I Disperse Red 167 and C.I Disperse Orange 30.

  • Some phthalimidyl azo dyes containing N,N-diethyl or N,N-di($\beta$-methoxycarbonylethyl) group have been attempted to apply onto two kinds of polyurethane based materials and rationalize their dyeability and fastness comparing with those of some commercial disperse dyes. Phthalimidyl azo dye showed 66~98% of exhaustion yield at $120^{\circ}C$ by a conventional exhaust dyeing method. The dyeings were found to have a higher wash fastness with both fabrics in comparison with those of commercial dyes which indicates lower thermomigration and efficient alkali clearable properties of phthalimidyl ring and/or diester group during post-dyeing process.

  • For the slip resistance test of shower room floor, the "O-Y Pull Slip Meter method (O-Y·PSM)" regulated under KS M 3510. This test method uses cooking oil as a substitute of soapy water, and thus it does not reflect the real condition. In this study, on 10 types of floor material samples, the Coefficient of Slip Resistance Bath (CSR·B) on bare foot between 10 types of body wash solution and 6 types of SDS solution was compared. The body wash solution is a mixture of soap and water in 1:20 ratio. As a result, SDS 0.1% solution was the most suitable for a substitute of soapy water in shower.
