  • Since previous studies on the 3-dimensional earth pressure have been conducted focusing on the stability of wall, it is very difficult to find a study on the load transfer to the adjacent ground induced by the 3-dimensional active displacement. Therefore, in this study, we tried to find out the load transfer to the adjacent ground induced by the 3-dimensional active displacement depending on the size of rectangular wall which was defined by the aspect ratio, that is, the ratio of the height to the width of the wall. 3-dimensional model tests were performed in order to measure the distribution and the magnitude of load transfer to surrounding grounds. The transferred load was 17.9~30.6% less than the difference between the 3-dimensional active earth pressure and earth pressure at rest. The transferred load of both vertical and horizontal was maximum at the boundary of the active wall. The load transfer range depended on the normalized height of the active wall, and it was 0.67~1.29w in horizontal direction and 1.0~3.0h in vertical direction. The transferred load in horizontal was maximum at the height of the wall. As the aspect ratio increases the location of the maximum transferred load points becomes higher. The ratio of the transferred load area of 56~79% at 0.25w in horizontal direction and 50~58% at 1.0~1.5 in vertical direction. Diagrams showing the distribution and the magnitude of the transferred load depending on the aspect ratio were suggested.

  • This study is to develop a 1kW-class horizontal axis wind turbine(HAWT) rotor blade which will be applicable to relatively low wind speed regions in southwest islands in Korea. Shape design of 1kW-class small wind turbine rotor blade is carried out using a blade profile with relatively high lift to drag ratio by blade element momentum theory(BEMT). Aerodynamic analysis on the newly designed rotor blade is performed with the variation of tip speed ratio. Power coefficient and pressure coefficient of the designed rotor blade are investigated according to tip speed ratio.

  • An ejector is a fluid machinery to be utilized for mixing fluids, maintaining vacuum, and transporting them. The Ejector is applied for a variety of industrial fields such as refrigerators and power plants. It is adopted to recycle anode off gas safely in 5kW Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell system of KEPRI(Korea Electric Power Research Institute). The ejector is placed at mixing point between the anode off gas and the cathode off gas or the fresh air. In this study, the entrainment ratio is measured according to the diametrical ratio of nozzle to throat. In addition, the performance curve of the ejector and the differential pressure in diffuser is observed.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate on the measurement of stress due to autogenous shrinkage of high strength concrete according to the W/C ratio at early age. The main parameters are as follows W/C ratio is 25, 30, 40%. The size of specimen is 10$\times$10$\times$150cm and the autogenous shrinkage strain is measured by the bonded strain gauge at the inside of the specimens. From the test, it is suggested that the autogenous shrinkage stress increased as W/C ratio decreased.

  • Recently, the concern for mechanical properties at early age concrete are increasing because of the importance of the thermal stress and the determination of removal time of form work and prestressing work. In this study, an estimation for the development of compressive strength and elastic modulus with age in concretes isothermally cured $(10^{\circ}C,\;20^{\circ}C)$ and having W/C ratio of 30, 40, and $50\%$ were investigated. According to experiment results, the development of compressive strength and elastic modulus shows higher values at early ages as the W/C ratio decreases and curing temperature increases. When the maturity concept, for estimation of the strength, is adopted, a modification for W/C ratio is required at early ages.

  • Hydraulic efficiency($T_{10}/T$) in clearwell is often estimated by L/W ratio. However, this estimation is not accurate because other factors which give an effect on hydraulic efficiency such as shape of basin, diffuser wall and intra-basin is ignored. Therefore, in this research, hydraulic efficiency is predicted by the quantitative analysis of dead zone using CFD simulation in a pilot scale clearwell. The results show that the reason why higher L/W ratio increase the hydraulic efficiency is to decrease the dead zone of linear region which is located between baffles. Diffuser wall or intra-basin also affects on hydraulic efficiency with this process. Also, we conclude that hydraulic efficiency can not be reached to 0.8 or higher.

  • In order to investigate the mechanical properties such as tensile, bending, shearing, thickness and weight of the wool fabrics were measured by KES-F system. Samples were classified into blend ratio, weave type, fabric count. Blend ratio was classified into two groups, which are P/W blended fabric (p=63~65%, w=35~37%) and all wool fabric. Weave type was classified into four groups, which are plain, 3 harness twill, 4harness twill, satin. Cloth count was classified into three groups, which are loose, medium, tight. Statistical analysis was performed using T-test, F-test. The results were as follows; 1. There was significant difference in the thickness, tensile, bending, shearing according to the blend ratio. 2. According the weave, there was significant difference in the bending, weight and thickness in the P/W blended fabrics. There was significant difference in the tensile, weight, thickness, bending, shearing, shearing hysterisis (2HG) in the all wool fabrics. 3. There was significant difference in the shearing properties according to the fabric count.

  • It was investigated that the effects of surfactant to cosurfactant ratio on the stability and rheological properties of o/w microemulsion. The stability of microemulsion was good in the surfactant to cosurfactant ratio 20/40 - 30/30. In the point of rheological properties, a yield stress meande the inner structure formation was detected and the area of hysteresis loop was increased with increasing of surfactant content of the ratio. The microemulsion prepared by the Microfluidizer was characterized by rheopetic.

  • The maturity concept was adopted to predict the strength of concrete, which was subjected to same temperature conditions and variable curing conditions. Penetration test and compressive test were conducted to measure the initial and final setting time and the compressible strength of concrete specimen, respectively. Also, the temperature and time were recorded at some intervals of time for calculating the maturity. The initial and final setting were delayed as the w/c ratio increased and curing temperature decreased. The activating energy decreased as the w/c ratio increased. The relationships at the relative strength and the maturity were proposed at different w/c ratio for the same temperature curing condition, and these were applied for the variable curing conditions. The results indicated that the difference between the strength of the proposed and the specimen was big at 1 days's age but quite similar after 3 day's age.

  • Corrosion of reforcement is the main cause of damage and early failure of reinforced concrete structures. The corrosion is mainly progressed by the chloride ingress. In this paper, an experimental study is executed to investigate the effect of concrete properties and testing method on the coefficient of chloride diffusion. Also, it is compared that the relationship between total chloride and free chloride in concrete. According to this experiment results, w/c ratio and testing method effect on chloride diffusion coefficient of concrete. As w/c ratio is increased, diffusion coefficient in concrete is also increased. Diffusion coefficient obtained by each testing method show the different value, respectively. Also, the content of free chloride in 7days curing concrete is increased as w/c ratio is increased.
