  • The bioavailabilities of baicalin in water, oil, w/o and o/w emulsion were evaluated in rats. The dissolution rate of baicalin in o/w emulsion was smaller than those of w/o form in dilute hydrochloric acid solution (pH 1.2) and in PBS (pH 6.8). The absorption rate of baicalin from w/o emulsion was smaller than that of o/w emulsion in the different parts of rat intestine of the rats. Following oral administration in rats, the $C_{max}$ of baicalin from water phase, oil phase, o/w wand w/o emulsion were 2.11, 0.61, 1.57, and $1.35\;{\mu}g/ml$, respectively. The relative bioavailability of w/o emusion was 129 % when it was compared with water phase. This result suggests that the improvement of bioavailability for baicalin in w/o emulsion might be practically available.

  • In this study, we examined the effects of molecular weight, concentrations and treat the duration of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) in vitro maturation (IVM) medium (Experiment 1), and the effect of PVP in IVM, in vitro fertilization (IVF) and in vitro culture (IVC) medium on the development and cell number of porcine embryos (Experiment 2). The base mediums were NCSU 23 solution for IVM, mTBM solution for IVF and PZM3 solution for IVC. In experiment 1, the development rates to 2 cell and blastocyst stage were not differ from the different molecular weight (MW), concentration and duration of PVP in IVM medium. However, the hatching rate of blastocyst was significantly higher in the group of MW 40,000, 0.5% and $0{\sim}44hr$ than in the other groups (p<0.05). In experiment 2, the results of IVM, IVF and IVC medium with (W) or without (W/O) 0.5% MW 40,000 PVP are follows. The development rate to 2 cell stage was highest in the group of W-W/O-W (p<0.05). The development rate to blastocyst and hatching rate was higher in the group of W-W/O-W and W-W/O-W/O than that of other treatments (p<0.05).

  • [ $CeO_2$ ]has been widely used for single buffer layer of coated conductor because of superior chemical and structural compatibility with $ReBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$(Re=Y, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Ho, etc.). But, the surface of $CeO_2$ layer showed cracks because of the large difference in thermal expansion coefficient between metal substrate and deposited $CeO_2$ layer, when thickness of $CeO_2$ layer exceeds 100 nm on the biaxially textured Ni-3%W substrate. The deposition rate has been limited to be less than 6 $\AA$/sec in order to get a good epitaxy. In this research, we deposited $CeO_2$ single buffer layers on biaxially textured Ni-3%W substrate with 2-step process such as thin nucleation layer(>10 nm) with low deposition rate(3 $\AA$/sec) and thick homo epitaxial layer(>240 nm) with high deposition rate(30 $\AA$/sec). Effect of deposition temperature on degree of texture development was tested. Thick homo epitaxial $CeO_2$ layer with good texture without crack was obtained at $600^{\circ}C$, which has ${\Delta}{\phi}$ value of $6.2^{\circ}$, ${\Delta}{\omega}$ value of $4.3^{\circ}$ and average surface roughness(Ra) of 7.2 nm within $10{\mu}m{\times}10{\mu}m$ area. This result shows the possibility of preparing advanced Ni substrate with simplified architecture of single $CeO_2$ layer for low cost coated conductor.

  • The addition of water into oil phase containing hydrophobic emulsifier while stirring forms W/O emulsions. When dispersed phase increase up to a certain extent, phase inversion into O/W emulsions occurs and just before phase inversion O/W/O emulsions exist in a mixed state with W/O emulsions. Thus this experiment was carried out to examine O/W/O emulsions formation in W/O emulsions. The viscosity of sample emulsions(water phase: $H_2O$, oil phase : TGCR-containing olive oil) was measured at the shear rate of 1.92 to 384 per second and at temperature of 25$\pm$0.1$^{\circ}C$, and the development of O/W/O emulsions evaluated from the difference between theoretical and measured values by substituting measured value for Mooney's equation. The formation of O/W/O emulsions tended to be high in sample emulsions just before phase inversion and increase with decreasing TGCR concentrations. This result suggests that high viscosity observed right before phase inversion may also be caused by the formation of O/W/O emulsions.

  • In this paper, we controlled the deposition rate and reflective index with process conditions that are TCP power, gas flow ratio and bias for optical properties of $SiO_2$ thin film using TCP-CVD equipment. We obtained a excellent $SiO_2$ thin film which has a excellent uniformity (<1 [%]), deposition rate (0.28 [${\mu}m$/ min]) and reflective index (1.4610-1.4621) within 4" wafer with process conditions ($SiH_4:O_2$=50 : 100 [sccm], TCP power 1 [kW], bias 200 [W]) at [$300^{\circ}C$].

  • The effect of a novel delivery system, water in oil emulsion containing chitosan hydrogel as a inner phase (W/O-C) was evaluated, and the relationships between the skin permeation, the skin primary irritation and the skin turnover rate of AHAs were discussed. We selected glycolic acid (GA), lactic acid (LA), malic acid (MA), and tartaric acid (TA) as model AHAs. The steady state fluxes of 4 AHAs across the excised hairless mouse skin increased as the molecular weights of the AHAs decreased. (GA>LA>MA>TA). The skin turnover times were shortened in all AHAs, compared with control. The skin permeation and the skin primary irritation of the LA decreased and the skin turnover time increased, as the pH increased. The maximum therapeutic index was obtained with pH 3.8, 0.5 M LA. It was suggested that the skin permeability of LA might be a main factor for prediction of the skin irritation and the skin turnover time. On the other hand, the W/O-C containing pH 3.8, 0.5 M LA indicated a good sustained release property of LA, compared with water in oil emulsion without chitosan hydrogel (W/O) or oil in water emulsion (O/W). The skin permeability and the skin irritation of AHAs from the W/O-C edcreased, compared with W/O or O/W, however the skin turnover time showed almost the same value as W/O or O/W. In conclusion, we suggest that the control of the skin permeation of AHAs would be an important tool for reducing the skin irritation and for maintaining the positive effect of AHAs, and the W/O-C system could be a potential candidate for future cosmetological application of AHAs.

  • ZnO thin films were deposited using Diethylzinc and $N_{2}O$ gas by plasma enhanced CVD (PECVD) at low substrate temperatures below $300^{\circ}C$. The effect of deposition parameters on the growth rate and the structural properties was determined at various deposition conditions. Crystallized ZnO thin films were successfully deposited even at $150^{\circ}C$ of substrate temperature. Above $200^{\circ}C$ c-axis oriented ZnO thin films, of which a standard deviation of X-ray rocking curve was less than $6^{\circ}$. were deposited on glass substrates. The variation of deposition rate showed different trends depending on substrate temperature and rf-input power. According to the deposition rate behavior as a function of substrate temperature, the transition points were observed resulting from crystallization of ZnO thin films. The activation energies for the deposition of ZnO thin films were 3.1KJ/mol and 1.9KJ/mol for the rf powers of 200W and 250W, respectively.

  • Deep trench etching of silicon was investigated as a function of RF source power, DC bias voltage, $C_4F_8$ gas flow rate, and $O_2$ gas addition. On increasing the RF source power from 300 W to 700 W, the etch rate was increased from $3.52{\mu}m/min$ to $7.07{\mu}m/min$. The addition of $O_2$ gas improved the etch rate and the selectivity. The highest etch rate is achieved at the $O_2$ gas addition of 12 %, The selectivity to PR was 65.75 with $O_2$ gas addition of 24 %. At DC bias voltage of -40 V and $C_4F_8$ gas flow rate of 30 seem, We were able to achieve etch rate as high as $5.25{\mu}m/min$ with good etch profile.

  • Recently, the fabrication process of W-Cu nanocomposite powders has been researched to improve the sinterability by mechanochemical process (MCP), which consists of ball milling and hydrogen-reduction with W- and Cu-oxide mixture. However, there are many control variables in this process because the W oxides are hydrogen-reduced via several reduction stages at high temperature over 80$0^{\circ}C$ with susceptive reduction conditions. In this experiment, the W-15 wt%Cu nanocomposite powder was fabricated with the ball-milling and hydrogen-reduction process using W and CuO powder. The microstructure of the fabricated W-Cu nanocomposite powder was homogeneously composed of the fine W particles embedded in the Cu matrix. In the sintering process, the solid state sintering was certainly observed around 85$0^{\circ}C$ at the heating rate of 1$0^{\circ}C$/min. It is considered that the solid state sintering at low temperature range should occur as a result of the sintering of Cu phase between aggregates. The specimen was fully densified over 98% for theoretical density at 120$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 h with the heating rate of 1$0^{\circ}C$/min.

  • The bark of Alnus japonica has been used for the treatment of fever, hemorrhage and diarrehea in oriental traditional medicine. Recently, it was revealed that the diarylheptanoids from the bark of Alnus japonica possess anti-inflammatory activity and are expected to be applicable for atopic dermatitis. In this study, oregonin, one of major active components in the bark of Alnus japonica, was developed in the form of semisolid formulations for topical delivery. Oregonin was incorporated into four ointment bases: O/W cream, W/O cream, hydrophilic ointment and lipophilic ointment. Oregonin release from all formulation prepared was evaluated. Franz cell method and immersion method were employed to characterize the release patterns of drug from each formulation based on solvent availability. O/W cream showed a better release profile than the other formulations when evaluated with Franz cell method with an order of O/W cream, hydrophilic ointment, W/O cream and lipophilic ointment. In the immersion method, hydrophilic ointment showed the greatest release rate at times 1 hour exceeding compared to other bases with an order of hydrophilic ointment, O/W cream, W/O cream and lipophilic ointment. Hydrophilicity and solvent availability of formulation seems to significantly influence the release rate of oregonin from ointment bases. In this study, we successfully characterized the oregon in ointment and found that o/w cream is a promising formulation for the topical delivery of oregonin.
