폐경기 여성의 항산화 비타민 영양 상태와 혈중 지질 및 MDA 농도와의 관계 (Correlation of the Nutritional Status of Antioxidant Vitamins and Serum Lipids and MDA Levels in Postmenopausal Women)

  • This study investigated the correlation of the nutritional status of antioxidant vitamins and serum lipids and MDA levels in postmenopausal women. Data about general characteristics, dietary intakes and biochemical parameters, including serum lipids, MDA and antioxidant vitamins levels, were collected from 85 postmenopausal women. The subjects were classified into three groups according to their serum total cholesterol level: normocholesterolemia group (NC, < 200 mg/dL), moderate hypercholesterolemia group (MC, $200{\sim}239mg/dL$) and hypercholesterolemia group(HC, ${\geq}240mg/dL$). The results are as follows. 1) General characteristics and serum MDA levels were not significantly different among the three groups. 2) Daily nutrients intakes adjusted to energy intake were not significantly different among the three groups, and were compatible with dietary reference intakes (DRIs) for Koreans. 3) Dietary Vt. A, ${\beta}-carotene$, Vt. C and Vt. E intake were not significantly different among the groups, while Vt. E intake was positively related with serum TC (r=0.288, p<0.05) and triglyceride (r=0.341, p<0.001) levels. 4) Serum Vt. A level standardized by serum TC level was significantly low and serum Vt. E level was significantly high in the HC group. Serum Vt. E level was positively related with serum TC level (r=0.389, p<0.001). 5) Dietary Vt. E intake was negatively correlated to serum MDA level (r=-0.242 p<0.05). Serum Vt. C and Vt. E levels were also negatively correlated to serum MDA level (r=-0.312, p<0.001 and r=-0.299, p<0.05). When the correlation was analyzed only in the group with hypercholesterolemia, correlation coefficients between the antioxidant vitamin and serum MDA level were higher. We concluded that intakes of antioxidant vitamins can contribute to decreasing the risk of cardiovascular disease by decreasing the oxidative stress of body rather than by controlling serum lipid levels.

  • The effect of HWANSODAN(HSD), on the level of brain antioxidants was examined in aged rat. The experimental groups were divided into three groups and treated as follows ; normal group(negative control), Vt.E administrated Group(HSD). The purified microsome from brain tissue, those were measired the amounts of oxidant materials like Malonfialdehyde(MDA) and H2O2, then activities of antioxidants enzymes like superoxide dismutase, catalase, NADPH-cytochrome P-450 reductase.The results were as follows;1. In TBA reaction to measure the amount of MDA, HSD group and Vt.E group did not showed signigicant decrease.2. In the formation of Hydrogen peroxide, HSD group and Vt.E group showed a little increase.3. The activity of Superoxide dismutase was increased significantly in HSD group and Vt.E group.4. In the activity of Catalase, Vt.E group was increased significantly and HSD group a little increased. 5. The activity of NADPH-cytochrome P-450 reductase in the HSD group and Vt.E group showed significantly increase.According to the above results, it is suggested that HWANSODAN(HSD) has some antioxidant effects on the tissue of brain.

u-VTS를 위한 국내 관제센터의 센서 및 정보융합 관제 요구사항 수렴 및 분석

  • 최근 국제적으로 e-Navigation을 지향한 해상안전에 대한 국제적 기술개발 및 표준화가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 이러한 국제적 변화와 더불어 국내에서도 차세대 해상교통관제기술개발의 필요성이 제기되어 왔으며, 최근 차세대 VTS를 위한 기술개발이 진행중에 있다. 그러나 차세대 VTS(u-VTS)는 국내 환경에서 적용하기 위하여 차별화된 기술이 적용되어야 하고, 이는 국내 VTS 센터로부터 요구사항을 수렴하여 이를 시스템 개발에 적용하는 것이 바람직하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 차세대 VTS인 u-VTS의 요구사항을 정의하기 위하여 국내 15개 관제센터로부터 요구사항을 수렴하고, 이를 분석한 결과를 제시하고자 한다. 또한, 국내 뿐만 아니라 해외 e-Navigation 요구사항까지 분석하여, 차세대 VTS의 서비스 및 시스템 요구사항을 정의하는 것이 필요하다.

  • 국제수로기구는 수로정보의 표준화와 활용성 증진을 위해 ISO 19100 시리즈 GIS 표준을 수로분야로 확장한 S-100 표준을 수립하고, 이를 기반으로 한 S-10X 표준을 개발 중에 있다. 국제해사기구는 해사안전과 해양환경 보호를 위해 e-Navigation 전략을 추진 중에 있으며, e-Navigation 전 분야에 대한 정보화 표준 모델인 CMDS를 정의하고 S-100 표준을 기반으로 개발할 계획이다. e-Navigation 전략 추진 대상 영역을 해상부분, 네트워크부분, 육상부분으로 구분할 수 있는데, VTS는 육상 관제센터로서의 핵심적인 역할을 수행하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 S-100 표준 도입이 국제해사기구의 e-Navigation 전략을 통해 VTS에 미치는 영향에 대해 분석하였고, 향후 우리나라 VTS가 e-Navigation 전략 하에서 업무 고도화 및 기능개선을 위한 수로분야 협력방안을 제안하였다.

  • 해상교통관제 시스템(VTS)는 선박 통항의 안전과 효율을 증진시키고 해상 환경을 보호하는 매우 중요한 역할을 하는 시스템으로서, 최근 국제적으로 e-Navigation을 지향한 최신 IT기술을 반영한 새로운 패러다임 형태로 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 이러한 국제적 변화와 더불어 국내에서도 차세대 VTS 개발이 진행되고 있으며, 물표 추적 및 융합 알고리즘의 국내 환경을 고려한 기술개발 필요성이 제기되어 왔다. 따라서 국내 환경에서 차세대 VTS를 개발하기 위한 추적 및 융합 알고리즘을 설계하고 이를 적용하기 위한 시뮬레이터를 통하여 국내 VTS 센터로부터 추적 및 융합 요구사항을 검증하고자 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 차세대 VTS인 u-VTS의 추적 및 융합 요구사항을 검증하기 위하여 시뮬레이터를 구성하고, 이를 통하여 추적 및 융합 성능을 분석하였다.

국내 유통식품에서 분리된 Verotoxin 생성 Escherichia coli의 특성 (Characterization of Verotoxin-producing Escherichia coli Isolated from Domestic Foods)

  • 국내 유통식품에서 verotoxin(VT)을 생성하는 대장균의 오염도를 조사하고 이로 인한 식중독의 발생을 사전에 예방하기 위하여 1997년부터 1999년 사이 햄버거. 식육 및 채소류에서 VT생성 대장균의 분포조사를 실시하였으며, 이 결과 분리된 대장균에 대한 분자생물학적 특성을 조사하였다 식육, 햄버거 및 채소류 총 1,700건의 식품 중에서 VT를 생성하는 대장균이 검출된 것은 3건으로 매우 낮은 검출율을 보였는데, 분리주의 혈청형은 각각 026 : H4, 0157 : H7 및 055 : Hl2였다. 혈청형 026 : H4 분리주는 VT I과 VT II를 생성하였고,055 : Hl2주는 VT I을 각각 생성하였으며, 두 분리주에서 eae유전자와 60 MDa plasmid DNA는 검출되지 않았다. 혈청형 0157 : H7주는 VT II를 생성하였고 60 MDa plasmid DNA는 검출되었으나 eae유전자는 확인되지 않았다. 따라서 분리된 VT생성 대장균들은 eae 유전자가 검출되지 않아 질병유발 가능성은 낮은 것으로 추정되었다. 항생제 내성능에서 혈청형 0157 : H7 분리주는 ampicillin과 streptomycin에 내성을 나타낸 반면, 혈청형 026 : H4주와 혈청형 055 : Hl2주는 ampicillin, carbenicillin, cephalothin, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole과 tetracycline에 내성을 보여 분리주의 다재내성능을 확인하였다 세포배양액으로 실시한 vero cell과 HeLa cell에 대한 세포독성능은 3주의 분리주에서 확인되었다.

Efficient Tracking of Speech Formant Using Closed Phase WRLS-VFF-VT Algorithm

  • In this paper, we present an adaptive formant tracking algorithm for speech using closed phase WRLS-VFF-VT method. The pitch synchronous closed phase methods is known to give more accurate estimates of the vocal tract parameters than the pitch asynchronous method. However the use of a pitch-synchronous closed phase analysis method has been limited due to difficulties associated with the task of accurately isolating the closed phase region in successive periods of speech. Therefore we have implemented the pitch synchronous closed phase WRLS-VFF-VT algorithm for speech analysis, especially for formant tracking. The proposed algorithm with the variable threshold(VT) can provide a superior performance in the boundary of phone and voiced/unvoiced sound. The proposed method is experimentally compared with the other method such as two channel CPC method by using synthetic waveform and real speech data. From the experimental results, we found that the block data processing techniques, such as the two-channel CPC, gave reasonable estimates of the formant/antiformant. However, the data windows used by these methods included the effects of the periodic excitation pulses, which affected the accuracy of the estimated formants. On the other hand the proposed WRLS-VFF-VT method, which eliminated the influence of the pulse excitation by using an input estimation as part of the algorithm, gave very accurate formant/bandwidth estimates and good spectral matching.

  • Three and 2 strains of E coli O157 were isolated from fecal materials of cattle (390) and pigs (420) in Korea, respectively. One strain of O157:H7 isolated from cattle and 2 strains of O157:H7 isolated from pigs were identified as verotoxin-1 (VT-1) produing strains and 2 strains (O157:H7 and O157:H-) isolated from cattle were identified as verotoxin-2 (VT-2) producing strains by neutralization test on HeLa and Vero cells. Culture supernatants of the isolates were cytotoxic to HeLa and Vero cells. The levels of cytotoxin produced by isolates were $10^2{\sim}10^4$ cytotoxic dose($CD_{50}$)/ml. Also, VT-2-converting bacteriophage was isolated from KSC109 strain which had been isolated from cattle. Molecular weight of the phage DNA was determined as approximately 45 Kb in 0.8% agarose gel electrophoresis, and morphology of the phage stained with phosphotungstic acid was observed by transmissible electron microscopy.

Effect of $\alpha$-Tocopherol and $\beta$-Carotene Supplementation on Oxidative Damage by Lipid Oxidation in Rat Liver

  • The effect of ${\alpha}$-tocopherol and ${\beta}$-carotene supplementation on reducing the oxidative damag in the liver of rats were studied. Forth-five male Sprague Dawley aged 4 weeks were randomly assigned to 9 groups of five for the 12 weeks of the study. Nine groups, sardine oil, sardine oil+Vt E, sardine oil+${\beta}$-carotene, soybean oil, soybean oil+Vt E, soybean oil+${\beta}$-carotene, lard, lard+Vt E, lard+${\beta}$-carotene group, were prepared. Sardine oil, soybean oil, or lard was used for dietary fat and 200% of ${\alpha}$ -tocopherol or 150% of ${\beta}$-carotene was supplemented to each diet. Each diet supplied 65% of total energy as carbohydrate, 15% as protein, and 20% as lipid. The MDA value and protein carbonyl contents of sardine oil group were significantly different(p<0.05) to those of other fat groups indicating that the most severe lipid oxidation occurred in the group fed diet containing highly polyunsaturated fatty acid. When ${\alpha}$-tocopherol or ${\beta}$ -carotene was supplemented to the sardine oil diet, MDA value(-35%, -15%, respectively) and protein carbonyl content(-44%, -32%, respectively) decreased significantly(p<0.05). Cu, Zn-superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase activities of three different sardine oil groups with or without antioxidants were lower than those of soybean oil or lard group. The reducing effect of ${\alpha}$-tocopherol on oxidative damage in sardine oil group supplemented with ${\alpha}$-tocopherol was noticeable(p<0.05). However the adverse effect of ${\beta}$-carotene was observed. SOD and catalase activities of ${\beta}$-carotene supplemented groups were that the lowest among the same fat groups, but the differences were not statistically significant. The possible cause of decreased enzyme activity seemed to be related to the vitamin A(Vt A) toxicity in the liver where retinol converted from dietary ${\beta}$-carotene in the intestinal mucosa was stored.

Evaluation of Antioxidant Effects of Vitamins C and E Alone and in Combination with Sorghum Bran in a Cooked and Stored Chicken Sausage

  • To evaluate the antioxidant effects of vitamin C, vitamin E and sorghum bran, alone or in combination on chicken sausages, 9 kg of chicken thigh meat was prepared. All thigh meat was divided into seven different batches as follows; no antioxidant (CON); vitamin C (VTC), vitamin E (VTE) or sorghum bran (SOR) at 0.02%; or three different combination ratios of vitamin C, vitamin E and sorghum bran at 0.02% (VT2, 2:1:1; VT4, 4:1:1; VT6, 6:1:1). All cooked sausages were stored at $4^{\circ}C$, and six sausages per treatment were used for chemical analysis on five different storage days. As the addition of vitamin E was increased, sausages stored for 10 d had decreased redness; thereby, VTE showed the lowest CIE $a^*$ (p<0.05). Sausages mixed with vitamins and sorghum bran combinations had lower peroxide and free fatty acid values (p<0.05) when compared to sausages without antioxidants. The TBARS were the lowest in sausages containing vitamin C, vitamin E and sorghum bran at 6:1:1 ratio, and they significantly differed to CON, VTC and SOR treatments (p<0.05). Therefore, our results suggest that meat mixed with vitamins and sorghum bran had more antioxidant activity than the meat mixed with only antioxidant vitamins or without antioxidants.
