  • This study was conducted to develop a stem volume table for the Robinia pseudoacacia using stem taper equations. Specifically, Kozak's model was used in the estimation of each model parameter. The fitness of the estimated model was statistically verified and results of the residual analysis were found significant. Therefore, this model is considered applicable in the preparation of stem volume table for R. pseudoacacia. Furthermore, volume with bark and without bark table were developed based on the bark thickness estimation equation. The bark thickness estimation equation was also statistically significant, The stem volume table developed for R. pseudoacacia, which was first in Korea, is vital in managing these forests.

  • This study was conducted to provide data and stem information to establish a local volume table of Cryptomeria japonica in Jeju Island. Stem analysis was performed on 26 trees by selecting two average trees from each site of the 13 plots of C. japonica stands in 2021 and 2022. During the analysis stage, one outlier tree was rejected, and a total of 260 observations of the specific stem height of 25 trees were used. Of the seven major taper equation models applied for parameter estimation and statistical verification, the Muhairwe 1999 model was found to be the best fit and selected as the optimal model. Stem shape-related estimates were acquired through the selected model, and sectional measurements according to the Smalian formula applied at an interval of 10 cm from the height of the stem were used to develop a volume table. A paired t-test comparison between the C. japonica volume obtained from the present study and those selected from the current yield table by NIFoS(2020), revealed significant differences (p<0.05), highlighting the necessity of a local volume table for C. japonica in Jeju Island.

  • In this study, it was intended to prepare a stem volume table (with or without bark) and a stand yield table for Juglans mandshurica, plantations in Chungju, located in Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea. For the calculation of stem volume, we applied Kozak's growth model, which showed the best fitness index (97%). With this model, it was able to prepare the first yield table for Juglans mandshurica in Korea. Site index model, an indicator of forest productivity, was derived by using the Chapman-Richard model, in which the basic stand age was set to 30 years. The resulted site index ranged between 16 and 22. Based on the yield table of Juglans mandshurica resulted from this study, the volume for a 70-year-old stand with a midium site index class was estimated to be $238m^3/ha$, which is $100m^3/ha$ higher than the volume estimated from the yield table of Quercus acutissima. The yield table of oak trees has been used in the estimation of most broadleaf stands in Korea. However, the result of this study indicated that it is necessary to generate a stand yield table for each broadleaf species. The annual $CO_2$ removals of 30-year-old Juglans mandshurica plantations in the ChungJu region was estimated to be $5.84tCO_2/ha$. The stem volume and stand yield table of Juglans mandshurica plantation resulted from this study would provide a good information in decision making for forest management in ChungJu region.

  • This study was conducted to develop a stem volume table for Quercus acutissima in Korea by using Kozak's stem taper equation. In total, 2700 tree samples were collected around the country, and growth performance was investigated through compiling data on diameters by stem height and stem analysis. In order to test the stem taper equation's fitness, the fitness index (FI), bias, and mean absolute deviation (MAD) were analyzed. The fitness of the equation was estimated at 97%, bias as 0.017, and MAD turned out to be 1.118, respectively. Furthermore, there was a statistically significant volume difference between the current volume table and the new volume table (p = 0.0008, <0.005). The result indicates that using the new volume table that reflects the actual forest will reduce the loss when assessing wood resources and will improve the accuracy of forest statistics for national and local governments. A stem volume table, the main result of this research, which is utilized in the estimated stem taper equation, will provide growth information for Quercus acutissima, one of the main broadleaf species in Korea, and will function as a management indicator for rational forest management.

  • Furniture should change according to space. Therefore, it is important that the flexibility of the furniture, the functional efficiency, the economical efficiency and the convenience of the furniture of today. These characteristics are also important for seminar tables that are used temporarily by a large number of people. The seminar furniture currently in use has no shielding plate, there are two forms of table and shielding plate folding table. Therefore, in this research, furniture design and product development that can complement the shortcomings of the seminar furniture currently in use were done. Analysis of problems through overseas investigation and domestic market research, design planning and design, and prototyping. We have sought to optimize the volume by applying the characteristics of RTA furniture to develop a lightweight, lightweight, lightweight, easy to install and easy to use shielding plate, and open and closed system. Basically developed two types of shielding board seminar table basic shape and Roll Screen type, we expanded the scope of application such as each color and pattern. In order to reduce the weight, we replaced the parts such as anchor bolts and hinges and the shielding plate with Roll Screen and pursued volume optimization. As a result of this research, it is expected that the system of mechanisms such as packaging standardization and damage prevention for weight reduction and volume optimization will contribute to building competitiveness by domestic office prefabricated furniture industry's original technology.

  • Current volume tables might underestimate or overestimate the volumes of individual trees in a specific region because the tables were made using the data from broad region. This study provides a statistical method of local correction, which is the ratio-of-means estimator, when the table is applied to the data from a specific region. Data used in this study were 411 trees of Larix leptolepis from Hongchon region. Five statistical models for individual tree volume equation were evaluated based on 3 evalation criteria and the best equation fitted to the data from Hongchon region was selected. The volume estimated by the selected equation was then compared with the volume estimated by the current volume table. From the ratio-of-means estimate based on the volumes estimated by selected equation and by current volume table, the local correction was made. The correction equation was $V_{Hongchon}=1.078$ $V_{volume\;table}$. It is also proved that the correction equation can simply and precisely estimate tree volumes of Larix leptolepis in Hongchon region using the current volume table.

  • Surveys of stock volume on steep and vast expanse of mountains, involves various difficulties. And it is extremely uneconomical in forest management point of view, to spend lots of time and man power for surveying such tree volume as the value is much cheaper in comparison with volume and weight. Therefore, a stand volume table estimate easely stock volume per hectare basis from aerial photographs was prepared and correlations to stand volume among factors affecting tree volumation, were studied. Data were 114 places selected from planted Korean white pine, Pinus koreiensis Sieb. et Zucc. stands in Kwangnung Experiment Forest and were computed and analysed by the means of the quantification in the multi-variate statistical analysis. Electronic Data Processing System was applied for data processing at Korean Instiute of Science and Technology. Coefficients of multiple correlations of stand volume table was ranged 0.85~0.88.

  • Current volume tables might underestimate or overestimate the volumes of individual trees in a specific region because the tables were made using the data from broad regions within South Korea. Therefore, to solve this problem, this study was conducted to develop local stem volume tables reflecting the local growth pattern and properties using stem taper equations in the regions of Hongcheon and Yeongju. We developed the local stem volume table for Pinus densiflora, which is the widely planted species in South Korea. To derive the most suitable taper equation for estimating the stem volume of region, three models of Max & Burkhart, Kozak and Parresol et al. were applied and their fitness were statistically analyzed by using the Fitness Index, Bias, and Standard Error of Bias. The result showed that there is a significant difference among the three models, and the Fitness Index of the Kozak model was highest compared to the other models. Therefore, the Kozak model was chosen for generating stem taper equation and stem volume tables for P. densiflora. The result from the developed stem volume tables of each region was compared to the current stem volume tables with driven by the data of tree growth obtained throughout the nation. The result showed that there is a significant difference (0.000< ${\alpha}=0.05$) in two regions, Hongcheon and Yeongju, and also there is a significant difference (0.000< ${\alpha}=0.05$) between the two regions.

  • It is very important to classify explosion hazardous area (EHA) suitably and to use proper explosion-proof electric installations for facilities using flammable gases and liquids. In the past, various examples in the Notification of Ministry of Employment and Labor were referred to in classifying EHA. But, at present, many companies use the hypothetical volume in Korean Standards (KS). This study reviews the validity of EHA classification based on the hypothetical volume by comparing the calculated radii of EHA with those obtained by a consequence analysis program called PHAST and a mathematical approach in British Standards (BS). The radii of EHA by the hypothetical volume were found to be slightly larger than those by the other two methods. This was attributed to rather conservative uses of a safety factor(k) and a correction factor(f) for availability of ventilation in calculating the hypothetical volume. Since the differences are not so conspicuous, however, it is concluded that the hypothetical volume in KS is a valid means for the classification of EHA. This study also presents a table of the radii of EHA for easy reference by small-scale companies using city gas, C3-LPG and flammable liquid(toluene), respectively. The table consists of 25 leakage scenarios corresponding to combinations of 5 pipe(nozzle) sizes and 5 operating conditions for each flammable gas and liquid.
